OOC: Since we're not in challenge mode, I'm just going to write all three as one. When challenges come and we need x posts, I'll separate these guys.

IC: Tholme, Quinlan Vos. Guest starring Logray

"The medic is over there Quinlan" Tholme said, pointing to Logray. The two jedi moved out of the cockpit toward the medicine man who was preparing to leave the juggernaut. Tholme approached him.

"Hello again my friend. I have someone for you to look at"

Quinlan bent down to eye level so the ewok could examine him.

Logray looked at the two men and opened his pouch, showing he was out of herbs.

"It appears we'll need to restock your supplies while we are here" Tholme said upon seeing the empty medicine pouch. "Quinlan, follow me and we'll take you to one of the Medical droids."

Tholme waited as several of the other passengers descended the Juggernaut and then followed them out. The Juggernaut was parked only a few feet from the entrance of the Medical Center. Tholme and Quinlan entered the room and saw the droids already attending to the others wounded from the groups encounter with the Nebulans. Quinlan was about to turn back when Tholme grasped him by the shoulders and steered him to an available medical droid.

"He has burns that need attending to" Tholme said. He turned to leave Quinlan in the medical droid's care but before going said "When you are done here. I could use your help in reading a few things. We have a murderer in our own ranks"

Quinlan simply nodded. "I'll do what I can"

Tholme smiled and headed back out the door looking for Ben and Yoda.

He couldn't say it on the juggernaut with Dooku and others around, but he found Quinlan's sudden arrival to be a bit odd. Almost out of the ordinary in fact. Could it be another of Piett's tricks? Tholme would continue to keep a close eye on his apprentice. The behavior Quinlan exhibited earlier was very disturbing. Either Quinlan was an imposter or he was perilously close to the dark side. Either way, they would have to keep an eye on him. Tholme headed off to find Ben and share his concerns.

OOC: Sorry for the long wait. Let's get this going again!

IC Yoda:

Yoda had watched the events within the juggernaut with great interest, but had not interfered, trusting that Masters Tholme and Kenobi would be able to handle the coming of Master Vos, and the near violence he had wrought. He was proud of how the other two Jedi were able to defuse that potentially deadly situation. However, at that moment, Yoda had been more interested in Dooku's state of mind. He might think he could hide his feelings from the others, but not from his one-time master. Yoda did not wish the former Jedi to do anything rash and undo the good that he was trying to accomplish.

So it was that when the vehicle stopped outside the med center, Yoda allowed the other Jedi to go ahead until he was left alone with Dooku. "Walk with me you will, Count?" He used the man's title instead of his last name to show him the respect that he deserved and had earned.

As they began walking toward the med center, Yoda said, "Start with clean slate all of us on this ship do." He grunted as he shuffled forward. "Regrets all of us in life have. Thoughts of changing the future myself I had. Keep Jedi Skywalker from turning I must. Stop Sidious from taking control of Republic I must. Realized my folly I did, when the future beyond my death I learned." Talking of his upcoming death in the original timeline was no more bothersome than speaking of the weather would be. After all, what did physicality matter when compared to the Force?

"Much good the Son and Daughter of Skywalker accomplished. Much good their descendants will accomplish. Much good from evil beginnings arose. Yet all possible knowledge to ensure good outcome from meddling I had? Prideful I was. Arrogant I was. Control all variables in life one cannot. Fallible beings we are, and fallible beings such as we conrol over such things cannot have. Must not have. Jedi answers do not have. Sith answers do not have.

"Certain that sending proposed message will lead to effect wished for you are, hmmm? If focus on helping us get all people out of present situation you do, much more good will you accomplish."

IC: Ben Kenobi

As Ben got near the exit of the juggernaut, he saw the Imperial woman ahead of him, and as she opened up the hatch, she spoke "After you Master Jedi Obi-won"

Raising an eyebrow, Ben couldnt help a smile "Thank you, my lady", he replied, and stepped outside. "Well here we are, back to where we started", he muttered to himself. He was glad to be outside that forsaken vehicle, he was starting to feel claustrophobic in there. He wasnt really hurt or in need of medical care, so as everyone started walking towards the medical bay, Ben focused on helping out those who needed help.

