OCC: solojones i'm REALLY sorry, i totally missed ur Obi-Wan post this morning, i only saw the Obi one i guess i shouldnt post early in the morning ... i'll re-edit my above Siri post to fit in what you wrote, so ignore the post from earlier today
IC: Siri Tachi
Hoping to evade both Kenobi, Siri took a few long strides towards... anywhere. She just needed to get away and get herself together. Siri hadnt felt this stupid and out of control before, and she just didnt know how to regain her composure back.
She thought of going back to the room from before, but having a dead body for company wasnt exactly what she needed right now. She stopped and hesitated, long enough to hear someone call out to her. Realizing not only that it was Obi-Wan, but that her eyes were filled with tears once again, she tried to frantically find a place to hide. "Siri!", she heard again, the voice now closer.
Unable to turn around, she tried to get inside a room but realized it was too late for an escape. Obi-Wan was already blocking her way. Siri gulped as her gaze met his. She quickly tried to wipe the tears from her eyes. There was no way she wanted him to see her cry. She always hated crying, and it was bad enough she had to put up with it herself. Having others see her cry was even worse, specially if that other person was Kenobi. He looked exhausted, and he had to hold on to the frame to avoiid collapsing, but she could see he wasnt going to leave until she spoke with him. "I'm sorry," , he said, "I understand why you're mad at me. Or furious at me," he corrected, "But please...Please, I know you are mad at me and you have every right to be. But please talk to me." He paused briefly, and looked into her eyes, "I have some things I need to tell you. Some things I need to explain and apologize for."
Shaking her head, she closed her eyes, "No Obi, i'm the one who doesnt belong here, i'm the one that cant control her temper..." Letting out a deep sigh and looking at the ground, she continued, "I just dont know how to deal with what i've found when i woke up here, and that's my problem not yours...". She tried to fight back the tears. Last thing she wanted was to break into a sob in front of him. "I'm sorry i opened my big mouth in front of the padawan... the last thing i want is to hurt him... or you", she whispered. Taking a deep breath, she blurted out what she was trying to say all along, "I dont blame you for moving on with your life... i cant, i have no right to... i died, and you moved on with your life, i cant hold that against you, but it's just so hard...", she paused, as if trying to find the courage to say what came next, "Years ago i gave you up to the Order, and i guess that was easier to handle than giving you up to another woman". Looking directly into his eyes, she continued, "I know you didnt mean harm by it, but you said it yourself when you first saw me here: my nature is quite clear: i know what i am and what i'm not... if... if you found something in her that is what you need, i'll be happy for you..."Letting out a sad laugh, she added, "I know i'm difficult, stubborn, i dont shut up and i dont do well with rules... it's not hard to find someone with better qualities".
Looking away from his gaze to keep from crying, she held her breath and waited for Obi-Wan's reply.

IC: Obi-Wan
Obi-Wan waited, looking at Siri intently. His eyes were the one part of him that was focused and did not look entirely on the point of collapse, although they were prominently streaked red. But no matter how physically awful he felt, he could not in good conscious go to sleep without trying to speak with Siri. Though he could sense her struggling, he did not sense her fighting the actual situation. Through the Force he felt her searching for the right words. Obi-Wan also sensed an unexpected amount of guilt that puzzled him. What did she have to be guilty about in this situation?
As Siri began to speak, Obi-Wan would have liked to stop her and tell her she was wrong to feel so down on herself. But he dared not interrupt and potentially close off whatever avenue might be opening for them to actually talk to one another. So he sat by and listened to her say, "No Obi, i'm the one who doesnt belong here, i'm the one that cant control her temper...I just dont know how to deal with what i've found when i woke up here, and that's my problem not yours...".
