Star Wars Insider is the official magazine detailing everything having to do with our saga: current events, fan fic, exerpts from comics, exclusive previews, collecting, articles that explore different aspects of the Star Wars galaxy in great detail, questions and answers, interviews, and just about every other bit of Star Wars goodness that you can think of. Basically, it's awesome, and here's the thread to talk about it!

Just a reminder: if you're posting stuff that has spoilers for recently released or soon-to-be released material, just remember to use the spoiler tags so we can avoid any "unpleasant confrontation". wink

Insider #112

The latest issue of Star Wars Insider will be hitting mailboxes and newstands soon, and packs a double dose of Obi-Wan Kenobi!

Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan of the prequels is highlighted along with Alec Guinness' portrayal of the noble Jedi from the classic trilogy -- and there's even an all-new interview with Clone Wars Kenobi voice actor James Arnold Taylor! The special collectors cover available at select comic book stores will feature a stunning portrait of Obi-Wan from A New Hope by artist Jerry Vanderstelt.

Other features appearing in Insider #112:

  • A peek into the prop exhibition accompanying Star Wars: In Concert

  • Preview of the new Uncle Milton line of Star Wars toys, including the Force Trainer

  • Interview with Matt Wood, voice of General Grievous

  • From the archive: rare images of Sir Alec Guinness' Obi-Wan Kenobi

  • Versus: Tusken Raider vs. Geonosian warrior

  • History of the classic Star Wars newspaper strips

  • Jedi Training: Star Wars trivia

  • Books: Death Troopers and The Art of Clone Wars

  • X-wing collectibles

  • Bantha Tracks

  • New comics, toys, collectibles, and more!

Yeah, the one before this one had Cad Bane on the cover. Pretty awesome. cool

It was supposed to have been mailed out a couple of weeks ago, but mine hasn't come yet, either. sad They're usually late, though. Whatever date it's set to be released, I always increase it by three weeks. That's closer to how long it takes.

I haven't opened the last two issues, though considering this one seems to have a little section dedicated to X-Wing Collectibles I'll probably open this one just to read it. That cover of Alec's Obi-Wan looks awesome too.

Say, out of curiousity, do they still have those membership gift packages once a year? Because I don't recall receiving one this past year.

OMG, Rev, I thought I was the only one who did that! laugh

The Hyperspace packages, hero? I got mine like a month ago. If you didn't get yours, you should contact one of the admins on the OS. They're really good about that sort of thing, if not much else. tongue

Probably not, rogue. We haven't had fan fic in an issue for a long time.

Ah! That might explain why last year I had gotten one but not this year. I'm not a member of Hyperspace anymore. Hadn't realized that came with Hyper blush

Yeah, we seem to have the Incredible Shrinking Hyperspace Packages now. tongue They keep getting smaller and smaller, when you actually get one. But I still renew my Hyperspace every year. Call it tradition. wink

I was very tempted to grab Hyperspace this year for the Fate of the Jedi short story Imprint. But it was apparently only seven pages long, and mildly obvious from Omen anyway.

Haven't read Insider for sooo long. Bet its quite CW orientated at the moment.

Yeah, it was really short, and didn't really give you any insight to the events taking place in FotJ. But it was a fun little way to spend five minutes of your life. tongue

Insider has still managed to maintain its fantastic quality and range while focusing on TCW. There were a couple of times that I felt they were kinda edging towards the politically correct side of some topics, but nothing incredibly major. And this has been more than compensated for by the excellent interviews and such that they've packed into their last ten issues or so.

One thing about Insider is that whenever you finish reading it, you'll always feel proud to be a Star Wars fan. wink

I started with issue 94, and I haven't missed one since! nerd My 112 hasn't come yet, though. frustrated

How's 112 so far? Any new features or anything?

Granny, do you have a comics shop near you? If not, you can order it online, get a copy at Borders or B&N, or even at Fry's. And as we all know, any excuse to go to Fry's is a good one. tongue
