Rebelscum are reporting about a Star Wars Theme Park being built in Dubai.

Euroscum reader Mattia from Italy sent us news of the first Star Wars theme park to be built in the Gulf Emirate of Dubai. Here's Mattia's account:
Dear Rebelscum,
My name is M. Mattia I’m from Italy.
I have a news that may interest you to know. I work in the Theme Park industry and I’m currently in Dubai where I just had a meeting in DUBAI LAND.
DUBAI LAND is a 107 square kilometer project that involve the construction of:
UNIVERSAL STUDIOS and other park which also for the first time in the world an entire STAR WARS PARK.
I don't know how true this is, but you can check out the whole story here. Personally I'd like to see it verified from other sources (like TOS).

I wouldn't be surprised...Those people in Dubai are doing some pretty amazing work over there.
But if this is true...it will make me want to visit Dubai even more than I already do!

That's sweet! I would love to see it if/when it gets built, but getting to Dubai might be tough. Reminds me of the Harry Potter theme park they're building at Universal Studios.

Hmm.... I feel like we would have heard something from LucasFilm about that.
It would, however, fit into an overall trend. Warner Bros. is building their first theme park in Abu Dhabi which is also in the UAE.

Still no confirmation on this. However Rebelscum have updated the news item with a link to the Dubailand website. Note for dialup - it takes a couple of minutes to load the animation at the top. However there's nothing SW-related in it yet.

Though I'm sure they're going to new Lucas's goahead before they start anything, I really don't see a chance of him turning them down.
More money, more fame.Lucas really seems to enjoy his Empire growing and growing.
If it's true though, I'll definatley be making a trip there in the comming years.

I have mixed emotions about this. SW theme park? Cool. But this entire development of Dubai is being built on some horrid human worker abuses.
