From the 'net:

"Alicia Keys has seen the new James Bond film

16 September 2008 4:56 PM, PDT | From The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news

Alicia Keys, one half of the duo doing the new James Bond theme for Quantum Of Solace, has seen the new 007 adventure, and thoroughly given it the big thumbs up.

Speaking to MTV, the singer and actress said: "I've never seen a movie with a car chase, a boat chase, and a plane chase all in the same flick."

Hmmm. That doesn't sound as good as she thinks.

Dark Horizons has the new theme tune here.

I think it's a total mess. Maybe it will grow on me.

The theme song has divided people, but I actually really like it, lol.

It has grown on me, but it lacks the power of a great Bond theme, imo. It will be interesting to see it married to the credits - might give it more oomph.

Uh oh...the theme song has been released? I like to stay away from spoilers. The trailers are one thing, but from here on out I'm shielding myself from everything. I'll wait to hear the song for the first time when I see the movie in November.

Interesting. With so many chases (including another footchase), how about throwing in a train chase for the hell of it? tongue

I hope they don't burden the film with too much action, though. I also wonder how long this movie will be.

The shortest. 1 hour 40 minutes or so. We'll anyway, it'll be shorter than the shortest film in the series 'Goldfinger'.

Funny that Craig's first Bond was the longest, just a little longer than 'OHMSS' and his 2nd will be the shortest.

It's officially been classed as a 105m 58s film (1 hr & 46 minutes in plain English), and in the UK received a 12A cert, which is the equivalent of the PG-13 in the States.

I am surprised by how short it is but not long before we can see whether that is a good or bad thing. The new theme is being used for the Coke Zero adverts which we are currently playing at our cinema, and they sound great!!

Definitely plan on going opening night with my brother-in-law, who's also a big Bond fan. Not sure what to make of the "short" running time.

The first reviews are coming in around the net. The verdict seems to be that it's not nearly as good as Casino Royale, with the director and script taking the blame. Not all the reviews are negative, however:

So, if Quantum of Solace lacks Casino Royale's narrative drive, and is less than the sum of its parts, those parts are often terrific. See it for them, and see it for Craig's fully-formed Bond: angry, icily unsentimental, and fleetingly borderline psychotic at the close.

Craig inhabits the character with a ruthless charisma that never lets up. And he, above all, keeps you watching.

The Times (U.K.) liked it too, here, but I would be a little wary of British-based reviews - we kind of have a patriotic duty to like Bond, even when he's not at his best.

All the British based reviews I've heard have been very positive. As always, the term "it's really dark" was used, but the gist is this seems to be a relentless revenge movie, which sounds good to me!

I do recall plenty of British-based reviews panning Die Another Day..... and rightly so wink

I'm ashamed to admit I didn't get round to watching 'Casino Royale' until earlier this week!!..dunno why? I think I was slightly fatigued with all the big franchises aiming for "gritty realism"...I mean whats so wrong with OTT fun? (that said 'Die Another Day' was very OTT...and very arse)
Anyway back to CR...I was slightly sceptical going in....What an awesome movie! Daniel Craig won me over completely...So obviously i'm now pumped up for QOS..the fact that it's a direct sequel is even better..I just wish they'd done this way back with 'OHMSS'.
So in tribute to my rediscovered faith in Commander Bond, I'm going to make it my patriotic duty watch all 21 movies between now & QOS. Wish me luck....Just the thought of 'A view to a kill' & 'Die Another Day' makes me think i'm going to need it worried

Well that's 'Dr No' & 'FRWL' done and dusted...only 19 movies to go! I'd forgotten how anti-climactic 'Dr No's' finale is.... still a great movie though!
