Wow, I'm glad to see this thread is still going strong! I used to like Ray Park but he's not really a star anymore. After Ecks vs. Sever, I wondered what the hell was he thinking? It was bad IMO. But I still luuuuuuv Maul.

Sure you can join.
Could you also recruit for the club? It's been a little down over the past year.

I'll give this a couple days and then start a new topic...
Does anyone know if Ray Park modified or had input into the design of the Darth Maul costume? Being a 2x black belt, I would think he would want to have more movement than the typical costume designer would put into the standard costume.
On the other hand, since there are people out there designing for others (Chuck Norris, Jackie Chan) in the martial arts realm, the science may have developed a long way since the days of old.

It looked like he was wearing a pair of black KI pants underneath his Samurai like fighting toga. I'm sure he had some input on his costume, but we didn't really see him doing any kicks in the movie, so that kind of flexibility wouldn't be needed.

I am all about this fan club.
For all the Darth Maul fans out there we are having a great discussion on the PT forum about how Star Wars would have been enriched if Maul had lived. It picked up recently on page 64 HERE
This is an excerpt from one of my posts:
I like Dooku as a character, but Maul is a homerun. He looks cools, he acts cool, he sounds cool, and he fights cool. He immediately resonnated with almost all Star Wars fans and the praise of his character design before TPM was near universal. I still remember an article praising George for creating a villian scarier than Vader.
So I think it would have been more beneficial for the prequels if ultimately after several failed attempts to beat him, Maul is vanquished by Skywalker in ROTS. Maul would have been around doing awful things for a whole other movie and his character would have been fleshed out making Anakin's victory and Sidious's betrayal that much more profound. Think about it, Sidious raised Maul as a boy to be the ultimate Sith and then he would throw all that away because Anakin beat him in combat. That's cold blooded and shows the true ruthlessness of the Sith. More than just Palps betraying Dooku, who everyone knew was just a placeholder apprentice; this would have truly been survival of the fittest.

i agree i think that maul should have been able to stick around longer but im not sure if maul would have had the dilpomacy that dooku had for getting all the separtists and trade federation on his side. It does mess with the rule of 2 also because you cant have more than two sith lords around. Just minions like assaj or even aurra sing.

If Maul lives Dooku isn't necesary. George could have created a more formal head of the various guilds to play the politicking/hand holding Dooku role. I'm picturing an alien who fancies himself/herself as a brilliant schemer but in reality isn't that clever (at least when compared to Sids and Maul). But to be honest, I'm not sure that character is even necesary. The seperatists could have been portayed as a bickering and disjointed collective held together by Sidious's influence and their own greed.
With or without an additional character, Grevious would still be the droid General and Maul would have a nebulous role like Vader did in ANH. He would be the enforcer, the ultimate protector, and someone who would put the other seperatists in their place if they started to get out of line.
