Right, but I didn't know the definition of micromanaging. I was simply doing what I had done before, and I had done it with full knowledge of the Mods, and I've never been punished for it before.

This was discussed during your ban. Again, the definitions are clear to everyone else. I think this discussion is best in PM with a moderator, however. We don't normally discuss bans in public.

In this case, it should be discussed in public, because everyone else is subject to these rules too. If the rules aren't clearly written out, then the Mods can arbitrarily ban someone for violating some rule that only exists in their mind, and not in the rules themselves.

Anyway, I just wanted to get that off my chest. I hope you'll be more fair in the future and only ban someone if they actually violate a rule that physically exists here on this thread.

The ban was fair, supported by the majority of the administration and clearly explained to you. No one else seems to have issue following the rules. I handed out one mild warning in the time you were gone which was immediately followed. I am not going to spell out each and every little thing to the Nth degree for one user. The vast majority of people have no problems understanding the rules and abiding by them.

what is the point of an LBL if the line doesnt have to be right? if i posted a wrong line, and say Bib corrected it, whats it matter? Im not going to be offended in anyway, he just knew the line

The threads are for fun. People are expected to get the lines right, but if they make a mistake it's not the end of the world. You might not mind being corrected but many many others do. These rules were devised to keep the LBL threads running smoothly. Without them, the LBLs would cease to exist.

Who is to say he is correct? He does. Regardless of what anyone else, even the script, says.

His constant corrections, and the way he went about the corrections, and some were not even "corrections", took away from the fun and more importantly, the community.

It is a long and tired story. But these guidelines are to preserve the fun, and encourage more active participation from the most amount of people. I think it is unfortunate the mods had to post them, but the threads were in such a need to have these guidelines, and that is even sadder. They are here to enforce the fun and community.

That's a load, Bib, and you know it. Not only have I had numerous conversations with you about the expectations for the line by lines, you have been punished for it before. You can't claim ignorance when at least 3 mods that I know of have had these conversations with you over and over again. You are the only one that has been banned because of these LBL's and I think that speaks for itself. No one else has a problem adhering to the guidelines, therefore, I believe they are as spelled out as they can be. Common sense and courtesy go a long way in participating in these "games."

As Strilo said - and I posted in the guidelines initially - these threads are for fun. Just because someone posts a line that's not exactly the way it is in the film, shouldn't earn them a reprimand.

I my opinion, if someone can't adhere to the guidelines of the LBL's, they don't need to post in them anymore.

I don't like airing these types of things in public, but since Bib brought it up, I felt I needed to post my view of the situation since I was the last mod here before Strilo and Stryphe.

Just to help out here, you could try an online dictionary:
mi·cro·man·age
tr.v. mi·cro·man·aged, mi·cro·man·ag·ing, mi·cro·man·ag·es

To direct or control in a detailed, often meddlesome manner.
It is assumed that everyone here has at least a basic command of the English language, and the ability and intelligence to use a dictionary is part of that.

Additionally, there are no loopholes nor technicalities in the rules here. This is not a court of law. Moderators are judge, jury, and executioner. If they tell you to stop doing something, that doesn't mean to try to find a way that you are "technically" following what they say. That means to stop doing it.

Yes, I was wondering the same thing. Though I do remember the whole increasing penalty that was described somewhere, perhaps above in the guidelines....

Anyway, one could try e-mailing him or something to find out what the deal is.

He has logged in, though, just not posted. How is that possible to log in if you are banned? Is it because he attempted to log in that it shows to us that he is logged in? Can he read but not post?

Confused....

I don't make a habit of discussing a user's ban with anyone but that user or a member of the administration. Feel free to contact Bib to ask him.

I've got two questions. Since we know of at least one major dialogue addition to the OT DVDs, should we be including it in future LBL's?

And if we were to do so, when exactly would we be allowed to start adding them? Because the major dialogue addition I am referring to here (the Emperor/Vader exchange in ESB) is already fairly well known and been 100% confirmed, so we could add it to the next rendition of the ESB LBL if it occurs before the DVD release.

As Jar Jar said, "any help here would be hot". happy

I would say those dialogue changes can be used once the DVDs are released in the U.S.
