darth_Boba posted on 5/23/05 7:36pm My explanation for the sudden lack of multicolored sabers is that before the Clone War, many Jedi used the lightsabers that were most important to them. Usually, these were ones they had built during their training and used many exotic crystals resulting in a variety of colors. When the Clone War began, starting with the battle of Geonosis, the chance of losing their most prized lightsabers increased, so the Jedi decided to switch to the more easily replaceable and acessable blue and green crystals found on Ilum. This also accounts for the appearance of less than half a dozen different lightsaber designs. Mace Windu decided to keep his "special" lightsaber, as he felt sure enough in his skills that he would never lose it.
