Which of Padme's outfits are your favorites? I like the red senate gown with the elaborate 'antler' hairdo she wore as queen in TPM. There are others but that's the first one I thought of.

Oh, there are so many....can't I just say all of 'em? grin Because on her, well, that's very much true.... Still, I know that the rainbow Naboo gown from AOTC was one of my big favourites straightaways....I came out of that midnight premiere just knowing that I'd love to have a reproduction of that dress for myself, and now I do....oh, *so* pretty....look at the flowy silky prettiness. happy Of course, it very much helps if one also has a tall and sexy, adoring, devoted and passionate and *incredibly* lustable young Jedi protector around to run his fingers over one's bare back....mmmmmm....where was I? Oh, yes.... wink *ahem* And her Tatooine arrival outfit, also from AOTC....fahbuloso!....and the blue deleted scenes family gown, absolutely gorgeous, and that's another one I'm very much wanting. grin And, yes, the black corset gown - smoldering with the desire and the love that she already held in her heart, even then....whether or not she consciously realized it, after all, the heart always knows. happy

Besides, it's positively bee-*yew*-ti-ful, and she's equally stunning and breathtaking in it.... And her wedding dress, oh, of *course* - so beautiful, unique and soft....all that intricate lace and detailing, and she just looked such a vision of loveliness in it....mmmmmm, wonderful! happy And certainly I had my faves in TPM, too....the first red gown was always so striking, so completely unlike anything else we'd ever seen before - majestic, regal, but also it definitely has that sense of history and tradition to it. I also quite like that beaded white-and-silver kimono number she wore, once back on Coruscant and grappling with Senate frustrations....very impressive, to be sure, so intricate and spectacularly-designed - you just can't take your eyes off it, really....drinkin' it up in every detail, every time it's on. At least, that's what I find.... happy

And certainly I have my faves in ROTS....that beautiful, pale blue silken, pearl-accented nightgown she wears - beloved, treasured, precious japor snippet and all.... happy *happy loving sigh* And that dark, deep rich blue gown she wears when she's comforting Anakin, after Obi-Wan has left for Utapau....it's just so - well, it's marvellously rich, like I said, and it just looks so velvety and luxurious....really quite enchanting, and of course, completely mesmerizing. And, yes....among the many, many others, to be sure....no doubt one simply has to mention her final, funeral gown....*so* tragically, compellingly, heartrendingly beautiful; with the Naboo lilies in her hair, and certainly with the iridescent, light-shimmering blue fabrics of the gown, she really is very much like Ophelia....something that I understand they were kind of inspired by, or subtly hearkening back to, in the design and realization of this dress.

So hauntingly gorgeous....so ethereally, peacefully, tenderly beautiful, even then.... *wistful sigh*

Dawn.

I would so raid Padmé's closet if I were about half my size tongue !

My favorite is her sexy Jedi-baiting Nubian corset. Guaranteed to lure Anakin into your clutches or your money back. I'd say her TPM parade dress, the wedding dress, the picnic dress, the ROTS nightgown, and her funeral dress are among my favorites as well.

I have no clue how I've managed to miss this thread -- Padme is my favorite character!

And, ooh, I'm just in time for the costume debate. My favorites:

When I think "Queen Amidala", this is the image that appears in my mind. Beautiful gown. The red is so striking.

I've always loved the Battle Dress. Elegant but functional.

Beautiful, just beautiful.

I love this outfit. Reminds me of Leia's white dress in ANH.

I love the Meadow Picnic dress. Probably my all-time favorite.

My two favorites from ROTS.

Whats great about Padme is that even when she wass dead (in her funeral), she still carried a sense of warmth that is the Padme we know and love.

And then, too, another thing you realize from her funeral procession.... *sniff* ....and in seeing the huge crowds which turned out to pay their respects to her, one more time....to stand in tribute and honour of the former queen, and the senator, who'd fought so hard for her planet and beloved people....well, it was only ever more clear, I think, just what a tremendous impact she *did* have on everyone - in the large things and the small, on the most galactic of scales and in the most intimate and personal of ways....she touched them all. And her presence, the strength, courage, warmth, compassion and light of her being - oh, it clearly had huge repercussions, and affected *everyone* who knew her....be it only by name or reputation, or those who worked with her directly and personally....*everyone* seemed to respect her, to love and respond to her....to the innately, purely *good* person that she was, inside, and she radiated that like a sustaining, nurturing, life-giving flame.

Everyone was touched by that, and moved by her....I mean, as the procession is going by, you can hear the muted sobs and cries of pain and anguish, and you *know* beyond a shadow of a doubt that her death has simply shattered these people; she was their queen, their senator, their brave warrior....and when she was gone, it must have seemed like the most crushing, devsatating and irrevocable blow imaginable....a real, personal and intimate tragedy for *everyone* there, because they all must've felt like they'd lost a near and dear loved one....because in all the ways which mattered most - they really had. Another thing I notice, too....is how very completely downtrodden, forlorn and just plain dispirited and *sad* beings like Jar-Jar truly are at that moment....it's like the light has gone out of their lives, and without it, they just don't know what could possibly come next, how to go on from here.

Just look at Jar-Jar's subtle reaction, for instance, as the procession trails along behind her casket.... What a terribly painful, distressing thing this must be for him....to remember how Padme was the first human he'd ever met to show him real warmth and respect, to treat him not as "less than" but as a being with equal stature and rights....she did, truly, treat him as an equal - accepted him, and trusted him, and gave him all her good faith....and that's an immeasurable gift, for sure - what she did for him, the lifelong and powerful effect she had on him. She came into his life, too, and changed it forever....and at least in this sense, *very* much for the better, I think - simply for having known her! And they all were, too....so much better off for having known her, been warmed and inspired by her, I mean; she brought them all together in ways that maybe no one could have imagined before, but *she* did it!

And it was simply because she cared, too....out of compassion, sincerity, and a desire to see good done for all beings....and very, *very* fortunate they were, indeed, to have someone like Padme Amidala in their corner - fighting for them, caring about them, doing what's right....out of her noble heart and courageous soul. Would that there were more politicians like her, I'm thinking....then they'd not have such a bad rap after all.... happy Heck, would that there were more folks like Padme around in *general*....just think what good could be done....just look at the good that *she* did, on the grand scale and in the most intimate and personal of ones....and you just know! grin