As he was walking back towards the medical bay, Ben saw Tholme coming out. By his Force signature and facial expression, it seemed Tholme was very concerned about something "He must be worried for Quinlan", he thought to himself, and proceeded to walk towards the jedi.

"Are you all right my friend? you seem troubled", Ben asked.

"Are you all right my friend? you seem troubled"

Tholme leaned in close to Ben so that his voice was barely a whisper.

"Don't you find it odd that Quinlan just suddenly appeared on the Juggernaut?"

He paused to look around, making sure no one else was listening and then continued

"And the way he was behaving seemed a bit off. Just like the other two. We need to watch and make sure this isn't another trick of Piett's"

As Ben waited for a reply, Tholme walked closer to him, and spoke in a lowered voice "Don't you find it odd that Quinlan just suddenly appeared on the Juggernaut?"

Taking a deep breath, Ben spoke quietly "I didnt want to say anything, but yes, i found it very odd", he replied.

"And the way he was behaving seemed a bit off. Just like the other two. We need to watch and make sure this isn't another trick of Piett's"

"Now that concerns me... i figured you as his Master would have a bit more insight into Quinlan, and maybe figure out if anything seems out of place, because he didnt seem to be the man i remember", Ben replied, "But let's try not to get ahead of ourselves here, i'm sure we all seemed disoriented when we first woke up in this strange place, and keep in mind he just landed here from Order 66, that was traumatic enough to live thru and he ran into Dooku. Let's keep an eye on him... discreetly".

Looking around, Ben asked "Where is he now?"

IC: Obi-Wan

Bria was confounded and confused. That much Obi-Wan could clearly sense. The tumult of thoughts he picked up from her was not, however, entirely intelligible. It was clear she was somewhat exasperated with his inability to understand that tumult. It was the damndest thing, though, since Obi-Wan thought there was no way he could be misunderstanding her as he had such an open channel into her thoughts. But maybe he was wrong about that. Apparently he was, as Bria clearly felt he was not understanding her. While he awaited an explanation of what she really did feel, none came. It left Obi-Wan feeling more confused than ever. Clearly, he was not terribly gifted at understanding the deep emotional needs and states of his fellow beings.

In fact, Obi-Wan was fairly certain he was one of the worst possible Jedi she could have inadvertently formed an attachment to. Had she needed a skilled defender, commander, or negotiator, Obi-Wan would have been of great help. Emotional turmoil, however, was clearly not really his strong suit.

And she knew it. Even had he not been able to essentially read her mind, Obi-Wan would have picked up that unmistakeable feeling from her glassy gaze – pity. Through all the barrage of emotions coming from her at the moment, this was the most strong and clear. Pity that he was evidently so mal-adjusted to life in general. Which he didn’t think he was. Obi-Wan’s first reaction was the be offended by the suggestion. There was no contempt in her thoughts, only a deep pity that seemed to send her heart to the verge of tears for him, which only made it sting worse, like a slap in the face on a blisteringly cold day.

And yet… what if she was right? In light of everything he knew about the future and all the baffling misinterpretations he’d already apparently made with Bria, was it all that hard to believe? A sinking feeling overcame Obi-Wan as he got the sense that perhaps she was right. In which case, he did not understand why in the galaxy she would trust her emotional well-being largely to a man with an emotional capacity she thought to be on par with a child. Perhaps she shouldn’t have done. Even another Jedi, such as Yoda, was bound to be much wiser and perceptive.

Obi-Wan recalled what Yoda had told him about the future, how he would largely stay out of Luke’s training, how Yoda would do the real training. The Jedi Master hadn’t told Obi-Wan that as a stab at him, only a mere statement of the truth. Obi-Wan had been trusted with a delicate young person’s emotional well-being before, and look how that had turned out. As he thought of Anakin, something of Bria’s thoughts came to him more clearly… that he was being selfish. It confused Obi-Wan, but considering how he was now reflecting on his own failures rather than trying to think about her. That had to be what she meant, and Obi-Wan immediately felt bad for sitting here dwelling on himself when he should have been focusing fully on her needs.

