Well here it is once again folks ... The results of the Top Ten Planets in the Saga rated by us the fans. Yeah, yeah I know it's been a long time comming ( 2 mos.). I kind of got side-tracked after my computer crashed and I lost my HTML template for these threads, had to do some projects for work as well. So I just didn't have the energy to start over.

But anyways ... Enough of that. For those of you that need a refresher or missed the past top 10's in the series... I've provided the top 3 and reference links to the total results. They have been interesting to say the least and the planets are no different.

TOP 3 ~~VILLIANS~~~------------[2]-----------------------[3]---------

Ultimate Rate your TOP 10 Villians Results

TOP 3 ~~~HEROES~~~------------[2]-----------------------[3]---------

Ultimate Rate your TOP 10 Heroes Results

Now let's get started ... Shall we?

Because the results are here and the points tallied so lets begin the count down to the top three and ultimately number one planet in the Saga as rated by you, the fans.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

When they say this place is remote they're not kidding...Comming in at the bottom of the barrel at Number Ten we have our favorite little green martian's hideway, Dagobah.

#10 - Dagobah - EP III, V, VI

Total # Points = 79
[ IGN= 45 / TFN= 34 ]

What was said about this Planet?

1. Dagobah - Sure, it's a swamp. Sure, it's full of droid-eating monsters. Sure, it has it's very own Dark side holodec. But it's the first place we see Yoda! ~ xeowulf@ign

9. Dagobah Not sure what its good for besides hiding from people. ~ LukeSkiwalker@tfn

9) Dagobah: Not much to do but it's better then being cold. ~ Jedimancer@tfn

I can't believe this one didn't come in last... Color me suprised but we have an upset here folks. Sure it only beat out a swamp world, but Yavin 4 comming in at Number Nine is a feat in itself. I guess that's why we rate them because not everyone feels the same.

#9 - Yavin 4 - EP IV

Total # Points = 89
[ IGN= 58 / TFN= 31 ]

What was said about this Planet?

5) Yavin IV - Haven't seen much of this planet, but the temples is pretty cool. Other than that, it's not really interesting. Nice that EU made it that Anakin was there, during the Clone Wars (the animated shorts). ~ pika122689

7. Yavin 4; Cool place, espically in the EU. Nice place for a hidden Rebel base. ~ DanSmukalla

I'm also suprised this one came in so low at Number Eight. I thought an entire planet resembling an ant farm was a pretty cool idea. The only flaw I saw was the leader should have been a female... Like a queen bee. Would have been a great opportunity for Lucas to have a nice female villain in the Saga.

#8 - Geonosis - EP II

Total # Points = 92
[ IGN= 36 / TFN= 56 ]

What was said about this Planet?

#5: Geonosis -- There's also a few planets that fit into primative molds, and just as seeing the ancient civilizations of the Aztec, Egyptians, etc. seem to defy the antiquity and pressumed barbarism of it's people, the Geonosians create wonderful, gothic palaces that belie the fact that they appear to be insects and their fortresses giant termite mounds! Loops earings and necklessles, cultural attire -- yet speech that borders on belches and clicks. This is possibly the most culturally interesting planets of all the STAR WARS planets. Not to mention, it's almost the perfect "Hell Planet", Belly of the Whale for our Heroes to find themselves swallowed into, for Anakin and Padme to have endured and returned from in love, thus testing their faith by "fire" (another reason I do not mind, and in fact prefer the "Droid Factory scene", because it brought in the element of fire, sweat, and layers). ~ r3v3lation@ign

4.Geonosis.-"Geonosis is less than a prasec away...I'm going to help Obi-Wan,if you're going to protect me,you'll just have to come along."This planet is just cool.It hosted the first battle of the Clone Wars, and had some of the most awesome scenes of the saga there. It's just plain cool. ~ OBIX1@tfn

8. Geonosis - I find this place more of an eye sore than ine or Hoth. Except there hasn't been any other land battles in Star Wars to compare with the one this planet hosted. Whoo, great action. ~ SkafeeXAddict

Sorry I'm a little late but here we go with the next two which will bring us into the top five...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm singing in the rain with Kamino comming in at Number Seven. Awesome surreal planet, I kind of wish it came in a little higher but no major battles here probably set it were it is. Although it is a fitting place to see the stormtroopers born as well as thier daddy residing there. The Obi & Jango apartment scence is one of my favorites in the PT.

#7 - Kamino - EP II

Total # Points = 114
[ IGN= 40 / TFN= 74 ]

What was said about this Planet?

