	Answers to questions.... 1) The TF was hoping to tax the Republic on the trade routes, because they were the ones that actually discovered most of the routes and ownership over most of them. 2) Nute was approached by Sidious because (as was mentioned) Gunray was something of a genious, and Sidious needed someone who was smart to aid him in his plans. This happened only about a year or so before TPM, and the TF actually had no problem with Naboo. They were a little ticked off when Naboo voted for some trade tax bill they didn't like, but a whole ton of other systems voted for it, too. Sidious intimidated the TF and pretty much told them he would wipe them out if they didn't do what he said. If they did do what he wanted, he would reward them. So for a year or so they did this, and they got lots of droids and stuff and more control over trade routes. Thus, they didn't complain. Then Sidious told them to attack Naboo and use the trade tax bill thing as an excuse, which was pretty lame, and that's why a lot of people (and Jedi) believed there was more going on behind the TF's decision to attack Naboo than they were admitting. Naboo was a trade hub and all, which is why the Neimoidians agreed to take it over without much complaint. After the Naboo incident, Sidious disappeared. The only reason the TF knew he was still watching them was because Gunray got out of jail free. But Gunray didn't want to work for the Sith anymore, and tried to contact the Jedi Council. Unfortuneately, Gunray ran into Dooku, who was a very important Jedi and all. But Gunray didn't know that Dooku was one of the Lost Twenty, and told him about how he was trying to ditch Sidious. He didn't know Dooku was a Sith Lord himself working for Sidious, and asked Dooku to go to the Council and tell them about the Sith. Dooku didn't, and lied to Gunray, telling him that he had, but the Jedi didn't believe nor trust the Viceroy. Then Dooku promised to help him instead... When Gunray found out about Dooku's allegience with Sidious sometime shortly before AOTC, he paniced. But it was too late for him to turn back. And that's why Gunray was more a victim of circumstances than anything else. Whew... that was long. Sorry about that. 	Barriss_Coffee, Thank you very much for all your information and insight, it will really help this thread. Really apprieciate your time, patience, effort and devotion. Another question here, were 'Secruity' Battle droids legal? And here's another interesting thing to think about: IF the Jeid were to get past the door and into the bridge at the start of TPM, what do you think Gunray will say and do? WHat would the Jedi do? 	Gunray always has an escape plan upon escape plan upon escape plan. In other words, if one fails, he has one to fall back on. Gunray would've been long gone before Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan got through. 	It didin't seem he was making an attempt to flee when Qui Gonn was halfway through the door! hehe. He just stood there and fret. Scared out of his wits, pointing at the door, as if he could magically make everything the way he wants with a point of his finger. Such is the mindset of a greedy spoiled brat as Gunray. But I shoulden't condem him for that. We should never condem. We must study and analyize the reason behind the motives and the thoughts witin the mind of our beloved Viceroy. 	I'm not sure. I don't know too much about the EU Gunray. Interesting question here: What if Gunray was a Jedi/Sith? What would his lightsaber look like? What would he wear? 	Let us discuss Gunrays Love life. Did Nute ever have any lovers? PS.: I think he was secretly in love with Padme. Notice how he always gets all tense and show offy when he speaks to her in TPM, esp. when we fitst see them talk.
