Battleground of the Force: The Official NJT/AoD Competition Thread

Welcome to the first quarterly challenge between SWC's New Jedi Trials and Acolytes of Darkness. This is a friendly competition between the two groups, designed to help foster a healthy relationship of respect and competition between the two factions.
The faction that wins this challenge will win red-only host VIPship for their leader. For the New Jedi Trials, that is Grand Master Chukles38. For the Acolytes of Darkness, that is their Dark Lord, darth_nemisis.
This competition will consist of five contests. They will be explained below. The faction that wins three contests will win the competition. All five contests will be played regardless. If a faction wins all five, a bonus prize will be handed out.
All official work on all contests of this competition must take place in this thread.
These are the competitions we'll be playing this time:
1) An RPG Duel contest. Each faction will choose three members to represent the faction. These members will then be paired into one-on-one battles, matching ranks as often and closely as possible. Each pair will be given a location for their duel. Each person will then be given seven posts to wage their duel. After each person has made seven posts, the duel will be over. At that point in time, the judges will decide who has won the duel. In doing judging, the judges will consider: clarity of posts, ability to stay in character, ability to properly display your rank in your posts through your actions (i.e. does a Padawan act like a Padawan or like a master?), and overall effectiveness. All judging decisions are final, and complaints should be sent in PM to DarthIntegral.
The Judges for this will be: DarthIntegral, Imperial_Hammer, and Tyi-Maet_Nefer
2) A riddle hunt. A Star Ware-related phrase will be chosen. Each word will be entered into Google Image Search one-by-one. The first image will be rehosted. These images will then be shown as the entire phrase. Each faction will then work to solve the riddle. All guesses must be PMed to DarthIntegral. If a faction guesses incorrectly three times, they will be disqualified, and the other faction will be awarded victory. Incorrect guesses will not be posted in the thread.
There are no judges needed for this contest.
3) A Fan Fic Contest. A prompt will be given, and each faction will choose a single representative to write a short piece of fan fiction according to the prompt. A 36-hour window will exist from the posting of the prompt until the deadline to submit. The judges will judge based on adherence to the prompt, ability to keep characters true to form, originality, and clarity of entry.
No person may compete in both the Fan Fic contest and the RPG Duel contest.
Judges for this will be: NYCityGurl, The_Face and Miana Kenobi
4) Star Wars Snap! Each faction will participate in a game of Snap, with a Star Wars theme. Please visit the C&G Gaming Thread for general information about Snap! Each faction can have as many members play this as they want. The winning faction will be the one that is home to the winning player. If multiple players win, the faction with the most winners will be the winner. If this is a tie, a second round will be played only among the winners and special invited guests.
There are no judges needed for this contest.
5) Essay Contest. Each faction will choose one representative to write a persuasive essay about a Star Wars-related Prompt. a 36-hour window will be given from when the prompt is provided to the deadline for entries to be submitted. Judges will then judge based on clarity of essay, adherence to the prompt, persuasiveness of essay, and overall stylistic quality.
The judge for this contest will be: Vortigern99. Additional judges might be added at some point in the contest.
And questions and comments should be directed via PM to DarthIntegral.
I'll ask the two heads of the factions to post their current rosters, and then we'll get underway.

Indeed, with Chuckles permission, I would kindly ask to be allowed to be the orders representative for the duel. If you already have someone lined up then that is fine.
I still need to complete my task for chuckles. Ah why didnt I just agree to go straight in as master and help the training.

With both rosters posted, it is now time to start the first contest of this competition. This will be the dueling contest.
Each faction will choose three members to represent their faction. Once the AoD has chosen their three, I would ask darth_nemisis to post that information in this thread. Once the NJT has decided, I will post that information in this thread.
At that point in time, I will pair the combatants up, and assign the locations for the duel, as well as use a coin flip to decide who should have the opening post in the duel. The duels will then commence! Each combatant will be allowed seven posts to wage their duel. After these are complete, the three judges will weigh in and deliver a verdict.
The faction that wins a minimum of two duels will win this contest, and give their faction a 1-0 lead.
Please remember, that if you participate in the duel contest, you cannot participate in the Fan Fic contest.
Also, when dueling, please use the following format:
IC: {name}
Location, opponent
TEXT OF DUEL
Tag: Opponent

This will make it easier for the judges to find the relevant posts.