#8: Kamino -- Lucas uses milieu as allegory, as he's mentioned the earthen colors of planets such as Tatooine and Endor represent (as do the characters themselves) the good, while the surface of the Death Star (and plenty of the bad guys) is devoid of color, and merely shades and grey. Planets such as Kamino, Dagobah, Bespin, Hoth and the underwater Gungan cities, seem to represent the depths of the unconscious, sometimes murky, sometimes permafrosted, oftentimes (especially in myth) deep and wet. When you see a sequence in a place like these, it often means something hidden, taboo, or repressed is going to be brought to the surface. So while interesting things often happen... the planets themselves tend to be less entertaining, as they're serving their purpose rather than filled with lots of sights, sounds and tangible things. ~ r3v3lation@ign

Kamino: Well sure it rains there all the time. But at lest you can go into some place where it is not raining. ~ anidanami124@tfn

Kamino is the coolest planet followed by Naboo. ~ GRAND_MOFF_KEVIN@tfn

Major battle alert! The empire finally strikes back and ice's the rebels on this cold frosty world we all know as Hoth comming in at Number Six. I think we can all agree nobody would like to vacation here but the walkers and the trench warface spelling the rebels iminent doom left us all on the edge of our seat. It was like the End of a movie at the begining if that makes any sense ...lol.

#6 - Hoth - EP V

Total # Points = 135
[ IGN= 78 / TFN= 57 ]

What was said about this Planet?

Hoth - It may be cold, but it was almost an evocation of Herbert's Dune; a planetary romance, a beautiful and harsh landscape that imbues its character like few other worlds. ~ MILK-HANDS@tfn

7.Hoth.-"There isn't enough life on this ice cube to fill a space cruiser!".This planet comes in at number 7 mostly because of the awesome battle there! And also because Luke saw the vision of Obi-Wan there, and that set the events into motion that led to him becomeing a full Jedi Knight. ~ OBIX1@tfn

1. Hoth; Who watches Empire Strikes Back and doesn't get pumped when the AT-ATs slowly come into view through the fog. Awesome! ~ DanSmukalla@tfn

Well...It's finally here three days late. The Top Three rated planets in the Star Wars saga as rated by the fans. It is interesting to see that two out of the three planets are from the PT. With third featuring promenantly in the PT and originally in the OT. But some may be suprised as to how the results have played out.

So...Let's get started shall we?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Comming in at Number Three we have the lush, lovely planet of Naboo. Home to the Queen then Senator, Naboo represents all that was bright in the Galaxy Far Far away before the Dark Times, before the Empire. Naboo like Tatooine is home to Two of SW greatest characters Padme Amidala, and Cos Palpatine. A stark contrast in comparison considering both these characters hold completely different ideals. One becomes a Tyrannical Emperor the other an inspiration to restore hope and freedom from Tyranny. Also how can we forget this is where our favorite Jar Jar Binks comes from. Naboo stands as a jewel in the rough waters of Galactic civil war.

#3 - Naboo - EP I, II, III

Total # Points = 177
[ IGN= 81 / TFN= 96 ]

What was said about this Planet?

#3: Naboo -- There's a wonderful moment in TPM, when Obi-Wan is speaking with Yoda in private on Naboo about the future of Anakin, when in the background, through a window, you can catch a glimpse of a dragon-like creature flying through the skies. This magical beauty sums up what I love about this planet. Lucas filmed much of it in real locations, only enhancing what was already there, or recreating a very realistic world, through influences such as DINOTOPIA and classic storybook images of palaces and royalty, complete with an evil, conspiring mage. It not only looks great, but most of the film's greatest sequences occur on the planet (specifically, the operatic sword dance through it's heart, conjuring images of FORBIDDEN PLANET's "City of the Krell"). It even takes the Princess and the Frog story almost literally (how wonderful it would've been if Padme were a proud Queen who showed actual distain for the Gungans initially, and actually provided the film with a Character-Arc, and was with the Jedi durg this sequence), by following Jar Jar into the Pond, where we find dozens of "golden balls", and come back with the knowledge which in the end saves the day. It's a testimony to Lucas' command on the visual art of his films, an area he's never faltered in, IMO. ~ r3v3lation@ign

3) Naboo - Beautful planet. Very peaceful, well, until the Trade Federation and Empire..
~ pika122689@ign

3.Naboo.-"We're a democracy, the people are desided!".This planet is also key to the saga, mostly because it's the home planet of Palpatine. It's kind of ironic actaully, because Naboo is a peaceful planet, but one of the worst dudes in the galaxy came from there. And this planet also has the best scene of the saga so far:Duel of the fates! It'll definatly come in at number 3.
~ OBIX1@tfn

5. Naboo(Probably the most beautiful planet of the whole saga. It's basically the SW version of heaven. Lush landscapes, fantastical cities(with some cool psuedo-Roman architecture), and dream-like underwater environments makes for a WHOLE LOT of eye candy). ~ Jedimancer@tfn

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Like I said the end results were a bit suprising considered that this planet was probably favored by most to win even if they dind't vote it as there number one. If Naboo gave origin to two of the greatest characters... Tatooine comming in at Number Two gave way to two the Greatest characters in the Saga. Father and Son, Anakin and Luke Skywalker. It's the first planet many of us remember when first witnessing the SW saga. It's were it all started in the OT as well as the PT.

