What was the first Star Wars film you have watched and what are your memories of it?
Do you remember a little or do you remember a lot?

I think the first Star Wars movie I have watched was The Empire strikes back the special edition. I was very young, I was in second grade. For some reason I can't seem to remember alot. sad

I remember when I went to the theater and I think I remeber when they had a Star Wars trailer before empire strikes back started or something like that but I can't remember much.

I seem to remember more when I got the VHS when I was in third grade.

I think it was the original version of Star Wars(A New Hope) on home video. My first memory though is from Return of the Jedi. It's when Luke catches the saber Artoo shot to him just before the Sail Barge battle.

I was introduced to star wars in an odd way:

First movie: Empire Strikes Back...I was watching it with some neighbor kid who was absolutely convinced the AT-AT's were mechanical Llamas. I kid you not.

Then I saw the first Ewok spinoff. Loved it.

Then a couple years later I had a toy Lando in my toybox. I think I dropped a brick on him one too many times and his head snapped off.

At this point I was unaware that these movies/toy were related.

Saw ANH at my friend Max's house another few years later. This must have been 1995-96. I remember it because he had a commentary going on and whenever a tie fighter blew up he'd go "OOOH THAT'S GOTTA HUUURRRTTTT!!!"

Early 1997. Moved to another town. At some afterschool hang out, and they put on the star wars trilogy. Loved it. Found out all my friends owned copies and would watch Star Wars movies whenever I came over. Got into the action figures around this time: First figures -- Han in Carbonite, Shadows of the Empire Swoop Rider.

Summer 1997. Yep. The Special Editions hit the screens. It wasn't until all my neighbors were going to see the movies that I realized the magnitude of the saga. Saw RotJ on the big screen.

Summer 1999: The Prequels

The rest is history.

I saw ANH in the local theater when it first came out, I remember the line was so long it was the length of the building then went along the side of the dirt parking lot alongside a swamp (theater has closed long ago ). I rememder waiting what seemed like forever for the first showing to let out. I still have never seen a line that long for a movie to this day. Those are my first memories of Star Wars although they are not of the actual movie but I can see it clear as day.

I know I saw the trilogy when I was real young but I didn't understand or remember anything. Then when I was 7 or 8, I saw TPM in the theatres. I was a big chicken then and remember sitting in the parkling lot telling my mom I didn't want to see it. She threatened to ground me so I watched it and loved it. My mom's threats got me into Star Wars. tongue

ANH was my first star wars movie, and I remember being frightened by Darth Vader. I also remember that I wanted a lightsaber and a speeder just like the one Luke rides around in on Tatooine.

ANH when I was about 5 or 6. At least that's what I always though as my earliest SW memory. But a couple of months ago, I was looking at some old photos and found one with me at the age of 3 looking at TV, and on the TV screen - Luke Skywalker on Dagobah. grin

Star Wars no Episode IV A New Hope subtitle on the big screen.

I was there from day one.

It was Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. I was babysitting my neighboors kids who were and still are in love with Star Wars. I was 10. They started my addiction. It continues to this day. 10 years later...

A New Hope was being shown on TV, back around '99 if I remember correctly. I remember cheering for the stormtroopers.

My first Star Wars movie was Episode 4, on an old VHS. I was 9 or 10, so I don't really remember what it was that I thought, but I remember that I somehow weaseled my father to tell me what happened in later movies, and that I was so confused that it was Episode 4 and not 1. I think that I really liked the Emperor (I can't remember if he was in ANH much. I haven't seen it in almost 2 years (shame on me) so it might be a memory from the other movies. happy ), and I remember that I really liked Luke and thought that the lightsaber battles were the coolest thing I had ever seen. Until I saw Episodes 1-3. grin

I was 4 years old back in 1980. My mother took me to the theater for ESB. I still remember how I felt at the end of the movie, and the sadness of the music. I remember that the movie ending with the Falcon flying away without any resolved situation made me unhappy. Of course, at 4, you can't understand what is a sequel, especially at a time when you didn't have to put the next DVD in the machine to know what happens next. The waiting for 1983 was long.

My son will turn 4 in 2008, and I have nothing that great to introduce him to (in the theater that is) the way my mom did it with me sad

I was 10. My brother was 8 and he had a sci-fi freak for a friend. They were watching ESB. I came in right at the part where Vader was going "Luke, I am your father!" so basically I had the whole series spoilt for me in the first ten seconds of my exposure to it.
