I guess I'm not one. I like Jedi more than Empire, I think Mark's actually a good character actor, etc. I do think Han should shoot first and don't like Hayden's ghost but I fail the test in that I like a lot of the things true fans don't.

I pretty much stopped reading when he got to the Mark Hamill bashing. He doesn't represent me. He does, however, represent the SW fan that's desperate to be cool, that is afraid to like anyone but Boba Fett and Han Solo, and that generally talks about SW only to hear him/herself speak. If I wasted my time with that type of SW fan, I'd have been sick of the saga after a couple of months.

I guess im not a true Star Wars fan. I love the orginal trilogy and the prequals. I love the EU and the games. Yes, there are some things wrong with it but it can be over looked

I'm not sure you can be a fan of anything and hate the object of your fandom. Isn't that sort of contradictory? I find it understandable to hate/dislike parts of Star Wars, though I call myself a Star Wars fan and I like the saga/universe as a whole.

I think there's a lot of truth in that article, especially when it comes to older fans.
For instance, I love SW and ESB. They were the one-two punch that cemented my love for SW in 1977-1980. I grudgingly accept ROTJ as a deeply flawed but necessary third act to my favorites. I have little to no use for the prequels. I am irritated by the "special(now official) editions, and by the fact that the original theatrical versions are treated like dirt. The few EU works I have read bored me to tears. I don't read the comics, I'm indifferent to the videogames. The few items that I have collected harken exclusively to the first two fims. With the exception of those two films from 1977-1980, I wouldn't blink an eye if everything "Star Wars" suddenly dissapeared from the face of the earth.
So, am I a Star Wars fan or not? I wonder.....

I'd say so anyway, just a specific variety. I'd even say people who only like Star Wars but not Empire, Jedi, Menace, Clones, or Sith are Star Wars fans though so I may use the term more inclusively than some.

If you run into somebody who tells you they thought the franchise was quite enjoyable, and they very-much liked the originals as well as the prequels, and even own everything on DVD, and a few of the books, these imposters are not Star Wars Fans.
So i guess that i'm not a Star Wars fan  all of these years and i'm not a fan?!
