Willkommen to the first ever installation of Runway 94, FanForce's and JediCouncil's very own Project Runway-styled contest run by myself and Obi Anne. This is a call out for people to start signing up for this contest, and prepare to use their creatitivity to make some really original Star Wars-based work.

The format of the contest will be as follows; each Thursday a challenge will be issued for the contestants. They have until Monday to complete the challenge and present their work. Then the work will be assessed by three judges and the winner(s) and loser(s) are presented on Thursday along with the challenge for next week. The winner(s) go on to the next round, the loser(s) can just say Auf Wiedersehen to the contest. Since this contest might take up quite a lot of time for the contestants we have already made a schedule for the season, so that those of you planning to take part can see from the start if it will be possible due to your own time schedules. There will be a break over Thanksgiving and Christmas as well.

The rules for the contest are the following.*

Each contestant work alone without any helping hands.
Each contestant must be able to show the progress of the work, meaning everything from materials chosen, the work in progress and the final product. Photos of the progress should be posted on the day of the presentation at the latest. If you documentation of the work isn't done the contestant will be disqualified.
Tools allowed for the construction are ones that supposedly everyone would have to possibility to find at home, meaning for example a basic sewing machine but not a top of the notch embroidery machine.**
There will be a budget limit for the challenges. Basically the contestants are meant to use what they already have at home or bargains that they can find.

The Judging Process

The judging will take place on a private forum here. There will be three judges each round, and to avoid any kind of bias the team of judges will change each challenge. There will be one permanent judge, one judge taken from the Costumes and Props forum and one ”celebrity” judge, meaning a person who doesn't necessarily have any sewing skills but is well known within the FanForce and JediCouncil forums. The judges have two days to decide the winners and losers for each challenge.

The Sign Up

People who are interested to take part in the contest should sign up before October 30th in the thread in the Costuming and Props forum. Everyone is encouraged to take part, even if you are new to sewing this is supposed to be a fun competition where creatitivity is the most important thing.

People who are interested to become a judge in the contest should sign up before October 27the, also in the thread in the Costuming and Props forum. If you are signing up as a judge please say if you are interested to be the permanent judge, or if you just want to be one of the rotating judges. If there are more people signing up to be judges than there are slots it will be decided by a lottery, those not getting a judge position still have the possibility to sign up as contestant instead.

We are hoping that many of you feel that this is an interesting contest and wants to take part. If you have any questions feel free to ask them in this thread or send me a PM.

* The rules may be clarified or added to until October 30th, these are the basics though.
** Tools not allowed are for example: knitting machine, embroidery machine, quilting machine, serger or overlock machine, computer pattern drafting programs, industrial pattern grading tools, steamer.
Tools that are allowed are for example: any form of non-motorized cutting apparatus, one sewing machine that consists of basic stitches and only a few decorative stitches, dress form or duct tape dummy, iron (verticle steaming capabilities are ok), any hand apparatus such as crochet or knitting tools, tatting shuttles, inkle looms etc..
