Well, to make some noise around here...

A fourth Star Wars Celebration has been scheduled for May 2007 in L.A.. Anybody thinking of going?

Personally, I'm not so sure about going to this one. Despite the 30th anniversary, why get so excited? The live-action TV series isn't scheduled to start for another year or two later, and the whole Star Wars universe won't be in full-swing until then. I just don't know. 2007 seems too soon for me.

Knight Ander, thanks for the shiny news! And you better come out here! A Star Wars con in LA? Woo-hoo!! dancing

Seriously, let's get planning. I'm in Anaheim, which is only about thrity minutes away. Or three hours, depending on rush hour. I can pick people up from airports, we can hit the beach and do touristy stuff...I'm within walking distance of Disneyland people! grin

Start your CIV saving accounts now. Only twelve months to go! Yippee! happy

MTFBWY,
Andé...the SoCal handmaiden

ooooohhhhhhhh mygod. *does happy dance*

I am sooooo there. Even if I have to flippin walk till my feet bleed tongue

I would definitely love to see people again and do the touristy stuff with you Andé! I am soooo excited!! grin grin grin grin grin

Why get excited Ander? Because I love being around Star Wars nerds. I loooove getting dressed up in costumes and doing nothing but sitting in lines for days at a time. And since it'll be in LA next year, that means we shouldn't have to worry about it snowing, like it did in Indy... hopefully, right people? wink

2007 does seem a bit soon, but I think that's because I'm so used to waiting three years... this two-year thing is very new to me! tongue

Anybody thinking of dressing up as HMs? I was talking to my sisters the other day and we might have to coodinate. Mady wants to be the Battle Decoy Queen, and Rach and I were thinking of redoing our Battlemaiden outfits.

I'm going to be there, and I would love to do some touristy stuff some days before the con.

I don't think I'll be bringing my battle outfit, it weighs too much, and I'm planning on replacing the weight of all that velvet with Amidala's Return to Naboo. I would like to have something HM though, and I've been thinking about maybe doing a concept HM. Sure nobody except some of you would recognise it, but on the other hand you have quite a lot of freedom and don't need to get frustrated about not finding the exact fabric for it.

One thing to keep in mind for those folks who are flying - I think that weekend is Memorial Day next year, so LAX and most other US airports are going to be busy.

Alas, I really doubt that I'll be able to go. It would be nice, but certain circumstances in my life would have to change, and drastically so, between now and then to make it feasible.

(Like thousands of dollars falling out of the sky and landing at my feet. Of course, that money would have to come from somewhere...)

I would dress up as a handmaiden, if only in my room, but (another) alas, I can't do any sewing more complicated than sewing on a button, or fixing a rip. Still, if I did, I think I might wear the throne room dress from TPM -- the one based off art nouveau designs. Or maybe Dorme's goodbye dress.

I would like to have something HM though, and I've been thinking about maybe doing a concept HM. Sure nobody except some of you would recognise it, but on the other hand you have quite a lot of freedom and don't need to get frustrated about not finding the exact fabric for it.

I think that's a good idea, Obi Anne. It would be interesting to use the handmaiden outfits in the movie as a starting point, for a design that stays within the obvious traditions, such as the hooded cloak, but is different too.

LAX is going to be busy as heck no matter what or when. tongue Seeing as I'd probably be flying out of O'Hare... it won't be a lot better rolling_eyes

Ooooh, and OG Handmaiden dress... that would be very interesting to see. I have enough trouble deciphering the already made ones, I don't think I could creates something like that myself tongue I would love to see it if you do try, Obi Anne.

I remember seeing an OG Naboo Senator (Female) from between Sagas costume at the 2nd Celebration at the Costume contest. It was really beautiful. The woman who made it did a great job with the detailing. I don't quite remember as she not next to us in line. (Fire hazard anyone? geez whistling )

Now for something completely different:

I think I shall pretend to be mildly offended that the RHS isn't one of those floaty name thingys up on the new banner. We certainly have been here longer than The Lord of the Script Trilogy. shame_on_you

~Obischick~ peace

I want to make a handmaiden costume, especially the flame gown. Sadly, I am not that talented when it comes to dying or sewing or anything.

I think all should meet up somewhere happy

Ok, I'm not planning to do a totally original HM, it's more like taking one of the concept sketches that weren't used and turn that into fabric. At the moment I'm leaning towards doing something out of this one.
