New Question: Celebrating Yoda the teacher. If you could take any class from Yoda, what would it be?

I'd take self defense. If he could teach me to move like he did in ATOC when he fought Dooku, I'd never have to worry about my safety. tongue

Very true. I think I would opt for that one also. But I wouldn't mind him teaching me the ways of the force either, levitating objects and stuff - nice for showing off tongue

I thought I'd share my response to the "rewrite Yoda's death scene" on the OT board.

Death of a Jedi

Luke sighed as he carefully landed his X-Wing, his eyes taking in the sights of the dark, misty swamp Yoda called home. He smiled softly as he jumped to the ground, reaching into the Force for Yoda’s presence. He froze momentarily when all he felt was Yoda’s very weak Force signature.

“R2, stay with the ship,” he called out, fearing the worst as he raced towards Yoda’s small hut.

He stepped inside, frantically seeking Yoda. His mouth dropping open in shock at the sight of the great Jedi Master curled up in a ball on his bed.

“Master?” he gasped, moving tentatively towards the bed.

Yoda moaned softly as his eyes flickered open. He blinked rapidly for a few seconds until Luke’s worried face came into focus. “Skywalker,” he whispered, rolling onto his back.

“Master, what’s happened?” Luke rushed to his side, dropping onto his knees beside Yoda.

Yoda smiled bravely, his eyes brightening momentarily. “Good to see you again it is,” he replied before lapsing into a coughing fit.

Luke studied Yoda’s appearance closely, his heart breaking at the sight of his waxy, blue complexion.

“Sick have I become,” Yoda announced somberly. “Old and weak. Very soon one with the Force I will be.” He reached feebly for his blanket, struggling to pull it up to his chin.

Luke quickly reached down, grabbing the blanket and wrapping it snuggly around Yoda’s small frame.

“Master Yoda, you can’t die,” he insisted. “I..I’ve come back to complete my training.”

Yoda gazed at him compassionately. “Strong am I with the Force,” he answered, a smile beginning to form. “But not that strong.”

Luke swallowed the lump in his throat. “But I need you!”

Yoda reached out with his frail hand, patting Luke’s arm. “No more can I teach you,” he declared evenly. “Already know that which you need to fulfill your destiny.”

Luke inhaled deeply, squaring his shoulders. “Then I am a Jedi,” he proclaimed.

Yoda grimaced as he studied the pride on Luke’s face. Closing his eyes, he focused his remaining energy on teaching Luke one final lesson.

Luke never noticed the gimer stick as it rose from the ground and floated towards him.

WHACK!

“OW!” Luke rubbed his throbbing head. “Master?” He turned to Yoda in confusion.

“Sense your father’s arrogance in you,” Yoda sniffed. “Need that you do not.”

Luke looked away guilty. “Sorry, Master.” He sat quietly for a few agonizing seconds, gathering his courage. “Master,” he began softly. “Is Darth Vader my father?”

“No,” Yoda replied immediately. “Anakin Skywalker your father is.”

“But Anakin is Vader,” Luke protested, clenching his fists. So it was true.

“No!” Yoda pounded his fist angrily on the bed, sending him into another coughing fit.

“Died Anakin Skywalker did on Mustafar,” he finally gasped. “A creation of the Emperor Vader is. Your father he is not.”

Luke sighed heavily, his shoulders slumping.

“Face Vader you must.” Yoda struggled to finish his words. “Underestimate the power of the dark side do not or suffer Vader’s fate you will.”

“I understand, Master. I won’t let you down, I promise.”

Yoda gathered the last of his strength to beckon Luke closer.

“Luke...another…Sky..walker…there…is.” Yoda began to tremble. “Pass…on…what...you…have…learned.” With one last sigh, Yoda closed his eyes and died.

Tears fell freely down Luke’s face as he gazed at Yoda’s body. He patted Yoda’s hand, recoiling in shock when it suddenly disappeared under his palm.

“Good-bye, Master,” he whispered to an empty room.

As always your writing is very good indeed. it's similar, but it offers the extra edge of link with the PT. having the "need your fathers arrogance you do not," same as Yoda told OBW in TPM! Great wink

How are the other writings you are engaged in coming along?

I didn't get a chance to read your piece the other day Kelia. I like
the way you caught the pair. I still say he lived 900 hundred years and he couldn't have started that thought a few seconds earlier.

Is anyone in the club getting to go to C4? the celebration not the explosive material

I don't really know what C4 is - except for the explosives grin

Again, I must report that this fan club isn't all too active at the moment - perhaps it's spring that's responsible

C4 is the thirtieth anniversary of Star Wars celebration held in California. Unfortunately I won't get to go.

So who was around thirty years ago to see Star Wars before it got its new name(A New Hope)?

Me for one. My husband and I went to see it. Yes same husband.

I don't know when I first saw Star Wars (when it was still just Star Wars) but I remember it was at a drive in (anybody remember those? tongue )

And yes, I watched the movie...I was only 10 at the time. grin I do remember thinking, at the very end when Luke was blowing up the Death Star, 'just get it over with already,'

What can I say? I'm a girl. The action scenes aren't as interesting to me, although I love Yoda's. He can really move when he needs to.

What is the craziest Yoda fan thing you've ever done? Well it
doesn't have to be crazy.

My husband has Yoda wrinkles on his forehead and now his hair is thinning so I threatened to stretch his ears. Maybe that is crazy.

Haha! Not a bad idea Lea. Sounds like something I would do. tongue

I haven't really done any crazy Yoda things actually. I think the craziest thing I did was buy a little talking Yoda doll at target. He helps me sleep at night. grin

tongue

Hey C76! Haven't seen you in a while! How ya been?