Obi-Wan was now unsure of whether it was such a good idea to hold back. Siri was fighting tears, which he politely did not acknowledge. It occurred to him that if he made too big of a deal out of her pain, she would grow embarrassed and retreat into herself, closed off as often she was. So he simply regarded her carefully, sympathetically, feeling pained by her misplaced pain and notions of fault. "I'm sorry i opened my big mouth in front of the padawan... the last thing i want is to hurt him... or you". Not wishing to break her progress, Obi-Wan simply furrowed his brow and shook his head, sending her reassurances through the Force that her actions had not been all that bad.
Siri was on the verge of saying something important, something she'd been holding back, he could tell. Obi-Wan was still as a statue as he awaited Siri releasing her breath and with it, her feelings. "I dont blame you for moving on with your life... i cant, i have no right to... i died, and you moved on with your life, i cant hold that against you, but it's just so hard...",
Here Obi-Wan could no longer stand to simply say nothing any longer. The trouble was, he himself was at a loss for putting his own feelings into words. So his protestation came out merely as, "Siri, it isn't like that..." he trailed off, sensing her about to say something else. And so she did.
"Years ago i gave you up to the Order, and i guess that was easier to handle than giving you up to another woman". She looked directly at him, and it was like a stab in the heart. Was that how this seemed to her? It pained him to think so. But he realised, too, that she could see it no other way. It was not how Obi-Wan felt about it, but it made perfect sense from Siri's point of view. How could he possibly explain otherwise? "I know you didnt mean harm by it, but you said it yourself when you first saw me here: my nature is quite clear: i know what i am and what i'm not" He winced, hearing his rash and idiotic words thrown back at him. She didn't mean to hurt him by it, he knew. It was his own fault for having said that in the first place about Siri lacking sympathy. It was untrue, but it had hit a tender spot. Siri struggled to finish, "... if... if you found something in her that is what you need, i'll be happy for you..."
She laughed with no mirth, only sadness, and it nearly shattered his heart to know he was the source of this deep pain she was barely keeping contained. "I know i'm difficult, stubborn, i dont shut up and i dont do well with rules... it's not hard to find someone with better qualities". She looked away, the glassiness in her eyes growing by the second. Siri awaited his reply without seeming like she was awaiting it. But Obi-Wan knew now (as he should have known before) that his very words would have power and he should chose them carefully. Not knowing exactly where to begin, his mind chose to start there.
"Siri, you know I did not mean any of that," he said woefully. "I was speaking out of frustration, confusion, and simply being a moronic ass." Obi-Wan rubbed the back of his sore neck with his also sore right hand. "You know that is not true. And I of all people should know it, too. I do know it. And I'm sorry my brashness has hurt you so much. For a supposedly good negotiator, I seem to have an awfully hard time holding my tongue." A tiny sheepish smile tugged at his lips, but quickly faded. He looked down at Siri, then closed his eyes, trying to find his center and his words. How could he make her see that her perceptions of the situation were all wrong? He prayed the Force would help him chose his words better this time.
Finally, Obi-Wan began in a low, melancholy voice. "It is a shame- and most certainly my fault- that this situation... with Bria, appears to you to be my moving on from the past. Nothing could be further from the truth, really." His eyes dipped before he forced himself to look Siri dead on, hoping she would look up back at him. Through the Force, he hoped to convey how important this point was, how deliberately he was choosing his words and thoughts this time. This was something he had been privately thinking through since Siri's appearance and was now ready to put into words.
Sighing, Obi-Wan said, "I understand how it might seem to you that my life has moved past you. That I have found some sort of improved version or someone who suits me better. But Siri, no one could possibly replace you, and certainly no one could exceed you..." His natural tongue-tied manner when this subject came up threatened to rear its head, but somehow, even with his raw nerves and spinning head, he managed to keep it at bay. A small miracle of the Force, no doubt. "The reality is that I've done just the opposite of moving on... After Bria and I were inadvertently connected, I was prepared for how much of her own past I might pick up on, but not for how my own memories might come into play. Namely my memories of you." His eyes drifted away for a moment as he recalled that vivid dream he'd had during his brief nap in the library, the one where Siri came to him for help and morphed into Bria, the flashing of images between the two of them in his mind.
