I've been playing FFXII over the break and hope to get it finished before second semester starts. I don't have the soundtrack CD, but music is certainly a winner in the game. New FF composer Hitoshi Sakimoto has done a great job even though his style is much different from that of Nobuo Uematsu. There are still many "FF'isms" but overall, the score is much more epic in nature than simple and personal.

While not as outstanding as Uematsu's scores, Sakimoto has still crafted a wonderful score that I often times find myself humming while playing the game. Here's to hoping they keep Sakimoto around!

There's a Japanese shopping center nearby my home in Chicago, and I frequent it a lot. Inside is an import book/music store that has a HUGE selection of video game soundtracks, which is where I found my Collector's Edition Final Fantasy XII soundtrack. It comes in this huge case, like a DVD boxed set. I have most of the tracks on my iPod and I listen to it a lot at work. It's well worth the money I spent on it.

*sigh* You don't know how lucky you are. I'd love to have a store like that within 2000 kilometres of me. Heck, I'd love to have a game that released its soundtrack in that format.

Very good, IMO. Bombastic with some choral elements mixed in. It doesn't really sound like it's synthesized, more like a real orchestra (but it most likely IS synthesized). It's great action music, like something you'd hear from John Powell or Klaus Badelt from a Michael Bay movie.

And the game rocks!
