Hello everybody, this is Darth-Horax, the originator of the greatest game in the galaxy!
For all of you doubters out there, I will be returning to the arena as a GM...tremble in fear before me!
First, allow me to pay tribute to bburditt, the exalted commissioner of the last few drafts. Until further notice, he will be commissioner of this draft, as well.
As you all no doubt know, the previous 8 drafts were won by GenMadine (2 wins), Qui-Gon-Jinn2, Corran10584, Gaeri, Saber_Leader, Ghost_Jedi and Suzuki_Akira.
Again, as you all no doubt know, this draft had a little 2 week hiatus, so that the mods, and respected and veteran draft participants could hold a little discussion on the future of the now world-renown draft series.
Allow me a little bit of time to run by the new thread rules, explain some of the unclear rules, and then give you all a run-down as to how this installment will be played, and also give a brief explanation of how the game actually works.
Here are the new thread rules.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
VIP / Colors / Titles: Per the VIP rules and guidelines outlined here, the ONLY person able to get colors / VIP status / a title from the Draft will be the winner. That will last a period of one week. Unfortunately, the Commish / Leaders / Judges will not be allowed VIP status or even a title. You are encouraged to put this information in your sig. The winner will also get to use the VIP Only "Jedi Draft Winner" icon for the week.
Only one Draft thread at a time. Because these will now be official forum games, Stryphe and I will allow one Draft thread at a time. This does not appear to be an immediate problem as the Starfighter Draft is on a bit of an hiatus. If and when the SFD returns to activity, we can consider having two at a time if the pace of the SFD becomes a problem.
Two week gap between Drafts. After two weeks the new thread can be started for any new planning that needs to happen for the next draft.
Forum Mods retain right to pull Commish. If this is to be a forum game, Strilo and Darth-Stryphe retain the right to pull the Commish should he/she be misbehaving to an unacceptable level. This is not something they would do lightly nor should they have to do it at all. Only worst case scenario here.
Authority to prevent anyone from playing one or more editions of the draft is left solely to the discretion of the forum mods.
Mods will do a sock check on all GMs and judges.
Socializing and chatting off topic is allowed in moderation, provided it conforms to all the rules of the forum. (No politics, discussing films and not fans, no flaming/spamming/trolling, etc...)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To be clear, this means that the Jedi Draft is now an official Star Wars Community forum game. It is also currently the only SWC game to offer a chance at winning some colours for a week.
In regards to the Only one Draft thread at a time, this would mean that while the Jedi Draft is going on, the Starfighter Draft, would have to be on hold until the Jedi Draft is done, and vice-versa.
To clear up any issue you all probably have with this, these rules are only a test. I know that the SFD can run slow, and if it runs too slow so that the Jedi Draft would have to be on hold for months, then that rule will be overruled. Corran10584, creator of SFD, has been thinking about moving the SFD to the EUC anyways.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now that the administrative stuff has been mentioned, lets move on to an explanation of how to play this game, and a description of the newly decided game rules, for those who already know how to play.
Firstly, there are three different types of participants to the draft. There is one commissioner, and for this current installment, that just so happens to be me. There are three judges, they will be the ones who will decide the outcome of all the matches. The matches will be explained in detail further in this post. And lastly, there will be sixteen General Managers. The GMs have a lot to do, and they are the people who are fighting for the colours.
So, the first thing you have to do to play this game, is to sign-up! This is important, so I’ll write it in big annoying red, just so no one misses it by any chance. If you want to be a judge, there is a new requirement to do so, and it is to have participated in 2 previous drafts, and also, be able to give 100% percent commitment to the entire draft, and this last requirement will be decided by the commish. I have a good feel for who is on a lot, and who is on at the same times that I am normally on. This is even more important, so I will write it in bigger annoyinger yellow. If you have not been a GM at least two previous times, do not even try to sign-up to be a judge, because I will say no.
Now, you may all be thinking, “why the hell did he say sixteen GMs?” Here’s why… and for you n00bs, there always only used to be 12 GMs. In our little discussion board, we were talking about expanding how many GMs we play with. Everyone liked the idea of being able to cater to more people, but not many liked the idea of having even more unknown EU Jedi diluting the draft pool. So, here’s what we decided on, as a beta in this installment.
As soon as I get my three judges, and sixteen GMs, I will randomly (with my trusty random number generator) split the 16 GMs into two different conferences of eight GMs each… Tatooine Conference and Alderaan Conference.
Each of the conferences are going to have the exact same draft pool of Jedi and Sith, that the GMs will pick from. This list will be posted when the drafting starts. So, what I’m getting at, is that each conference is going to have its own draft in itself. After both conferences finish their drafting, we will move into the match-ups that will be explained later. Yes, this means that there will be two teams that are going to have Yoda, and again, that will be explained later.
Anyways, I will randomize the order in which people will pick their Jedi/Sith, with my trusty random number generator. One thing I can tell you all, is that seeing how as Suzuki won last draft, and Horax came second, they will be trying to defend their two conference titles, Tatooine and Alderaan respectively. Unfortunately I have been informed that Darth-Horax, the creator of this draft series, would like to judge this installment, so there will be a brand spanking new Alderaan Conference champ.
So, the draft order is randomized, and then the GMs pick their teams. Each team will have 6 Jedi/Sith on their team, meaning there will be six complete rounds of picking, for each conference.
