Here's a question for you all...how do you think the Kaleesh make their mumuu masks? I thought about this last night and I have a theory, but I was wondering if any of you had any ideas...

Here's the url for that Titanium Series Grievous figure...he's the fifth one down. I really was hoping the sculptors would take advantage of the sturdier metal format to get him into a real good action pose at least as dramatic as his little Monopoly figure, but...alas...
http://www.starwars.com/collecting/news/hasbro/news20060801.html
A British collecting site has a 14th October 2006 release date for this figure listed. Don't know if that's world-wide or just for overseas.
I figure the Kaleesh actually carve and piece together portions of a Muumuu skull to make those masks and maybe add the teeth from some other species. The masks don't look anatomically plausible enough to me to have ever been carved from any skull 'as is'.

I think the mumuu mask comes from the broad front of the skull, between the mumuu's eyes. (of course that is in my imagined mumuu. It very well could be a dragony or bird like creature instead of a bovine type, and could have a very narrow skull!)
I picture the natural convex piece of skull is a good starting point for a mask, and yes, the teeth are added seperately, probably from differant species, inserted into carved out sockets. I can see a kaleesh sitting in front of a fire ritually carving the thing while singing to the gods using ancient, passed down stone tools that are kept in a painted leather sleeve of sorts. They thank the gods for the mumuu's (or other creatures..Ronderu had a karabbac mask) sacrifice. As they should.

That's some interesting ideas, guys! I thought though that the mumuu's head would be long and broad, like the teeth were a part of the skull and the skull widens as it covers the Kaleesh warrior's face...and the way they would make the eyeholes would be that they somehow measure the distance between their eyes and drill small holes in the middle of each eyehole they plan to carve out, then using some kind of tool or serrated tooth they would slowly carve out the small hole they drilled until they reach the outline of the eyehole they marked on the skull...I know, that probably makes no sense, but that's what I thought up last night...
And that figure, it looks almost exactly like my 2 1/2 inch pewter figurine I bought on E-bay, so no, I probably won't be investing another 20 dollars for the figure, although it does look cool!

Hello again!
I was planning on seeing Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man's Chest for the third time but it is leaving the theathers in my area pretty soon and I don't have the time to see it. Oh well. I will just have to wait until it comes out on DVD.
In other news tomorrow is the first step into the adult world for me. I'm starting Driver's Education. I'm slightly nervous but I think I will do fine.
I really want that Grievous action figure but I don't know if I will be able to get it. My parents are rather strict about what I spend my money on these days. It seems like no matter what I spend my money on they make me feel bad about it. I mean I really want a Grievous action figure so they should be okay with it. I could have had my chance when I was on vacation. I saw a Star Wars Shop in a small town but we had my dog with us so we couldn't stop. I was rather sore at my dog because of this. Oh well. Maybe next time.
Well I have to go now but see you later.

Hey Shadow! Driver's Ed? Gods, I'm glad I got through that and got my license...
I only saw Pirates once, so you should feel lucky you got to see it twice and it's definitely on my DVD list when it comes out(that and X-men 3)
That kind of sucks, if it's your money you should be allowed to spend it how you like but I guess your parents want to save it for something more important which is understandable...they should let buy at least one Grievous figure..

Hello Hello!
Gods, I've been away from this thread for a whole page and a half it looks like.
You guys have done well. Mumuu masks and the new Grievous figure.
The brilliant, cybernetic mastermind behind the successes of the droid army of the Separatists, General Grievous leads the series of lightning strikes that opens a corridor for the invasion of Coruscant itself. Beyond his status as a military genius, he is also a cunning and devoted warrior driven equally by a love of combat and the rage he feels at his mutilation and imprisonment within a lifesaving cyborg frame. Though he first appears on the Republic HoloNet as a wartime rumor, he quickly grows to the status of legend as the Republic meets defeat after defeat at his hands. Trained in lightsaber combat by Count Dooku, his mythical status is cemented after single-handedly defeating no less than five Jedi on Hypori. He meets a warrior's death at the hands of Obi-Wan Kenobi after a brutal, bare-knuckle fight.
I love those little background stories that come with figures and statues like that. The Mouth of Sauron Bust has a creepy little write-up.
As far as the mumuu, I think we have only a front portion of the skull here. I think the Kaleesh would use the whole mumuu for different things. Maybe use their skins for clothing or rugs or something. Maybe their meat tastes good too.
But I think most of the Kaleesh animals should be of a reptile sort. In that case, I picture the mumuu having a full skull with the front end (The mask part) outstretched a bit. Then maybe a long neck that reaches back to the rest of the body.
They want to look like a mumuu in some sense. So that part of the skull is probably unchanged except for war paint and decorations.
Random thought... to me, the masks of the Kaleesh are an important part of their culture and the masks themselves should be worn with a great sense of pride. Anyone who disrespects a war mask or mocks it would be frowned upon. That's why GG chose to model his head off of the mask. It's a big part of his Kaleesh look and an important item. One that connects him to his former life.

Hey Palpy! Long time, no see...yet I knew you would be back!
Yeah, definitely frowned upon, like Dooku should have had his limbs cut off when he took Grievous's...oh wait, he DID have his limbs cut off, maybe Anakin was acting on some kind of revenge for Grievous...
Great ideas about the mask, guys...I mean after all we are the Kaleesh Cultural Department, right?

I imagine the Kaleesh keep giant milk aphids and have problems with predators carrying out aphid mutilation.
...I actually have Grievous' mom as a dairy manager in a little comic series I'm doing >_>

That's what Lailo (er, the name I made up for Grievous's mom) wanted but then Sheela noticed the lack of education people in the military were getting so a plan was made to become a famous warlord to help the people of Kalee etc....

Now, now(and to quote Captain Kirk from ST3) young minds, fresh ideas, must be tolerant...actually, I think it's an hilarious idea, I mean I come up with crazy ideas like that for Grievous all the time and no one thinks I'm weird...or do they?
Which brings me to another topic...if Grievous worked in a candy factory, what kind of candy do you think he would like to make the most? Mumuu mask shaped chocolate bars? Lightsaber pixie sticks, etc?
