Well, it's a fairly accurate depiction of Carrie Fisher circa 1978 from what I hear. tongue

Yeah, she definitely seems to be doing better now.

On a topic slightly more related to the team, are any of you excited about Star Wars: The Old Republic?

I did( in a very manly fashion of course. tongue ) And, I don't think it's fully sunk in yet that he's going to be the 44th President of the United States of America.

I'm looking forward to it, but I'm also worried about how time-consuming it's probably going to be. worried tongue

a little late, but i just wanted to tell you guys about my experience when i heard the outcome of the elections.

so i was at a volleyball game, and of course we had missed the entire process of tracking the number of votes coming in. we had just finished our game and my friends got in the car, turned on their radio and heard that Obama won. they told me and i got SO excited and unbelievably happy, that i yanked the strap right the heck off of my bag. like completely tore it off. i thought that pretty much showcased how i felt about him winning. grin

and i know most of you are thinking that why would someone like me, a Canadian, care so much, but you guys gotta know by now that everything you do, we are directly affected by it, so it is a pretty big deal. i think i also heard a statistic that more Canadians tuned in to see the American election compared to the Canadian ones.

anyway...back to SW grin

i just had a question for everyone...

so for those people that don't have kids right now, or have kids that haven't seen SW, do you plan on making your kid a fan like yourself? are you going to sit them down and make them watch the movies? and if you are, then what order would you want them to watch them in?

laugh That's awesome. I was just getting out of class and as I walked by the security desk, I suddenly heard the guards yell "Obama's President!" I assumed that they were projecting forward or something, thinking there's no way the election could be over already, and thought that until I made it into my car and listened to NPR, which confirmed it and caused me to drive home with a stupid grin on my face the entire time.

I'm just glad to see that our rep is possibly on the mend now.

I plan on it(though, I don't think it would guarantee that they'd be a fan) as my dad and I watched them when I was really young, and that's probably a part of why I like Star Wars as much as I do. I'm still unsure about the order I'd show them in, though. I can think of arguments for both ways. I might do 4 - 3 because then you get the dependable hero who doesn't fall before you get to the one who does, the "I am your father" surprise is preserved, and A New Hope explains the Jedi and the Force in a way that Phantom Menace doesn't. On the other hand, it would be really interesting to hear how someone who grows up with the entire Saga and is introduced to them in numerical order reacts to and takes in the series.

It would partially depend on the age as well. I wouldn't want to show them RotS if they were too young given that I imagine the dead Younglings and Anakin burning could be fairly traumatic for a younger child while the OT has nothing that's quite so dark. I mean, going from my own experience, the thing I found creepiest about the OT was Jabba. I mean, Vader was 'scarier' but he was scary in a way that a kid can find cool.

OMG, about the election…I was first terribly happy and then ended up crying the next morning…
I was out campaigning with the “No on Prop 8” crew and we kept getting all these good news from the Dem. headquarters. Then I got home, had dinner, turned on the tv and there it was – the election results. I was so totally happy! But it took a while to sink in though.
However, Prop 8 passed (with a SMALL margin I must mention)…and that REALLY upset and POed me. sad

I was disappointed about Prop 8 as well(given that I view it discrimination), however we may want to drive the thread back towards Star Wars to avoid alienating posters who don't hold that same position. tongue