The order goes like this:
Round 1
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
Round 2
8.
7.
6.
5.
4.
3.
2.
1.
And so on, all the way down to the end of Round 6.
A couple tips I can give on how to draft a solid team that has a chance to win the title.
Make sure you read previous drafts, to get a feel of where certain picks should go and what not.
Research the Jedi/Sith. Don’t just go picking your favourites. This competition is about how well your pick can fight, not how nice they are.
Make sure you try your best to put together a solid team. Although it is all your own strategy. If you want to pick only the best individual fighters, then go for it. It will be explained later as to how the matches are scored, so you can decide whether or not building a strong team is worth sacrificing a better individual fighter.
Also, while drafting is going on, there can be trades between GMs. Trading only is aloud after the second round of drafting has finished. You may ask, “but both conferences’ second round will probably end at the same time.” I would respond, “as soon as the first conference finished their second round, trading can begin.” You can trade with any GM in the game, and that includes GMs in different conference than yourselves. Trading can take place between when the first conference finished their second round, and the minute I post the first round match-ups. After the first round match-ups are finished, trading may only take place in between rounds, and it may only take place between GMs who have not yet been eliminated. Both parties of a trade must PM their trades to me, and only me, or else the trade will be denied. Only fair trades will be aloud to be made, I hold the authority to deny any trade I wish, on any grounds I feel like at the time.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now, the match-ups. After drafting, I will randomly pick the first round match-ups for both conferences. As soon as I post what GM is fighting what GM, all the GMs will have 24 hours to PM me their “numbers” for the match-up. Sending in your numbers works like this.
There are a total of seven rounds of fighting in a single GM vs. GM match-up. The first six rounds are individual 1-on-1 fights, and that is where sending in numbers come in. The seventh round will be a complete team vs. complete team fight. Each round is worth one point to the winning GM… so you need a total of at least 4 wins to win an entire match.
When you send in your numbers, PM them to bburditt only, and do it as so. Let’s say that your team happen to be after drafting:
Yoda
Mace Windu
Obi-Wan Kenobi
Luke Skywalker
Qui-Gon Jinn
Anakin Skywalker
You must assign whatever Jedi you want, to any number between 1-6.
So you could send in your numbers like this.
1. Luke Skywalker
2. Qui-Gon Jinn
3. Mace Windu
4. Yoda
5. Anakin Skywalker
6. Obi-Wan Kenobi
Your opposing GM would do the same with his team. After I receive all the numbers from the GMs, I will randomly call out the numbers 1-6 in the order that my trust random number generator decides. So, if the first number I happen to call is 5, then there would be a match of Anakin Skywalker vs. whatever Jedi the opposing GM has assigned to number 5. The judges are the ones who will decide who wins the match-ups.
What numbers you assign your team to is totally up to you. You could also send in the same team as above like this.
1. Obi-Wan Kenobi
2. Anakin Skywalker
3. Yoda
4. Mace Windu
5. Qui-Gon Jinn
6. Luke Skywalker
One more thing about sending in numbers, you can assign “trumps” to your Jedi. A trump allows you to square off two of your Jedi against only one of the opposing GMs’ Jedi. The downside? The other half of your trump receives an auto-loss when his/her number is called. Let me explain with an example here.
Let’s say you send in your numbers, with a trump, like this:
1. Mace Windu
2. Luke Skywalker
3. Obi-Wan Kenobi trumped with 5. Qui-Gon Jinn
4. Yoda
5. Anakin Skywalker
So, if I call the number 3 as the first number, then Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon will fight together against whoever the opposing GM assigned to number 3. After that match is judged by the judges, let’s say I call number 5 as the second number of the round, Qui-Gon, who has previously fought, will be assigned an auto-loss against the Jedi/Sith that the opposing GM assigned to number 5.
Also, there is no rule saying that you can’t send in two or even three trumps in a round. A good trump begins at the drafting. If you plan on using trumps, make sure you draft two Jedi that will fight well together, whether it be by a Master/Padawan bond, or a family bond. There are many different trump strategies that various GMs have used in the past, I will let you all figure out your own. My biggest tip is that good trumps start at the drafting.
So, these are the basics of the game. This draft will run in this format. Both conferences will have a double-elimination style tournament. So, if you lose twice, you are gone, simple as that. We will go like that until two conference champs have been crowned, and then those two teams will square off in a best-of-3 finals. Now, because we have the possibility of a Yoda vs. Yoda match-up in the finals, or something to that effect, if that happens, I will just simply ask both GMs to resend their numbers.
One last thing, if you all haven’t noticed, I want three judges signed up this time. Meaning I will not be judging this installment. I think I have enough to do with the handling of 16 GMs, and their number sets.
I believe I explained everything clearly in this monster of a first post. But, if any of you have any questions, just send me a PM, and I will gladly help you.
Let’s get this draft started! Here is the sign-up list.

For now, I think it's best if we only sign up two judges...Because Horax obviously copied and pasted that from the last draft, and we ended up going to two judges and Commish
We can always add a judge if they decide to go with 3 later

I'm not aware of Hand Of Skywalker's background. Has he played before? The judges positions are being held for veterans of the draft. Also, Windu wants to judge, as well.
I"m off like a prom dress.
