I have been checking out various fan edits of the Saga for a while now. Most I don't like as they invovle completely destroying the prequels. However I have seen a version of A New Hope which is now my preferred version of Star Wars.

Check out the list of changes on the first link, there are also some pics from the edit on that page. As a Star Wars fan you owe it to yourself to see this fan edit, you will be amazed. New Special FX sequences have been added that are simply unbelievable for a fan-edit.

Okay, everyone needs to download that and watch it. It is the best version of Star Wars ever, no joke. I don't want to spoil any of the surprises for you, but I'll just say that it looks as if it might merge better with the Prequals now.

anyone know of a good free program to get the AVI into VOB files to burn to DVD without losing sound or picture quality? I could watch this on a 17" monitor or I could watch it on a 32" tv. I would prefer the TV.

I use VSO ConvertXtoDVD, very small program, handles AVIs very well

I can't bring her to watch the new triology for a few reasons:
- The over the top special effects and bright new characters seem like a toy marketing executive's brain threw up on the screen.
- They don't have the same feel as the original triology. At all. The OT was all about a rag-tag group of underdogs fighting an evil empire. The NT is about a clean-cut group of super wizards kicking butt and taking names. The heroes in the OT were constantly on the run and lost from time to time. Other than "order 86," the Jedies in the NT never lost. Appartently in the NT Sith Lords are a dime a dozen.
- Though I don't mind the idea of the midiclorians, it was basically Lucas taking the "magic" of being a Jedi and throwing it away in favor of science. Boo.
- The acting was stiff and there was NO chemistry between Hayden and Natalie. If Lucas thought they worked well together, he needs to have his head examined.
- The script was pretty bad. Not to say the original was any better, but it was seriously bad.

All in all the new movies made me feel like Lucas doesn't know how to direct, doesn't understand romance at all, is totally in the pocket of toy makers, and doesn't give a crap about his fans. My wife would not be seeing the movies through the forgiving eyes of a die-hard Star Wars fan, but rather three boring, poorly made and kiddy movies. That's why. Refute away, if you so desire.

Oh I did read it, it's just all I read was someone who viewed the new movies through rose-tinted glasses. It read like this: this was a big problem...but it wasn't THAT bad...
Though turns out my wife has seen all three of the new movies and feels exactly the same way I do. Then we played some Lego Star Wars on the 360 and life was good.
