No, it was the second one, thus the embarassment...
Let's see. We watched some movies with the kids this weekend. Over the Hedge... I liked it but it must be a "pre-quel" to the comic strip books we have had for years. Verne, was way too political compared to his comic counterpart. Garfield-A Tale of Two Kittes, well, I liked the first one better but the girls thought it was great.
Then we rented, no, I should say D_N_T rented, a movie called The Last Days on Earth. It actually turned out to be a TV mini-series thing and it was really terrible. Yeah, 10 foot long plastic alien ant/mantis critters that can somehow magically disguise themselves in human form at will. Actually in the form of Daryll Hannah. Yeah. There was alot of explosive gas in it and it kinda made me think that they made the whole movie out of it...explosive gas. D_N_T fell asleep about 5 minutes into it. Smart boy there.
Then for an early birthday present for me he redeemed himself with Battlestar Gallactica season 2 DVDs. Finally, something great to watch. The first two episodes were pretty good but we both wondered why they couldn't just use a little trigonometry and triagulate where the fleet was.

I decided to torture myself and watch Alexander, the director's cut last night. I was doing work at the same time, so maybe compared to aligning red and blue lines it didn't seem that bad... the jumping around was a little confusing, especially if I wasn't looking at the screen when they did the "10 years before" and stuff like that. Val Kilmer with one eye was a little strange too...
At least I can finally send it back and get "House" from netflix. It will be AWESOME. So much sarcasm and angst in one hour.

Yeah, you should watch those Black Adders(the third series) first where that same cynical actor plays the stupid prince george. Definitely an intersting contrast...

I rented Nacho Libre on my way home from the SCFF meeting. That was a strange but strangely humorous movie. I think I really liked it but Esqueletor was just really creepy in those clothes. I did read somewhere that the movie was loosely based on a real guy who has been wrestling for his orphanage for many years. Anybody know if that is true?

I loved Nacho Libre.
I watched "The Man who Cried" last night around midnight as I was doing some work that I had to catch up on. It had a lot of opera in it...but also Johnny Depp.
It was kinda interesting, and I might have liked it more if I hadn't been switching between watching it and the laptop, with a very noisy fish tank about a foot away from me so that I couldn't hear the dialogue very well...
There were a lot of dramatic pauses in it. With meaningfull glances.

I got Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events from the previously viewed list of netflix for $5, but I haven't had time to watch it yet. I liked it in the theaters, it was dark and twisted.

I liked that movie.
I watched the new Superman but I fell asleep. I have to be pretty tired to fall asleep in a movie but I just couldn't do it.
I also watched Clerks 2 and I really liked it. I loved the Transformers/God stuff. Very funny.
I might break out a Christmas video tonight.

I forgot to say that we went to see "Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny" over Thanksgiving. I really liked it but I tend to like really stupid movies with Jack Black in them because I had a friend just like him but female. She even looks like a female version of him. She was my college roommate so you can imagine how well I studied with a hilarious roommate always getting me into crazy adventures.
There was a very poignant moment in the movie though where Satan is telling them how is in all of us. It was all touching and sentimental and very funny.

For someone who scores a 90% on the Evil Test, that's kind of comforting to know.
