He'd deal with it. Certainly long enough to waste the girl.

One question - was Ackbar aware of Alpha Red's existence, and if he was, would the Exile be allowed access to it (this last one is directed more towards Inty)

Kypt ... I didn't read NJO, just got summaries ( ) ... care to explain what Alpha Red is (I'm assuming it's an NJO thing)

It was a virus concocted by the NR that would have wiped out the Yuuzhan Vong - my feeling is that it could be used (since, IIRC, Ackbar was aware of it) to allow Textile to quickly dispatch with Krayt and then go it alone with Bane.

hmmm ... if it's something that Ackbar would normally have access to, I'd have no problem with him providing it for the match for the Exile. But that's a pretty large if, that someone more familiar with NJO would have to answer for me.

I don't think it was finished by the time Ackbar had died. Wasn't DW the first novel it was mentioned they were working on it?
Might be wrong though.

Well, I believe it was in DW and TUF, and Ackbar was in DW, so he might be able to get his fins on a developmental copy of it.

Nichtganz is back!
Oh, and as far as Alpha Red goes-- it was indeed first introduced in DW, but it was offered up by Dif Scaur (and confirmed by Omas) as an alternative to Ackbar's trap (lol) at Ebaq 9. In fact, Ackbar's plan was only put into effect after Vergere sabotaged the weapon.
So for him to have access to it, it'd have to be after that point-- when he's no longer in the military and on the verge of dying, as the project doesn't produce the weapon again until TUF. Considering that, and the fact that Scaur (the head of NRI and the project) obvious dislikes him, and he'd have no authority to get it over that man's head...and, in fact, even if he did, he'd probably either destroy it himself or give it to someone like Sovv or Skywalker and the gang to eventually destroy...it's incredibly unlikely that he has his hands on it.
This, of course, assuming Admiral Ackbar would resort to advising the use of a genocidal bioweapon in the first place.
Also, can Kenobi come back for teams as a Force ghost? That'd be funny. Plus, he'll be more powerful than you can possibly imagine. From a certain point of view.

Sidious wins his match. Obi is no match for the Emperor.
The other match is far more intriguing. I'm going to go with Ackbar not being able to use Alpha Red. But that's far from the most pressing issue in this match. Bane pretty much hates Krayt. Hates what he's done to the Sith. I have serious doubts as to whether he'd even work alongside him.
That said, if Bane can put aside his hatred for Krayt for the match, Krayt is more than willing to work alongside and worship Bane. And, they combine for a sizable power and skill advantage.
I'm going to guess that Bane is willing to play Krayt as a pawn long enough to defeat Exile, and then kill Krayt afterward. But I wouldn't be shocked to see the other judges go the other way on that one.

Yeah, I'll have to agree with that. Access to Alpha red would have given Textile the chance to go 1on1 with Bane prepped, which would have been a 50/50 fight IMO. Without it, Bane and Krayt have the advantage, depsite their cohesion issues.

Emperor's New Groove (4) vs. Team Rufio (4)
Yoda and His Merry Men (2) vs. Ko He shin (6)
P3?
Lumiya (forfeit) vs. Soontir Fel
Jaina Solo vs. Gavin Darklighter (forfeit)
Well, that wasn't very interesting ...
Emperor's New Groove (4) vs. Team Rufio (5)
Yoda and His Merry Men (3) vs. Ko He shin (6)
F1?
Darth Caedus vs. Ulic Qel-Droma (forfeit)
Revan vs. Darth Krayt (forfeit)
Again, not very interesting ...
Emperor's New Groove (5) vs. Team Rufio (5)
Yoda and His Merry Men (4) vs. Ko He shin (6)
And so a team battle it is ...
Emperor's New Groove vs. Team Rufio
Outside the Star Destroyer:
Jagged Fel, Turr Phennir, Maarek Stele, and Lumiya vs. Soontir Fel and Han Solo
Inside the Star Destroyer:
Darth Sidious, Darth Caedus, Kir Kanos and Jango Fett vs. Luke Skywalker, Kyp Durron, Ulic Qel-Droma, and Boba Fett
And the strategists (need to be captured/killed to win):
Grand Admiral Thrawn and Wilhuff Tarkin vs. Mara Jade Skywalker and Leia Organa-Solo
Let's hear some arguments, maybe?