"I'm sure this is a stupid thing to say," he muttered in prelude to confessing, "But in reality, I suppose I saw in Bria someone who needed my help save. And I confess, in some ways I suppose I saw an opportunity to try to remedy my past failures. To save you, namely." He swallowed, unable to keep down the vivid memory of Siri's death. "I had thought I had come to terms with your death. And perhaps I had. But I do not think I had come to terms with all the other things I lost when you died. Even the most remote possibilities of..." Obi-Wan had no idea how to speak about something that he was long, long ago supposed to have squelched and given up thoughts of. And yet, there was no hiding from Siri how he felt about her. He knew she had those same ghosts of wondering, the what-ifs. "But those were always impossible after all, weren't they?" he smiled at her sadly, wondering if she believed him or if he even believed himself.
Drawing a deep breath, Obi-Wan continued, "But I can see now that, though I thought I was perhaps breaking with the past and trying to grasp a new kind of future, in reality everything about my situation with Bria is about the past. I suppose I saw in someone who cared for me whom I could save a chance to revive the other people I could not save. Not only you, but Qui-Gon and now Anakin." Obi-Wan's eyes closed briefly, but he would not allow himself to dwell on the thoughts swirling in his mind for more than a long blink. "The point is," he said, trying to move along, "I have been using the past to try to recreate chances of a future that I was never going to have. That I really have no right to have. Knowing my future should have made this easier to avoid, but I was too stupid to see that. Instead I tried to run away from that future. I tired to hold onto the past. I was trying to hold onto you, even though you were not here."
By now his voice had trailed into a sad stillness. Obi-Wan's eyes dipped to the floor. "You needn't worry about having hurt me. All you did was react to my actions. As to the padawan, I believe he would find out soon enough from some source... but that's my mess to clean up, not yours." His eyes lifted back to her and his voice was purposeful and serious. "Bria is a lovely girl who needed my help. And instead I've used her to try to exorcise my own demons. And now that you are here, I can clearly see why it is that the elder Masters find my actions so abominable. They are abominable. They're inexcusable, really. But the worst thing is that no level of penitence over them will change the fact that I've hurt both you and Bria deeply. That I've been selfishly trying to conjure an impossible future. But I see the truth now. And I know that I still must hurt Bria more in order to end this selfish pursuit of mine... But I have no more illusions about what the future holds for me."
In his mind's eye, Obi-Wan saw a gust of dust-laden winds blowing across a lone battered clay hovel, the unrelenting howl of a storm weathered out by a battered old stalwart. A lone, stationary bulwark against the raging tide. And he accepted it silently. After a moment, he said simply, "I'm so sorry, Siri."

OOC: Whew, and now sorry but I have to wait until tomorrow to write Obi's response to Qui-Gon. Sorry about the length but Obi-Wan had some things he needed to set straight there

OOC: Oh, the angst! I love it.
Especially that last paragraph or so--that was gold.
Have Obi respond whenever, it's worth the wait.
Done gushing now. Everyone carry on tormenting imaginary people for my personal twisted enjoyment.

OOC: I know, the angst just makes me so nostalgic Glad you enjoyed it, too.
Perhaps to lighten the angst I can throw in a touch of jealousy for you all. This is my fav picture from my weekend:

OCC: this will be very long, and i blame sj for it
IC: Siri Tachi
Siri waited silently for Obi-Wan to speak. She felt mortified that she had said what she did, but now there was no way to take it back. And now she would have to hear what she didnt want all along, and face reality. She could sense Obi-Wan struggle to find his own words. He clearly was about to tell her something important. Siri braced herself as she heard him finally start to speak,"Siri, you know I did not mean any of that, I was speaking out of frustration, confusion, and simply being a moronic ass. You know that is not true. And I of all people should know it, too. I do know it. And I'm sorry my brashness has hurt you so much. For a supposedly good negotiator, I seem to have an awfully hard time holding my tongue." She let out a small chuckle, but she still found herself unable to look at him.
