Definitely agreed. They look more sword like and less like flashes of light as in AOTC and ROTS. I've always thought that the lightsabers in AOTC and ROTS were flashy and "dragged" the light with them as they went.
I will third that.
In the duel between Maul, Obi-wan and Qui-gon the sabers look awesome.

The Prequels would be bumbling fools to mess up the sabers in them. They can create an entire cg character but cant make a glowing stick? lol
The originals are more deserving of this question. ESB had the best looking sabers. ANH for obvious reasons didnt, and ROTJ had some odd mild glowing issues.

i'd have to agree with the notion that Empire had the best blades.
i too was a little put off by the pointy tips in reveng of the sith.

I like the lightsabers in Attack of the Clones and in Revenge of the Sith the most out of the whole saga. They look very vibrant and look like actual light blades. In the OT, they look like plastic light tubes, almost like FX Sabers.
Why isn't this in the Saga forum? Oh well, I guess it fits here too.

Revenge of the Sith and JEdi i think those looked the best The green of luke's really stood out and rots the saber windmells and obi wan spinning his was cool

You know ... I've never watched the films looking for differences in the blades of the lightsabers. Never.

The original version of Empire Strikes Back.
As was mentioned by someone else, there really is this unstable glowing and pulsing that really comes out very nicely in this film. ANH is too crude, and in ROTJ they look a little wobbly, but in ESB they look like a dangerous weapon.
The PT sabers are way too slick. They really do look like "laser swords", and not sabers of light.

ROTJ, the green and red clashing against a mostly black background is cool and brightens the blades. TESB does this for the most part as well.

RotS. The glossy, slick look of the PT sabers might not be consistent with the OT, but I just happen to like it better. Eye candy. I dig the pointy tips as well because they look more like actual swords.
Although I do like the buff, dangerous, and shimmery look they have in ESB as well. With a little imagination I just pretend it's because of the age of the weapons

To be fair, there is no "right or wrong" way of portraying the lightsabers considering they were pretty inconsistent in the OT. Not to mention, most fanfilms go with the PT style, so I wouldn't call them bumbling fools, either.