He was just about to jump right into the meditation in order to do just that when he “heard” something else from her. That he could not hide his remorse over Anakin from her was bad enough. But that her response to it fed back to him was almost worse. There was more pity, to be sure, which was bad enough. But the thing that really stopped him in his tracks was a particular phrasing in her mind, one which she certainly would not have let him overhear had it been possible- “spectacular failure”.

His face dropped. He felt numb for a moment, then a warmth completely unlike the comforting nearness of her presence started to flood him, and Obi-Wan became acutely aware of an overwhelming sense of shame. Pitiful, selfish, and a failure. That was what she thought of him. And though he knew it should not matter what anyone thought, her opinion did matter to him. But the real reason he was ashamed was because he knew it was true. That was precisely how he was beginning to see himself in light of everything he’d learned in the past several days. And it was the same opinion that he’d read and heard in Anakin on their last painful parting. If Obi-Wan’s status as the worst Jedi in the history of the order were not cemented enough as it was, now he was sure of it. He was sure he would have become the scorn of the Order, if only there were anyone around in the Order to think so…

Oh, come off it, his caustic inner voice reprimanded. This is precisely the kind of pitiful, selfish dwelling that’s the problem in the first place. A lot of good you are in this state. Roundly self-chastised, Obi-Wan looked away from Bria for a moment and quickly shuttered up his emotional turmoil. As quickly as he could, he turned to the promised meditation. She needed it. And he’d be damned if he didn’t at least try to be of some actual use to someone instead of simply continuing the way he had been. Force, she was right to think him so pathetic. Why should he be upset that she thought those things about them when he was only confirming that they were true?

So Obi-Wan did what he was great at and swallowed his pain, shoving it down forcefully in order to get on with his duty. The meditation. The Force. Those were ways he could help her. That was what she needed, a Jedi, not some driveling self-absorbed child. He wished the bond had never formed between them, but it had. Obi-Wan decided it was best to try to use that for her good as much as possible, no matter how unfortunate it was. When he turned to the Force, he did everything he could to focus it on her. At first, she seemed extremely distant.

Then she took his hand. And for all his focus on the Force, all the calm that it brought him (and hopefully would bring her), he could not help noticing her delicate warm hand in his and all the additional dilemmas it caused.

No. Stop thinking about yourself, he reminded himself again. Emptying himself, he let the Force flow through him freely. And for once, began to feel its assuaging, comforting calm. As Bria clasped his hand more tightly, Obi-Wan poured everything he had into focusing the power of the Force flowing through him onto her. And slowly but surely, it seemed to be working. It was overwhelming, to be sure, and he was vaguely aware of Bria leaning into him as if seeking a shield against the overpowering strength of the Force. He understood how overwhelming it was. It had been a very difficult thing to face when he’d been young, and in a way the awe the Force inspired never left no matter how many times he encountered it. And Obi-Wan was grateful for that. Because the Force was endless. The Force was everything. And Bria was getting a glimpse of it, and he could already tell, as detached from the moment as he was, that it was working.

And then Obi-Wan felt an unmistakeable sensation. His mind’s eye darkened, something tugged at him, and a tingling in his mind all prepared him for what he knew would be a Force vision. Bria must have felt it, too, though she surely didn’t know what it was, because she squeezed his hand tight. Then it came. Darkness. Single lights. Double lights. Couples, Jedi, family, darkness, light. The double lights growing, the single lights fading away. Before Obi-Wan knew it, the vision had gone and he was gently pulling them out of the meditation.

When he opened his eyes, he saw Bria’s face just inches from his, her eyes still closed. Obi-Wan glanced down at her warm hand in his, then back at her face. Feeling a bit uncomfortable about the proximity, he leaned back a bit so that when she did open her eyes, there was a reasonable distance between them. The look in her eyes and the flood of emotions emanating form her being was unmistakable, even to him. The gratitude, the peace he was overjoyed by. The other thing there, the thing that had made him hesitant to touch her, and the thing that had probably prompted her to take his hand anyway, he was still not comfortable naming, though deep down he knew there was no denying her feeling.

