RE: Official General Grievous Fanclub
I hear ya Palpy. I think the team of animators did a PHENOMENAL job creating Grievous. He looks so dang real. In the close up of his face, where he's goading Obi and you see the third eyelid twitch at the bottom of one eye, I swear it looks like they ripped those beautiful orbs out of a live crocodile or something. To me, its like, "thats a real kaleesh inside that suit..and he's acting up a storm!
Such is the power of good special effects.
Just think, one day we will look back on it (when there are even newer advances in animation) and say 'that doesn't look so real after all!" Hard to believe, but probably true. I'm wondering how good this tv show due out in 2008 will look.

I think that in the context of the Star Wars films themselves, Grievous will always look impressive. Yes, animation gets better with time. Just look at the 'Chronicles of Narnia.' Aslan, Maugrim, The Ankle Slicers (See Signature
) all look so real. But if you just look at Episode III and remember what was, I think it will always have that effect. Those Kaleesh eyes will always hold a power.

Yeah, the extreme close-up to Grievous' eyes was one of my most favorite scenes in the movie, those eyes looked so real that they had mucus and wetness, and of course the twitching eyelid.
And I agree, Palpy, Aslan looked like a real lion that was able to speak, and the other creatures, although I have to admit, sometimes CGI makes thing look too good and they come off being fake, but Grievous interacting with Obi-Wan was done so well, I couldn't tell that Grievous wasn't really there..
Gods, it's good to see some activity in here after I went to bed...now if I can just my blasted phoneline to stop acting up!

I agree, i couldnt tell the difference between the real people and GG, if only the battle was longer and not spent running.

I agree, I think they ended the lightsaber duel too quickly...I've always believed that Grievous shouldn't have went out like he did, it should have been a lightsaber duel to the death...but, I didn't write the script so...

Oh man, I forgot to visit this place on Talk Like A Pirate Day.
Anyway, I have just drawn a pre-cyborg Grievous. I thought you might like to see it:
I studied alot of different species of reptiles (and Predator) to get an accurate look for him.
His skin colour was the hardest thing to do. I liked the little patches on his eyes, they are very cute just like the ones real lizards have. But I also wanted more variety in the tone so I coloured over it to make a cool effect.
Another challenge was too not make him look too fish-like. I think now that I have coloured him in he doesn't look like that any more.

Nice drawings, Courtney!
I like the scythes too! The color looks great. And welcome back, it's good to see club members come back and share their Grievous wares!
Speaking of which, I can't wait to get my Gentle Giant Grievous mini-bust from StarWarsShop.com.
Yeah it was fun! Did you see all the threads in the YJCC...gods, people went nuts over it, but some of the mods hated it, party poopers!

Well, I do love my Grievous with a scythe! It just looks cool, it's alot of fun to draw too. I originally drew a spear, but I instead decided to create a weapon for the Kaleesh that didn't look exactly like something we already have here on Earth.
The blade is inspired by a knife T-Bag had in the third episode of Prison Break, it was said to cause alot of damage. Plus it had an interesting shape. I coloured it in with a mixture of purple, blue and brown because trees on Kalee probably aren't all brown like we have here.
I have been spending most of my time in the JCC, I am quite well known over there now. So if you want to find me, that's where I'll be.

Oh I bet that'll be awesome.
I myself got this Narnia action figure pack with White Witch, Otmin and Ginarrbrick. They are so detailed. Not allowed to have it until Christmas.
Funny how I still look forward to that kind of thing at my age.
But I think it's fun to still get some toys during the holidays.
Especially since I also get some other stuff like busts and statues.
Anyway, back to GG.
Nice drawings there Courtney.
Such talent you have. Of course I too have talent. I am writing a GG scene for "Wrath of Justice" involving the cyborg General and the latest addition to his fine collection.
Oh and speaking of images, there are some neat pics over in your "Of this Life" thread, Ludo.
QueenMoreta
was inspired by your story to play around with some Grievous screen shots. Placing him in two ANH pics. Looks pretty sweet.
Check em' out.

Pretty cool, Palpy, it sucks you have to wait until Christmas, but at least you'll have something cool to open under the tree!
And OMGs, those pics were awesome!
Brought me out of my writing funk, it has!
And I can't wait to check out your latest installment of 'Wrath of Justice'!

RE: Official General Grievous Fanclub
Oi...Why Hello There Everyone!!
Don't say it!! I know, I know...Probably thought I was all dead by now...
Well, to ease you all...I am not!
Just overly stressed and under siege of all kinds of activities that always keep me occupied lately...I feel so ashamed for not checking in here for such an incredibly long time now!
Grievous will have my head for this, I just know it!!
Oh mercy....Please be patient with me guys, I'm really trying to get myself back in line again! I have so many things on my mind which are all but shrieking at me to be fulfilled and yet I never seem to get through them properly. -____-
College is a pain in the .... , I really need to get used to it again...
Ooookay, enough of all the banter!!!
Gosh Palpy, you really have some sweeeet things wating for you this Christmas Eve!!
A whole new wave of brand new additions to your collecctioon!!
That's so awesome!
( I'll still be in need of a Narnia DVD this X-mas meself...Hehehe!
)
MAN!! I'll try to get to all of your stories too dear fellows, not to mention finally updaiting my own which has been sitting stranded who-knows-how long, with me already having the new chapter half done and never having the opportunity OR muse to finish it!! DAMN!!!
Frustratiiiing chores of Real_Life sucking away my inspirations!!
Ahh...really sorry for all the swaying in and out of contact my friends! I'll really try to check in more frequently after things have settled down again somewhat...
Please keep GG under control for me as much as you can! Wouldn't want to write my own testament too early for comfort...
**GULP** Nice little cyborg...
GREAT HUGS TO YOU AAAALL!!!
Cheers!

By my Kaleesh ancestors, catgirl returns!
Yes, we and Grievous have missed you!
Yeah, I understand DRL's machinations in our lives, I'm actually working overtime at Darth Work tonight so I won't be on until tomorrow sometime.
As for my story, I hope to update it tomorrow or Monday, Moreta's pics really brought me back...you should check out the links she posted catgirl if you can!(they're in my story thread.)
Well, I wish everyone happy Grievous dreams and to keep this place alive...LONG LIVE GRIEVOUS!!
