Woohoo! More West Coastiness. :~) And yes, I do believe we need a gathering.
GenCon...hmmm...
Hey, I'm not ignoring your texts! We just don't have a plan with texting, so it costs us everytime we send/receive one. You know I love you. :~D
We'll have to chat about letter-writing/petitioning/at least putting up a notice on the site.
I found the niftiest skirt at the mall yesterday that just looks so much like it *should* be part of Dormé's purply senate gown. I'll try to post pics later.
Off for my date with my 3-year-old! Hugs all around.

I saw the GenCon thing too, and you know actually my first reaction was "hopefully that means that CV wont be held in 2009". I'm longing for another celebration, but there's not a chance that I would be able to make it for 2009, I still haven't paid back the money I borrowed for CIV. If it turns out that CV is in 2010 then at least I would have a chance.

Thanks!
I'm just glad there is more representation for the handmaidens.

I have made a number of handmaiden icons. They are here.
I already e-mailed Andé at the RHS, but I thought that I would also post here.

OK, here's the pic of the skirt that reminds me of Dormé:
Dorme-ish skirt
(You can tell I'm too obsessed when I buy things that remind me of handmaidens...hmmmmm!)
And I bought some fabric to try and make the yellow TPM throne room gown, but I can't decide which velvet I should get for the outer, hooded part:
Gold pleated fabric
The darker one looks too dark yellow to me sometimes, and the other is more of a camel color.
Help me, RHS! :~D Do you think either would work?

GB, Oh I love the skirt!
And I think the darker would be better than the lighter one.
And I love the icons

GB, I had hoped to make that dress this year, but I have to put it on the backburner since I can't afford, or even find any good fabrics at the moment. I think the darker looks better. From seeing the dress live I would say that the colour between the fabrics should be very similar, the difference comes off more in the difference of texture than difference in colour if you understand what I mean. Also have you found an already pleated fabric, or have you done it yourself? I was planning to do boxpleats myself for the costume, but that would also require a lot of fabric and time.

A friend of me who was also at Jedi-Con also found time to go to the film museum in Düsseldorf, and she took this picture I think it's nice to see that the only MOC, and only PT, figure displayed is Sabé!

Go, Sabé! Way to represent! :~D
As far as the fabric goes, I'm putting any velvet purchase on hold; I want to find a better match. I already bought the pleated gold fabric. It's a Waverly home-decorating fabric, probably meant for curtains or something. I'd prefer a true box-pleat for accuracy, but in the interest of my own limitations, I decided to go with the "scrunchy" fabric instead.

It's quiet in here. Too quiet, me thinks.
So I'll make some noise by reminding everyone that Ayesha "Queen Jamilla" Dharker will be in Friday's episode of Dr. Who on the Sci-Fi Channel. The episode, number 4 of series/season 4, is also available at youtube.com where I saw it. Ayesha works in public relations for a company that sells alien slaves in the episode. It may be just me, but I like her costume in this episode better than her costume in AOTC.
