Regional Conference???? SouthWest

Hey,
Does anyboday know if there has ever been a regional conference for fans from the Southwest to meet up?
Think of Celebration II as the National Conference.
Could be an opportuinty to raise money, meet people, and try and get starwars actors to attend. Like a smaller scale Celebration?
Anyone interested? Maybe have it in LA. In Fall or late Summer?

LA? How about the new and improved San Diego Convention Center? The Convention Center overlooks the ocean and has doubled in size over the last year. I'd be interested in attending something like that though even if it wasn't in San Diego. Texas is a little far for me to travel though unless it is El Paso.

I'd probably vote for somewhere more central. I love California and have friends to visit in both LA and SD, but Phoenix (where the RSA is, central to the region), or Vegas (cheap travel, lots of activities) might make sense to get more people.

I could do Phoenix too. It is about 6 hours drive from San Diego. If we make this an annual event though, can we rotate cities?

Yeah, the idea to rotate cities each time sounds good. Maybe one year in Vegas, one in San Francisco, something like that.
Let's get some Mods and City Reps in here and see if we can get some of TFN's resources behind this.

We should definitely do this. We (Denver) just lost our big fall SciFi convention (Starcon) and i'll be itchin to do something then, Fall in Phoenix sounds like a road trip to me!! I have no thoughts on month, i'm sure school dates would be a factor for many.
If Kreleia and OBEY WANN have time, maybe you could check on hotels.

I find the idea interesting. I don't personnaly have the time to plan it, but I think I could support the idea.
Couple of thoughts:
-It should be in a major city, preferrably one with major airline hubs. Let's make it easy for people to get there. Central location is important, besides --everyone loves a road trip!
-It should have plenty of things for people of all ages, not just the over 21 crowd.
-It should have a group of people who can handle a large event. I'm thinking of EP 2 line party planning/event experience.
-It should be over a 3 day weekend, if possible, to allow for drive-in people, and for more fun! (I know from personal experience that it's 13 hours from Denver to Phoenix. This is bordering on long, but can be done overnight, especially with multiple drivers.)
-We should plan it at least 6 months in advance, and wait to do solid planning until after EP 2. Most of us have our hands full enough getting ready for Eppy 2.
...but I'm warming up to the idea. What do the other CR's think? Other FF members?

Houston meets these requirements...

But I don't think we exactly fit that!  We're just now starting to get our FF active and 'official' .

I am glad to see me idea take off. Maybe we could start a revolutiuon and other Regions will follow.
Anywoo, we need to spread our resources and find major sponsors so we can have the ticket price be as cheap as possible.

Haha, I would vote for it being in, um, Oklahoma City! Since its only about four blocks away from me, but I don't think that anyone wold want for it to be here. Not exactly a very "exciting" city like Vegas or something, but still its not the lamest though.
