That's true. Who knows if she was any more deserving of life or death than the others? But, for one reason or another, she gets to live happily ever after(?).

Thus I can't find any definable underlying message or subtext in the film. Beatrix is the most irrational character in Kill Bill, in that sense lends greater purity and purpose to the characters of Oren, Budd, Bill, Vernita, and even Elle. Despite what evils they're capable of, cuz heck, Beatrix is too. Speaking in the context that this film is about killers afterall. They are vastly more interesting and invite depth.
And there is no promise Beatrix is going t have a happy ending ever after. Old bad blood may raise it's ugly or revenge may seek Beatrix and BB out. I am sure the death of Bill and his proteges is going to rock the underworld worldwide. Plus, given her irrational temperment and her former profession may cause harm to herself, her daughter, and others.
Tarantino ran his rumour addled mouth again about a sequel many, many years down the line said the film will center on Vernita's daughters revenge and Beatrix will be a paraplegic cared for by her daughter BB.

Desperado was a great film, what Vol. 2 should have been. ( I give Vol.1 10/10 and Vol. 2 6 1/2/10), a good-times spaghetti western.
I really do hope Quenetin does some Kill Bill spinoffs. Although he has showed that he can handle character drama very weel, Quentins dark and dirrrtttyyyy since of humor makes it hard for me to imagine him making a war epic.

Who says it would be a war epic? It could be a very personal and general war story of a group of men; full of horrible deaths and dark and dirty humor.

What was great about Desperado? It was essentially the same story as Rodriguez's first film but with better looking people. There area number of plot devices that go nowhere and a lot of winking at the camera. However I will give credit to a great introduction for Salma Hayek.

Hmmm...... I just saw the trailer for a film called Jarhead, and it reminding me how a good, personal, down and dirty war film can be..... mabe Quentin should do this.......
I haven't seen El Mariachi, but as a stand alone, DESPERADO is great, superior to even the film the follows it- although Johnny Depp as Sands is the best character Rodrigeuz has ever made.....

" Desperado " is, stylistically, a remake of " El Mariachi " but its also its sequal and its also a seriously underrated film as is its finale - " Once Upon a Time In Mexico ". Its a brilliant trilogy all together, beyond the very cool spaghetti western and samurai homages in the films. Part 1 - for his survival Part 2 - for his revenge and Part 3 - for his country. Its good stuff and deeper than people give it credit for. And yes I agree - Depps CIA agent/ blind samurai tribute is easily one of Rodriquez's best conceived characters.

In real person talk,
The scene with Dwight(Clive Owen) when he's driving the bodies to dispose of them and Jacky-Boy(Benicio Del Toro)'s corpse starts talking to him.

Does anyone remember what movie Tarantino lifted the "prettiest" line Budd says to his partner in crime just moments before they bury Beatrix?
I think I have the movie in my collection and if anyone knows I'll probably kick myself afterwards.
Also, what book did he lift the Bill's Superman monologue from?

IMDB says he is currently filming a segment of a film called "Grind".
"Inglorious Bastards" is also listed for release this year, but don't hold your breath.

Didn't know about Grind House. I'm not a horror fan but if Tarantino's directing I might see it.
I'm still waiting for his single film version of Kill Bill.

Grind House is going to emulate it's nostalgic namesake including spoof poor trailers of cheap exploitive and z-budget films. Tarantino finally is good with his word as he's going to condense a Lucio Fulci giallo remake, 7 Notes In Black, into a hour or so feature.
