personally i think Qui-Gon is the best
if he hadn't died it would be Palps and Qui-Gon instead of windu

You can't say who was the best jedi, because you have hundreds and thousands who served, each with their own strength and weaknesses.

I think there were many good Jedi.
So I think it's hard to pick only one.
I think the best jedi are:
Obi-wan Kenobi
Qui-gon Jinn
Yoda
Luke Skywalker
Mace Windu
Anakin Skywalker (At the end of ROTJ for killing Palpatine.)
My list is not in order.

I think they all have their strengths and weaknesses but my pick would have to be Yoda. To lead the order for such a long time and not be affected (visibly at least) by the wear and stress the job must have inflicted is pretty amazing. My second choice would be Qui-Gon. He did what he felt was right even when those he admired and respected felt that it wasn't right.

I thought about going with Kenobi but while he's a good warrior it took the falling of Anakin for him to really turn the corner and understand what needed to be done. I think he was too stringent with teaching Anakin by the book, and I think Jinn would have done a better job.
I guess as the evolution of a single character I can see someone picking Kenobi, but I also think Yoda evolved in much the same way except on a more galactic level, if you will.

True, but with Luke you have a Jedi who has at most a few months of training and yet manages to defeat the Chosen One, redeem the Chosen One, and resist the Dark Side.

He resisted it at the time in ROTJ and later fell to it in DE. Luke is definitely up there as one of the greatest of all time, but his redemption needed just as much help from Leia as Vader did from Luke. Every Jedi has their faults and I think that Luke lucked out that Leia was around to turn him back early instead of late because there's no reason to believe he wasn't going to do things just as evil as Vader did.
It was all about the timing of their redemptions that made a difference. That's why I'm not picking either Anakin or Luke because they fell to the dark side.

Interestingly enough - we tend to go with the "who is the best Jedi" = "who is the strongest Jedi" 
I for one think Yoda is the best Jedi. A Jedi is about moral principles, the force and separating good from evil - it's not about who is the best person. Second place, and close runnder up, is OBW for exactly the same reasons as Yoda. Yoda just had a few more years to develop himself 
Luke is surely up there, but as I just go for the movies, we just haven't seen enough...

I'm not trying to be selfish, but what about the other 999,999,999 Jedi ( ROTS Novel indicates that the archives was said to hold the private journals of over a billion knights) who served in the order since it's founding?

Who (Lucaside) knows about his redemption, but Yoda apparently did too, according to Dark Rendezvous.
And that rhymed. I think that makes me the best Jedi? Or not.