Letting out her breath slowly, she heard him continue, "It is a shame- and most certainly my fault- that this situation... with Bria, appears to you to be my moving on from the past. Nothing could be further from the truth, really." At this revelation Siri's head snapped up towards Obi-Wan, who was looking intently at her. She couldnt help the confusion that filled her as she read thru the Force that he was telling the truth. Siri noticed him let out a small sigh as he continued on, "I understand how it might seem to you that my life has moved past you. That I have found some sort of improved version or someone who suits me better. But Siri, no one could possibly replace you, and certainly no one could exceed you...". She felt herself blush. Her mind was racing trying to make sense of what he was saying. Truth be told, this wasnt what she was expecting he would say at all. "The reality is that I've done just the opposite of moving on... After Bria and I were inadvertently connected, I was prepared for how much of her own past I might pick up on, but not for how my own memories might come into play. Namely my memories of you." Siri couldnt even think anymore. She had been so wrong about the entire situation, she couldnt help the guilt she felt at this moment. In her usual manner, she had punished him before giving him a chance to explain.
But it seems he wasnt quite done yet,"I'm sure this is a stupid thing to say but in reality, I suppose I saw in Bria someone who needed my help save. And I confess, in some ways I suppose I saw an opportunity to try to remedy my past failures. To save you, namely." . Siri shook her head. She wanted to intervene and tell him her death wasnt his failure, but she found herself unable to say anything. "I had thought I had come to terms with your death. And perhaps I had. But I do not think I had come to terms with all the other things I lost when you died. Even the most remote possibilities of...", his voice trailed off, but she new what he was not saying. She could only gulp as she felt the tears want to come out once again. "But those were always impossible after all, weren't they?". The truth was, Siri wasnt sure, not anymore. Before her death that would have been easy to answer, but now...
But her thoughts were interrupted when he continued speaking, "But I can see now that, though I thought I was perhaps breaking with the past and trying to grasp a new kind of future, in reality everything about my situation with Bria is about the past. I suppose I saw in someone who cared for me whom I could save a chance to revive the other people I could not save. Not only you, but Qui-Gon and now Anakin. The point is, I have been using the past to try to recreate chances of a future that I was never going to have. That I really have no right to have. Knowing my future should have made this easier to avoid, but I was too stupid to see that. Instead I tried to run away from that future. I tired to hold onto the past. I was trying to hold onto you, even though you were not here.". Siri ran her hands thru her hair, in a vain attempt to find some composure.
But suddenly his eyes drifted to the floor, "You needn't worry about having hurt me. All you did was react to my actions. As to the padawan, I believe he would find out soon enough from some source... but that's my mess to clean up, not yours." His eyes lifted back to her and she was finding it difficult to catch her breath, "Bria is a lovely girl who needed my help. But I have no more illusions about what the future holds for me.". She felt him struggle, and it was only then she really felt the difficult situation he was in, not only because of her, but also for what his future held. "I'm so sorry, Siri," he added softly, and she felt her heart ache.
Siri realized he had said all he needed to say, and now she found herself at a loss for words. Siri Tachi for the first time, had no comeback. No witty or sarcastic remarks to throw back at him. Her throat felt dry, and she gulped a couple of times, trying to get it to work again. What could she possibly say to him after that, without going into her stupid usual self and ruin it?.
