the weight of the hilt can vary. The blade is completely weightless. That is why lighsabers are said to be more dangerous to the person that weilds it. It is hard to judge where a blade is so its easy to kill yourself.


Jedi spend years training before they actually get a lightsaber

The theory that the Jedi were using "backup" lightsabers was contradicted by the point the a Jedi can only own one lightsaber at a time.

But they probably don't technically OWN the those "backup" lightsabers. The Jedi must have a supply somewhere in the Temple. In the arena in AOTC, Master Windu tosses Anakin a green lightsaber and Obi-Wan a new blue one. Unless Windu stole those both off a fallen Jedi (unlikely), he got them from a supply somewhere. Plus, Anakin makes his own blue lightsaber again and so does Obi-Wan. They probably put those lightsabers back were they came from.

Sorry, a tad off topic, but I wanted to share some ideas.

That website made me think that if a group of scientists got together and decided to make a lightsaber for real, I don't think that it would be legal to carry around. I can't even get on a plane with toenail clippers, imagine trying to get past airport security with one of those things.

Seriously, imagine just how dangerous one of those would be if they were real.

There is definetly one problem with Lightsabers in the movie: They cast shadows, I dont think that lasers can do that.

No, the shadows are there in the DVD. Was hoping they erase it somehow, damn! Anyway, I read in one of these threads and couldn't remeber the website add about a group of scientists that have stopped light travel, like a lightsaber but this is only light. We have laser techonology now and we have a group of dudes that successfully controlled distance of a light travel. Are we there yet? Thereotically, it is not impossible for real lightsaber to come into being. We are just not that advance yet. As everyone knows that in due time, what we see in the screen will be reality but the fun bit is, it will be much sooner than you think!

After you enter, the index is on the lft in Aurebush(sp). Waving you cursor over it shows it in english. I have been reading over the history index which gives brief descriptions of each saber shown on the films and with EU and vid game characters, along with pics.

I just found it and put it on my favorites.
