Heh, actually there is something up...at least one episode in the series which already looks very, very promising...

Check it out!

Grievous actually looks--well--villainous here! (It's the mean eyes, I think.)

I am so excited for this episode! I just really hope we don't have to wait until The Lair of General Grievous to see him in the series. praying

Doesn't he have two themes? Are you talking about the music that starts just as he gets out of his escape pod on Utapau? I liked that one...

The choir part from that is good, but the motif itself isn't that great, IMO.

It is the twelfth episode in the first season... So that's (at least) twelve weeks after the first episode is aired... sad

Yeah, the 12th episode, although I saw a clip from the show called 'The Battle of Christophisis', it was really good!

Woooo Grievous!

I recently bought the Mighty Muggs figure, the new Clone Wars one, and got the Warren Fu concept Grievous as a gift. I'm stoked for the new series. Considering that I probably embarassed myself at the screening of the trailer at CIV (being in a Kaleesh tropical holiday getup).

Ahsoka is the interspecies lovechild of Shaak ti and Qymaen! At least I think fangirls will start speculating

Actually, the battle clip you're referring to is not from the series, but rather from the upcoming August 15th film. wink

Just got back from days off and had a chance to leaf through the young adult novelization of the Clone Wars movie, the photo-story of same, and assorted other stuff aimed at the kid end of the merchandizing market.

Sad news: Grievous does not factor in the main plot of the movie at all. He wasn't even mentioned anywhere. He may have a cameo scene or two--there's a really nice portrait shot of him in the photo section of the novelization and he's on the back cover of the kids' book 'The Battle Begins'--but for those of you hoping to see him strut his stuff and interact with the other characters, I guess you'll have to wait until he does so in the series instead. One good reason for his absence is that this movie appears to be set very early on in the Clone Wars timeline, earlier than I first expected. The good guys may well not even be aware of Grievous yet, in which case the series really is the better choice to properly introduce his character...you'd have a chance there to draw things out in a suspenseful, foreboding way, starting with rumours, then battle evidence of a formidable new enemy at large, etc...could actually work out for the best in the end. However, I for one will no longer be lining up for this movie at the theatre. There's still stuff in it that I'd like to see, but it can wait until the DVD's out now...

Without giving anything away...the main plot of the movie is about Dooku trying to sway the Hutts into joining the Separatist movement by making our fav Jedi look as bad as possible and said Jedi doing their best to prove Dooku wrong. Dooku seems to be the chief baddie and gets to see a bit of action. At least six new characters are introduced (Asajj Ventress and the alien Bratz girl/padawan included). The movie overall looks really dark, and I mean that literally--even those scenes that take place outdoors in broad daylight, you'd swear that the sun or suns in question must've been undergoing an eclipse every single flippin' time. Very much kid oriented, moreso than the first Clone Wars cartoons. That's not necessarily a bad thing, just something to keep in mind before grumbling about plot simplicities or cuteness factors...

The other Clone Wars-y thing I did this past week was check out the movie's toy line offered over at Toys R Us. The new CW Grievous design looked as wonky to me in person as in pictures, but I wound up buying one of the figures anyway. And am I glad I did! This is one figure which looks SO much better once out of the packaging...I'd go so far, in fact, as to say it's even got a certain stylistic elegance to it which is really starting to grow on me. Not a good-quality figure, however. It's made entirely out of soft plastic, which easily warps, and has very limited articulation. The 4-arm option is even worse. There, you get one pose, and one pose only, and because of the soft plastic problem, you may have a very hard time persuading your Grievous to hang onto his lightsabers, let alone stand upright at all. Still, I'm glad I got this figure, and now that I can see what he'll look like from all angles, find that I like our boy's new looks just fine. He even makes me laugh--my figure does, I mean. This is probably because I deliberately chose one that's got slight cross-eyes, and if there's one thing I can't take seriously, it's a cross-eyed villain...

So, thumbs down on the Clone Wars movie insofar as Grievous content is concerned, but thumbs up on how things are looking for him otherwise. I'll take that for now...

Please be careful in any spoilers for the movie. I'm sure there are many here who want as little information as possible before viewing the movie and would appreciate if you HTR the movie spoilers.

If you wish to discuss it more openly, I'd suggest you visit the LACWAC forum.

Oh, damn. The TV series starts early October, doesn't it? That's far too long to wait! sad

@Biddybot: Ah well, that's a shame about the movie. I feel a bit better knowing that it takes place pretty early on in the clone wars - I was getting worried that Grievous would just be another minor character that would pop up now and again.

I laughed at your cross-eyed Grievous figure. Sucks about the crappy plastic though. Are there any good quality Grievous (or really any Star Wars) figures? Most of them seem to be pretty below average.

Okay! This is more like it! Found something nice to counter what I wrote about in the above post. Go to the below link and check out two of the pics, the first and the third, which Super_Battle_Droid posted about two thirds of the way down the page. In that third pic, it's the image in the upper right corner you'll want to look at. It's the sort of thing that makes me start mumbling to myself "it's just for kids made for kids nothing to do with reality it's just for kids...(repeat ad nauseum)" and as soon as you look at it you'll know the reason for the mumbling. The link is to a SPOILER thread, so expect SPOILERS, but you already knew that...

Millie: I tried to think of a good quality Grievous figure for you, but they all seem to have their flaws! I've learned to love 'em anyway and have way too many. The best-looking figures are all fairly to very expensive display type pieces--I can find some links to those if you're interested. The tackiest figure is probably the Grievous's demise one, the one that 'recreates' his 'fiery demise', complete with plastic flames shooting out of his mask's eye sockets. You can also get an 'exploding' Grievous, which falls into pieces, gutsack included. I think he may be the only character with two distinct and different death figures. Double the choice of how to kill him off for double the fun and play value, I guess.

Oh Gods! Give me a break! laugh Grievous gets trussed up in acension cables like an animal!(and by clones no doubt...he could easily dispatch them in 30 seconds like he did in the original CW series) And he has a pet named Gor! Holy Kaleesh Warlords, maybe they should dress him in drag and have him perform slave girl dance routines in Jabba's palace!

If what Super_Battle_Droid posted is going to be in 'Lair of Grievous', I don't know...I hope Grievous really rips into those Jedi(although if Kit Fisto's there, he won't die, he'll just escape, they can't let a main character like Fisto die so soon.) And if not, he should be able to go postal on some clones!

I have to say that they got his look pretty close to the movie version, so I'm probably going to check out the series(yes, I think I can put up with the cutesy stuff! rolling_eyes tongue ) But like Biddybot, I'm not going to see it in theaters.
