On the plus side, you can be sure that no matter what he looks like, Grievous will make sure literal heads get rolling.

O-kay! Even better! Now here's a link to an image of Grievous on a Clone Wars poster! Dunno who the babe behind Grievous is supposed to be--Asajj?--but I'll bet he already hates her 'just because'. Posted by wolfarcher on one of the small screen star wars threads...

It IS Ventress! Just got through watching the two Clone Wars trailers (finally!), and in the hosted 'intro to Clone Wars' one, the director talks about getting to know fan-fav Asajj Ventress better over clips of that same character. He also said we'd get to "see a lot more of General Grievous"--yay! No new clips of him aside from a tiny bit of him standing with what I guess were supposed to be Dooku, Wat Tambor and Nute Gunray, but hey!--"a lot more". That's good enough for me for now...

Other plus: Although I personally find most of the character designs in this new movie/series bland and unappealling to look at when it's just a still or illo, they do look a lot better when they're animated...it's all the dramatic lighting effects and camera angles distracting me, I suppose.

Con: Dramatic or not, it's still just television-quality CGI art and animation.

Another sort-of con (which could trigger major amounts of unintentional hilarity down the line so I guess it's not as 'con' as all that): The new young apprentice character comes across in her clips exactly the way you'd expect she would given her appearance, as a cross between Inspector Gadget's genius neice Penny and a feisty Bratz girl. Clearly designed for marketing towards a female preteen/young teen audience...which is the exact same demographic prone to churning out fanfic devoted to wussifying every hot exotic misunderstood villain-character known to man. (More snugglywookims/allheneedsislove Grievous interpretations here we come, wheeee!)

Hi, I'm back, sort of. I doubt anyone remembers who I am. I was posting a lot back in the day of the Micro Series of Clone Wars and Star Wars Episode 3 Revenge of the Sith. Just want to let you know I haven't given up on the G-man. He still has a very special place in my heart as a truly unique villain in my book. Hope everyone has been doing well and I might pop my head in from time to time in this thread. Once again, hope people remember who I am. Hi Ludo Kreesh. Hope you remember me as the person who has a General Grievous Cardboard Cut-out. GENERAL GRIEVOUS FTW!

I sort of remember you, Shadow. I pop in from time to time, and I've definitely not forgotten Grievous either. It's such as shame that this club (and the LJ community) are practically dead - fingers crossed that it'll all pick up again once the 3D TV series premieres. That's in what, 4 or 5 months?

I find this interpretation of Ventress to be prettier in the face (but I can't say anything of her outfit, which is more revealing than usual XP)

Hey, wanna read an wangsty Grievous funeral story set to My Chemical Romance's "Helena"? (not to mention a Qymaen/Ronderu fic using "You Are My Sister" by Antony & the Johnsones)

Thought so. I'm kidding around (although the lyrics are pretty fitting for the disposal of a ruthless military commander). It seems like the idea well is rather dry for Grievous because of this "ruthlessness" which seems to translate as flatness. I can imagine the General as being the paranoid sort (married the 10 wives to avoid the ghosts of his/her fallen comrades when the lights are turned off...yes "Sheela" is still around. Sleeps with a knife. But contributes to improving public education!)

People are going to start shipping Grievous and Ahsoka because she's a Togruta like Shaak Ti. Wouldn't mind a scene with her outwitting Smelly Boy, though.

hi fellow Grievous fans. Just thought I would drop by to let you know I haven't forgot about this place. I got Star Wars RC the other day were you play as Delta Squad. Sad to say you only see Grievous talking to one of his body guards before he takes off in his ship. and it's not a close up either but it's a good game never the last.

Yeah, I think it comes out in theaters in August(check Biddybot's posts, I think she posted the exact date) so I'm definitely looking forward to that.

From what I understand it's going to premiere in theaters as a series of episodes and then it should be on TV although I'm don't know all the details.

George is on a Star Wars kick this decade. You've got Star Wars: The Clone Wars coming out in August, as Ludo said, which is not to be confused with the Clone Wars miniseries years back that was on Cartoon Network and first introduced us to Grievous. This new one is a CGI theatrical movie that will kickstart an animated series on Cartoon Network, also called Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Confused yet? But there's more!

Then there's the live action Star Wars TV show they've been talking about for years. It keeps getting pushed back, but since they haven't started filming yet, my guess is we won't see it until 2010 at the earliest. It takes place after ROTS, so no cyborg Kaleesh were harmed in the filming.

So you've got:

The Clone Wars miniseries
Star Wars: The Clone Wars movie
Star Wars: The Clone Wars tv show
Star Wars tv show

yeah why would anybody be confused doh!

On the other hand, it means there's a the potential for a lot more Grievous face time.

Ditto on being impatient about seeing Grievous on the big screen again! First movie since TRANSFORMERS that I'm planning on actually seeing in a theatre, too.

The latest: My expectation right now is that the theatrical Clone Wars movie due out August 15th will essentially be a re-edited version of the first couple of episodes of the Clone Wars TV series airing this fall on the Cartoon Network, possibly augmented by some extra footage created especially for the movie. This is the sort of thing that's been done in the past with shows like the original Battlestar Galactica...the two-part TV series opener there doubled as a theatrical release in some countries, thanks to some creative editing and the insertion of extra scenes and an alternate ending. I'm also not expecting to see a huge amount of screentime for Grievous in the movie--the TV show's meant to revolve about the adventures of Anakin and his apprentice, after all--but there should be enough that you're left wanting to see a lot more of the character in the series. Whether the new Clone Wars will be written to fit into the larger 'canon' timeline spanning the three prequel movies and the cel-animated Clone Wars or whether it's going to be a new stand-alone series that freely revamps everything as it goes along is still unclear at the moment. Personally, were I in charge of the Lucas gang, I'd say nutz to continuity and go for whatever's fun and entertaining, but then I've always been a canon-tweaker from way back.

The best place to keep track of what's going on with the upcoming Clone Wars movie and TV series, and the eventual live-action TV series that's still pretty much in the planning stages, is over in what's now called the 'Live Action, Clone Wars & Classics' forum. There's already a thread devoted to Mr. Grievous there, so yeah--people are interested...

http://boards.theforce.net/live_action_clone_wars_classics/b10467/28330015/p1/?27

If you're into the toys, you can also check out how his newest CW figurine self is looking over at the rebelscum.com forums. (It's looking gawdawful IMO and I can only hope it's still a prototype!)

http://threads.rebelscum.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=3076374&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1#3076374

More to come, I'm sure. Here's to a Grievousy spring and summer for all!