#2 - Tatooine - EP I, II, III, IV, V, VI

Total # Points = 210
[ IGN= 130 / TFN= 80 ]

What was said about this Planet?

2.Tatooine-"If there's a bright center to the universe, your on the planet it's farthest from".This is really the most key planet to the whole saga.Home of Anakin and Luke,it really helped set the events of the saga.Would Luke have wanted to leave home so much if he were on a more civilized planet like Coruscant? Probably not. ~ OBIX1@tfn

6) Tatooine - I hate sand, but everyone and everything seems to make its way through this world, and I would love to be there, to go to the cantina, to Boonta Eve, and to Jabba's Palace.
~ MILK-HANDS

1) Tatooine - It's not a pretty planet, but it's home. ~ pika122689@ign

1. Tatooine(yep, that's right. It may not be the prettiest[though, as with Hoth, there's a strange beauty to it's bleakness] but it's my pick for #1. Luke may think this planet is as far as it can be from the "bright center of the universe" but this planet is, in actuallity, the bright center of the SW universe. This is where the Chosen One, the Son of the Suns, as well as his even more heroic son, was raised. The heroes of the SW seem to just keep on going from one new, cool planet to another, but some how, they just keep ending up back here.) ~ Jedimancer@tfn

#1: Tatooine -- I guess when you start things off on this planet, place it in all but one of six films, and have the Hero and his Shadow both hail from it... it's bound to be a favorite. At times it harkens us to westerns, ala THE SEARCHERS, in other sequences it's the barren, barbarian wastes of the SAGA's Edgar Rice Burroughs/Frank Frazetta influences (complete with half-naked ladies in subjection, as the cover of STAR WARS once implied, but was turned on it's head by Leia's defiance), and in it's gangster emperor, presiding over chariot races sequence -- it's got it all! It's at times the ancient Middle East, at times the old West. It would be nice to see all of the deleted scenes (from ANH and ROTJ), whether it's the boys causing a ruckus for the old people in town, Luke's being shown to get no respect amongest his peers, or the sandstorm return to the Falcon after Han's rescue -- the planet's got too much happening on it to not want to see more, more, more. ~ r3v3lation@ign

Kind of suprising yet decisive we have Coruscant as the Number One Planet of the SW saga as rated by fans here at IGN as well as TFN. Call it the "Crown Jewel", a "Metropolis", a "Rome" if you may. This planet is home to the Jedi temple as well as civilaztion itself in the Galaxy far far away. It is home to the senate which represnts thousands of systems all united in one spot in the massive city scape that is Coruscant. It may have one time been inconcievable that such a bright spot in culture and civilazation would become dark... But that is exactly what happened.

#1 - Coruscant - EP I, II, III

Total # Points = 224
[ IGN= 86 / TFN= 138 ]

What was said about this Planet?

#4: Coruscant -- In stark contrast to the primative planets, is the Republic/Empire's home planet, torn straight from the pages of Isaac Asimov's FOUNDATION. Lots of stuff happens here, and the milieu is actually a part of it! Well, mostly. Initially, I was disappointed by it (in TPM), because it's only real point of interest was in showing that evil was conspiring on it in the shroud of night (Darth Maul speaking with Sidious), and it's nice representation of congestion and confusion, which is mirrored in the government's politics. But in AOTC, it's used briefly as the "unconscious" planets, upon it's fogged introduction. It's used to show the distain of the Jedi's almost Nietzschian disregard for the "little people", as they fly through it's skies like demigods, swooping down into it's nightspots and telling the people to mind their own business. Likewise, as the politic seat, governing the galaxy, it's disregard for the people it's been controlling ends up creating slaves, Separatists, Rebels and revolution! Though I can't excuse the lack of the option for the ORIGINAL EDITION of the OT, I have to admit, I enjoy seeing things come full circle on Coruscant, with it's people bringing down statutes and tossing it's authoritarians around like ragdolls! ~ r3v3lation@ign

2) Coruscant - Cool ass city. I really like it since the so much of the PT revolves around it. It has everything, central Jedi Temple anyone.. ~ pika122689@ign

6. Coruscant - There's only so much city a person can stand. ~ xeowulf@ign

1. Coruscant - Get drunk, buy a d eathstick, watch an assassination take place, hijack a speeder, then go watch important political decisions be made. ~ SkafeeXAddict@tfn

2) Coruscant: There is a lot to do and see here. It is also the only city wide planet. ~ anidanami@tfn

2) Coruscant - never fails to impress me with its immensity, its sheer overwhelming nature - Coruscant is pure eye candy, but its also a place of trillions upon trillions of stories... ~ MILK-HANDS@tfn