I'd like to suggest that the Sith get the first post in all the RPGs: "A Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense, never attack." So it would be difficult for the Jedi characters to have motivation to attack.  x1,000

If you have comments/suggestions/friendly smack talk/etc that pertains to the competition, please post it in the AoD thread. I am ready to start the first battle of the competition.
Before we start, I'd like to say that in particular because of the disparity in some of the rankings here, I'm not going to be judging based on a "who won, who lost" mentality, and that has never been my intent. Rather, I'll be judging based on the quality of your posts, your ability to stay within your rank, your ability to use your surroundings in your posts, and other such factors. I cannot speak for the other two judges, however.
I'll also note that as the contest progresses, so will both game threads. As such, ranks might change in the game threads. In fact, I know of one that already has changed. But, for the purpose of this competition, all ranks are frozen as they were posted initially in this thread, as well as all membership.
That said, let's get it on!
Dueling on Kamino, in Tipoca City, on the landing pad (seen in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones in the duel between Jango Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi) will be the Sith minion Despised1 and the Jedi Initiate DarthBrutus666.
I'd offer a note to you both that it is just about always raining on Kamino. 
Despised will have the first post of this duel.
Dueling on Death Star II in the Throne Room (seen in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi in the duel between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker) will be the Jedi Master masterjedi343 and the Sith Master greyjedi125.
mj343 will have the first post of this duel.
Finally, dueling on Coruscant inside the Jedi Temple in the High Council Room (as seen in all three Prequel movies) will be the Dark Lord of the Sith darth_nemisis, and the Jedi Padawan JediKnight20043.
nemisis will have the first post of this duel.
I wish you all good luck. Remember, each dueler only gets seven IC posts. Make them all count.

Lightning flashed over the surface of Kamino, illuminating for a brief moment the almost perpetual darkness of this world. There was little to see however, only a few spires that hinted to a much larger city under the violent waves of the watery surface.
Darth Paragon, standing upon a lone landing pad, could not help but feel the primal energy of this place. Power, as only nature could provide.
No. Nature provided an even greater power in the universe. One he was only beginning to grasp, the Force. Hydropower, as impressive as it may be....paled in comparison. Even though he was but a novice in it's use, there was no doubting the potential of the dark side.
As the young Sith stood upon the platform, constantly buffeted by wind and rain, he looked around both with eyes and through his senses. Surely there was an opponent here, he had been told as much, and in no time his prey was found. Though it was hard to see any details of the individual, he could not miss the darker humanoid shaped outline standing not far from him.
"Jedi I presume." It was not a question. The only thing Darth Paragon knew about his adversary was that it would be a Jedi. The Minion remained standing, each hand tucked into the sleeve of the opposite arm.
Though soaked to the skin from the rain, he felt no cold. The only thing he felt was an intense heat from within. The power of the dark side, it anticipated the fight and called him to draw his blades.
Though most thought patience a rare trait among Sith....they were wrong. As generations of Sith before him he would wait for the optimal time to strike, for as long as needed.

Brutus stands as the lightning flashes around him, illuminating the arena he is to fight in. He notices the dark figure standing before him. The figure calls out to Brutus.
"Jedi I presume."
The words rang out. Brutus realizes who the figure is. It is his opponent, a Sith. Brutus decides to call upon the force to help him, and begins to preform a Jedi relaxation technique before the fight begins. Brutus then calls out his reply to the Sith's presense.
"Welcome, Sith."
Brutus sits down, and begins to meditate, as when the time comes to battle, he would be ready.

The Jedi's only reply was a short one, "Welcome, Sith." He called out. Darth Paragon nodded curtly.
To the Sith minion's complete surprise, the Jedi's next move was to sit down in a meditation position. What in the name of the Force is he doing! His mind demanded.
As Darth Paragon stood there soaking wet in the rain, his arms crossed and hands tucked into his sleeves, he could not help but wonder what would possess a man to sit down in the face of danger. Was he daft? Cocking his head to the side a bit, he stood there for many long moments pondering over the action his opponent.
Deciding to delve into this mystery a bit more, the Minion began to slowly walk around the Jedi. His steps were cautious and light, in the manner he was taught, much like a predator stalking it's prey.
"Do you think it wise to meditate in the presence of a Sith," Darth Paragon queried, "especially while in what is to be a contest of skill with one's blades?" He added trying to remind the Jedi of their purpose here.
His eyes still focused on the sitting Jedi, the Sith continued to pace slowly around in a circular pattern, taking him to the right of the meditating opponent.
