Kenobi = Height 5' 9½"

StormTroopers (Clones of Jango) = Must be a few inches smaller than 5' 9½"

Luke Skywalker = Height 5' 9"


So why doesn't Leia in Ep. 4 say "Aren't you a little TALL for a stormtrooper?"


Lucas should have caught this and put Jango in bigger heels.

I never really watched the scene closely enough to notice that. You could be right, I'll have to go back and check. You also might want to try the Continuity Thread for other views. happy

Maybe the stormtroopers were genetically altered to be taller then Jango.

Not sure where it would say that Luke is 5'9". I've met Mark Hamill and he is no where NEAR 5'9" in height. Maybe 5'7" in his cowboy boots.

Stormtroopers are not clonetroopers. By the time the OT came along, many stormtroopers were recruits, not clones. Therefore, their heights would vary.

Well, it is wrong.

Temuera Morrison (Jango Fett) is 5'7" tops.

Boba Fett, supposedly an exact copy, is played by 6'1" Jeremy Bulloch.


Mark Hamill is listed at 5'7" - 5'9" - a little taller than Morrison, shorter than Bulloch.


So, if stormtroopers are based on Jango then Luke is right to be a stormtrooper, maybe a little tall. If they are based on Boba then he is too "short".

Either way, Boba is 6 inches taller than Jango and therefore not a clone at all. And, of course, stormtroopers in the OT are all different heights anyway.


Makes you wonder why Lucas was so concerned about the (non genetic) accent issue...

Well...apparently he changed/matched the voices of Boba and Jango 'because he could'; supposedly he 'couldn't' match heights, unless he digitally altered one of them, I guess (not too far fetched, anyhow).

Yeah I met Mark Hamill and there is NO way he is 5'9". He is 5'7" at the VERY most. The man is short.

while the stormies in the OT weren't all templates of jango fett, and most of them weren't, i still think that they were all supposed to be clones. sure, there were recruits in the imperial navy and other branches of the empire, but i'm fairly certain that all of the stormtroopers were supposed to be clone resources.
