Yaphet Kotto (Alien's Parker) was originally offered the role of Lando Calrissian in ESB. He turned it down thinking that Lando was going to be killed off, thus adding another dead character to his fimography.
Also...the actor who played the Alien, 7' tall Bolaji Badejo, beat out another tall actor for the part--none other than our own hairball Peter Mayhew.
