Fair enough. I'll create a thread about it if one does not already exist.

I don't want to get into that discussion, either, but Ghent can I just ask really quickly, who is the 'we' you are referring to?

I've created a thread abut Potter's supposed satanism in the JCC:
http://boards.theforce.net/your_jedi_council_community/b10008/28551561/p1/?7
I really would like someone who earnestly feels this way to explain it to me in a way I can understand it. TY.

Glad to see this discussion have its own thread...I may put my input in.
But, I agree with those that said that Staroid or whatever is the name for Star Wars fans. For starters, I've been a Star Wars fan for well over a decade (not the longest but I am not that old either!) and I've never heard that term. In fact, the only term I've ever heard was: "Star Wars Geek."
I am going to break it straight and give my opinion. I don't really support anything that isn't Star Wars, to tell the truth. I hate Star Trek, I've never seen LotR. In fact, I don't really like anything Sci-fi except Star Wars. The only other thing I've ever liked in the Fantasy/Sci-fi world is Harry Potter. I don't know why I am like that, I just don't really care for anything. I like to believe that it's just because I am too hardcore of a Star Wars fan.

Actually i just copied and pasted someone elses thread on the Internet Movie Database.com or the IMDB and reposted it here to see what star wars fans had to say, since that Star Wars board there barely gets any posts compared to these boards, most posters there Trolls anyway so they cannot be relied on to fairly answer either.

I much prefer the term 'fanboy' to 'Starwoid.'

Point. I just assumed that Joe_Garelli and I shared the opinion. I hadn't thought of the other reasons for not liking Harry Potter. Sorry Joe.

Yeah, Vortigern, posting that thread in the YJCC was probably a mistake.

^ ^ ^ I noticed that. I don't post in YJCC so I didn't understand it was aplace for people to hang out making jokes. I read through the Posting Guidelines and it seemed the right place, but obviously I made a mistake. The thread is now locked and the full answer to my question will remain a mystery.

Perhaps it is better suited for Senate? I know that's a place for political questions and such, but it is full of debates and such where a lot of people put in some good input. Check with those mods...

Hey I belive that you can be anything you want.
I am a fan of:
StarWars
StarTrek all of them
StarGate all of them
Lord of the rings
and finally Harry Potter.
So what does that make me
a StarWoidTrekkiegatterringerwhatever a potter fan is.

I think it's possible but I also think that they have stark differences. SW is more fantasy, while ST is obviously on the sci-fi side of things. While I don't mind sci-fi, I enjoy fantasy much more and so I'm borderline obsessed with Star Wars and barely interested in ST.
If I wanted to be tough I'd tell you to get off the damn fence and pick a side, but I suppose I'm softer in my old age so like both if you want.
I also think there is a much, much larger fanbase for SW so the "rivalry" is a little one sided.
There is also a big difference between LOTR and Harry Potter magic if he's coming at it from a Christian angle, but we won't get into that unless someone wants to know...

Believe it or not, Germany does have a name for SW fans: Warsler The suffix -(l)er turning a word into a demoniation for a person that does/likes/is associated with it. Kunst - Künstler (art - artist)
Doesn't really work in any other language, though, I'd say.
I started out as a Trekkie (or was it Trekker? that's almost the German for tractor so I dislike it ) and now I am here.
Must have taken a wrong turn somewhere in the middle of TNG...
