What do you think of the Tie Fighter Attack track from Star Wars Episode 4?

As great and memorable as that cue is, I find it is not a track that I listen to as much as the others from the greatest film score of all time.

So good they reused it twice in RotJ (Sarlaac battle & inside the DSII).

You know why I hate these boards sometimes? Because now I want to watch the whole trilogy again.

Yeah, but that sucked. I've read that Williams wrote Return of the Jedi in a very short period of time. Perhaps these cues (whether "written" by him or arranged by his orchestrators) are symptomatic of that.

I hate those recycled moments in ROTJ. Unfortunately, though, I find most of the original action material he wrote specifically for that film pretty dull as well. Aside from "Into the Trap" and the fanares at the end of "Sail Barge Assault" and "The Main Reactor", nothing in there really excites me.

I thought that track was a good taste of the awesome music to come in the final
battle over the Death Star. That's one of the greatest cues, that whole
last battle segment, ever written for any movie. Ever. Period. I regard the
Tie Fight Attack Track as a great appetizer, but not the main course.

One of my fave tracks from the entire saga.
This one, like "The Asteroid Field" has a certain rollercoaster feel to it.

Ben's Death is kinda meh for me, but the intro to the TiE attack is superb, and full of action from that point on

(I never got why they use Leia's theme for the part when Ben dies)

I said "they" as I don't know whether it was a JW decision or a GL decision (or someone else's for that matter).

But for a saga which uses the leitmotif as much as it does, it doesn't seem to make that much sense, especially for such a major point in the story.

EDIT: Asthetically-wise, I think the Force theme would be equally powerful (as seen earlier in the film with Binary Sunset) and would make much more sense. I don't disagree though that the arrangement and orchestration of Leia's theme works well. It just doesn't make sense happy

Maybe when they rescore ANH, they can use Qui-Gon's Theme or Yoda's Theme instead of Leia's Theme.
