Based heavily on a poll over at jwfan.net, choose how you think the score for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull will compare to Raiders, Temple of Doom and Last Crusade. I tried to hit the most common combinations. I don't think too many people consider ToD to be the best score.

I want to get excited about this film, but I have a bad feeling about it. So maybe if I don't expect much from the score, it will surprise me.

Phantom Menace-itis?

I don't necessarily agree. I think the attitudes of the filmmarkers are right for this film to be good. But the score? Williams has taken a different turn of late, and his "fun" music, to my ears, hasn't been as good. I'm going better than ToD, but not much else.

I'm not excited about the film. I think the trilogy is great as it is, but I am looking forward to the score. I don't however think it will be better than any of the originals.

I can see it being better than Temple of Doom simply because that was a weak score but in reality I think it will probably be the worst

TOD is actually a very strong score and is my second favorite of the three original scores, with Raiders coming in at number one.

As for this poll, I find it fundamentally pointless. That said, I am always excited for a new Williams score and Crystal Skull is no exception.

Well, it's kind of silly to guess how it will compare to the other scores. I don't, however, think it's time to assume that JW's ability to use his composer's pen has diminished. If he produces a score of comparable quality to ROTS, I'll be quite happy with it. While I'm not expecting him to hit a home run with any particular new theme, like a DOTF, it is certainly plausible.

I voted for "Not as good as the original three scores"; I have to admit that none of the originals really impressed me in the way that SW scores have done, so choosing this really puts the bar very low for me. But without expecting too much, perhaps I will be pleasantly surprised.

Low standards for an Indiana Jones score? Gah! Go out, young grasshopper, and discover the world beyond Star Wars.

By the way, the trailer for KotCS is rumored to be released on February 15th. This will be near the end of or after the recording sessions... Perhaps we can expect some new music to be featured!