Slowly, she stepped closer to him, keeping her eyes steady on his. Not sure how he would react to what she was about to do, she shyly lifted her hand and ran it thru his hair. Slowly, she allowed her hand to drift down the side of his face, her gaze still locked on his. Taking a deep breath, she gently grabbed his face and pulled him closer, planting a soft kiss on his lips for what felt like forever, even thought it was only for a few seconds. Pulling away slowly and feeling herself blush, she finally found her voice, “You stupid stupid gundark... you finally managed to leave me speechless”, she whispered. After taking a deep breath, she continued, “I’m the one that’s sorry, I shouldn’t have made assumptions and just talked to you about this, but instead I just went for the worse scenario possible and did my best to punish you...”, her voice trailed off, unable to keep the embarassment from coming out of her. She looked down, and allowed her hand to grab his. She had said this next bit to the padawan Kenobi, but she realized that the one who needed to hear it was the man standing in front of her. Looking back up, she found his gaze and continued, “My death wasn’t your fault Kenobi, and you cant pretend you can save everyone, specially stubborn women who will do whatever they think it’s right, despite you”, she added lifting an eyebrow. Unable to keep the tears away this time, she looked down, embarassed, “I’m sorry my death caused you this much pain, I didn’t realize... how you felt, I guess I never did, not really”, she added sadly.
Determined to be as honest as she should, she continued, “I don’t know what’s possible or not with us... I guess in this place anything is, but no matter what hapens there’s something I need you to know...” She took a deep breath, and just went for it, “You´re a stubborn, pig-headed, impossible, annoying, prunish, exasperating, rule-following, sneaky, son of a Force-blind bantha, moronic ass... but I love you Obi-Wan Kenobi, more than you will ever know, and I always will even beyond my death and no matter what you do or how much I try to deny it”. She could tell he was surprised at her outburst, but she continued anyways, “I wont allow you to go thru everything alone, I don’t care what any Master here has to say about it, yourself included”, she added, pointing at him and then putting her hand on her hip in her typical don’t-argue-with-me demeanor, “I’m here for you, all you have to do is allow me to be. I don’t care what it is: if it’s to give you a good kick in the rear or just listen to your neverending lectures, I’ll do it. Please let me... please”, she pleaded, unable to keep the desperation from her voice.
Gulping, Siri hoped she hadnt pushed him too hard. She layed out her emotions on the table like she hadnt done before, and she felt a surge of panic hit her. Never in her life had she felt this vulnerable. Holding her breath, she waited for his response.

OCC: sorry for the double post, but i cant neglect Ben
IC: Ben Kenobi
Ben grew worried as Quinlan replied, "Indeed. I've never seen him like this". Motioning them closer, Vos continued, "When I healed him, there was something wrong with his brain. I can't explain it. All the other injuries healed but his brain. Something isn't right. Whatever happened in the labyrinth is responsible for this. We need to keep a close eye on him". That didnt sound good to Ben at all. Tholme had been a great ally this far, and to lose him now would be an obvious setback.
Looking from Quinlan to Batman, Ben figured he should try to clue them in on what happened at the labyrinth, "Well he ate some strange jewel that the Nebulans had on display for us and had implied would be our only way out of the labyrinth... Tholme took the chance, but truth is i have no idea what that thing was. We didnt have the Force to try and survey the situation, so he just acted". Letting out a frustrated sigh, he continued, "I agree we should keep a very close eye on him... i'm afraid right now that's all we can do, we need to press forward and find a way to destroy these Nebulans and just escape this place before we're all dead". "We're missing passengers", Batman chimed in. Focusing on the strange man, Ben replied resigned, "I dont doubt it my friend, and i'm afraid that wont stop until we find a way to stop the Nebulans... keep in mind that right now two people in there are the murderers", he added, pointing around.
The relief Ben had felt when they were finally out of the labyrinth was quickly disappearing. He had a feelings things were about to get worse.

OOC: Stop killing people! I can't keep track of all these deaths
IC: Tholme, Vos, Batman
Tholme felt it first. Then Quinlan felt it. A great evil had just died. At first, Vos thought it was the Nebulans. Then Tholme muttered "Palpatine"
That at least seemed to shake his former Master out of cleaning the Juggernaut for a moment. Quinlan walked over to Tholme and cried out as he stumbled ov | |