As he saw a small smile, a genuine smile, creep over her face, he had an unbidden urge to lean in and kiss her. Fortunately he also had the presence of mind to stop himself. Whether or not she had enjoyed the first kiss, Obi-Wan was now certain it had been a terrible time to throw caution to the wind and risk her being uncomfortable. He had been out of his mind, quite frankly, to initiate that kiss, and he silently vowed not to do so again.

The look on her face belied not only her emotions, but also her spiritual state. Indeed, the meditation had helped. The Force had smoothed over some things, although of course he knew this was not a one-stop fix for problems. The Jedi believed their interaction with the Force was like a long-term relationship, but how to convey that to Bria? It was ironic, really. While he struggled with their human relationship she was reluctant about a spiritual one. But she could not deny the power of the Force now, could she?

It did not seem she wanted to. She said nothing about it, but seemed to accept what the Force had done for her on two occasions, now. It almost gave Obi-Wan something to smile about himself. There was no better feeling that knowing the Force was at work to heal something no person could. Still, it was not as though their persons were disconnected from it. Far from it, as Obi-Wan began to realize the bond between them seemed even deeper than before.

The extra amount of inadvertent intrusion might have seemed a pleasant development to Bria. From the way she was looking at him right now, Obi-Wan could only presume she was quite happy about getting mentally and emotionally closer to him. Obi-Wan wished he could hide how skittish that made him, or completely assuage his worries and doubts about it, about himself, about her connection to him, but he could not. Focusing on her improved state, though, got his mind off of his worries. And he was stolidly resolved to keeping that focus on her, as it was what she needed, rather than him wallowing.

Finally, she spoke in that sweet, soft voice of hers. ”Thank you”, she said, with all the depth and sincerity one could have mustered.

Obi-Wan nodded. “No thanks are necessary, my lady. It’s my job.” As soon as those words were out, he wished he could stuff them back in again. After all their connection, the meditation they’d just been through, and that vision… well, he must have seemed incredibly insensitive and stoic. He gave her a look that he hoped said, That’s not how I meant it. Their eyes remained locked and he could somehow sense the ghosts of their vision swirling around them. The Jedi, joined together with others in love, fighting off the darkness. That was the future. Obi-Wan knew it, the Force had confirmed it. But it was Luke’s future. It was Leia’s future. That much Obi-Wan believed to be true, that his Order had gotten things wrong. That there was a different way forward. But how to explain to Bria that while he did see himself in that vision, it was probably not where she saw him. Deep down, Obi-Wan knew he was not part of that future. He was the old, the solitary, the lone light fading off into the darkness. And he did not believe anything here could change that. Perhaps it could help give him perspective. But the facts had been laid out for him. And his destiny was not to live happily ever after.

Obi-Wan could almost here Qui-Gon whispering to stay in the moment, and the point was well taken. Right now, Bria was here. She was healing, but the things he had felt her facing in their meditation were not ever going away. Obi-Wan knew all too well that, while one might come to peace with the past, the memories never fully went away. The pains of the past were like the pains of a phantom limb, and while he was glad Bria had faced her demons, Obi-Wan was also aware that one often needed a kind of debriefing after a meditation, time to talk through what one had seen and experienced. Especially if one was not normally in contact with the Force.

What particularly stood out, what pained her so much it pained him, were the memories of her mother. Obi-Wan felt his heart crushed at seeing not only how her mother had treated her, but also the effects it had had on Bria. It saddened him for her, but there was some deeper meaning in the situation that tugged at him sub-consciously. Without even knowing why he was speaking, Obi-Wan began, “Bria, I’m so sorry… about your mother. I know it doesn’t seem like it, and I know perhaps you do not want to hear this, but in order to heal you must let go of your anger towards her.” Obi-Wan spoke carefully, aware of not wanting to push Bria back into the dark place she’d just come out of. But for some reason he felt a pressure from inside to go on, from the Force perhaps.

“Though it does not seem like it,” he began, “your mother almost certainly loved you.” Obi-Wan could feel Bria balk at that idea, so he held up a hand to keep her from speaking. “Please, let me finish… your mother wanted what she thought was best for you, and tried to mold you into that thing. Obviously, it’s easy for you to see it was a terrible idea. And there’s no denying she did some horrible things that are not at all acceptable, and I’m so sorry you had to suffer through that. Still, from her perspective, as twisted as it might seem, she thought it was best. All that pressure, all that stress, all that harshness… ultimately she thought it would be good for you. Your mother wanted what was best for you. The problem is she did not know what truly was best for you.”

Bria was beginning to stare at him in a peculiar fashion, and Obi-Wan was starting to wonder why he kept going. It felt like he was putting his foot in his mouth, yet at the same time he had the odd feeling of being completely out of control of what he was saying. So, unable to stop himself, he just kept going. “It makes sense why you were driven to the Exultation. That need to have people treat you as though they really cared about you in a way your mother never showed is understandable. You shouldn’t berate yourself for that. It is not your fault you naturally desired a kind of love and care your mother could never give you. But believe me, your mother loved you. If you are ever going to heal, you need to understand this. You need to realize she loved you, not for her sake, but for yours. To know it is not your fault, but her own failure to know how to love her daughter well. Though no one, myself least of all, would ever fault you for not being able to forgive her.”

A heavy silence set in. And Obi-Wan found himself out of breath, not realizing how fervently he’d been speaking, practically pleading, with Bria. It took a moment for it to click, a moment for realization to dawn on him. It took the look of realization in Bria’s eyes and the surge of some indefinable emotion from her through their bond for Obi-Wan to realize he had not been talking about Bria and her mother at all.

There was a seemingly endless pause in the moment they both realized what had really motivated that little speech. Obi-Wan turned his head away suddenly and closed his eyes, letting out a shuttering breath. There you are making this about you again, the caustic voice reminded him. He quickly pulled himself together and gave Bria an apologetic glance but said nothing. Obi-Wan needed to keep this on her, for reasons he had convinced himself were entirely unrelated to himself and only to his duty to help Bria. Part of his mind realized it was a convenient excuse, but he shushed that part quickly.

One thing he was sure of- they had spent enough time on this couch. It was beginning to feel a bit too much like a session with the Jedi mind healers, and there was almost nothing he dreaded more than that. “Well,” he said, forcing his tone to be more light. “I think we could agree that all of this has been enlightening.” He almost reached up and brushed a stray hair back behind her ear, but his newfound alertness and commitment to behaving like a proper Jedi stopped him. Obi-Wan was resolved upon not doing anything he thought might harm her in the least, and furthermore spending as much energy as he could to help her. “But the others are probably rested up and unfortunately I doubt Piett will let us all alone very long. We should probably find the others and get moving.”

After holding her gaze a moment longer, Obi-Wan stepped off the couch. He was surprised to find his legs a bit wobbly beneath him, not from drunkenness any more but rather from sitting for so long. He shook them out, smoothed his tunic out a bit, and resumed a Jedi-like straight-backed stance. Remembering Bria’s injured leg for, embarrassingly, the first time in their whole long exchange, Obi-Wan offered, “Here, let me help you up.” He gave her both his hands and pulled her gently to her feet.

"He's in the Med Bay." Tholme thought for a moment, then said "It's highly likely that is Quinlan just after Order 66. I didn't see him until a few months later. And his temper has flared like that in the past when he lost his memory. But my greater fear is that he is too close to the dark side. What he said to Dooku concerns me greatly"

Taking in Tholme's words, Ben finally replied "Ok so the temper might have an explanation, if he has a history for it... he has after all landed himself in a situation that has affected all of us at some point, magnifying our emotional weaknesses... perhaps Quinlan's is his darker tendencies, and considering his past history with Dooku, i would say he's releasing his impotence regarding this place and the bizarre situation that way, and with a person that hurt him deeply".

Taking a deep breath, Ben continued "I do think however that we should keep our eye on him, but for now i dont think he would really do anything rash... i'll admit, there's times in wich i've wanted to make someone pay for our situation, but the Force and our jedi teachings have kept me at bay... i have to believe that if this is indeed the real Quinlan, he would be as strong as i remember and succeed over temptation".

Trying to give Tholme a reassuring smile, Ben finished "We'll look out for him Tholme, you wont have to do this alone".
