Ah but Hama's recent work on GI Joe is still readable where as Claremont's last few X-Men stories weren't so great IMO.

As vastly different as TripleB and myself are, i have discovered we have two things in common. GTA and comic books.

Well, the last few anything from the X-titles haven't been too readable
But yes, Mr. Claremont should quit while our memory of his work is still positive

I saw him being interviewed on an X-Men cartoon DVD, he's really quite a nice guy. Unlike Frank Miller, who seems like a quiet genius (see: DareDevil DVD) and, Todd McFarlane, who seems like a twit (Spiderman).

RE: "True believers!" - the Marvel Comics thread
and TripB,
The West Coast Avengers was a seperate title from the regular Avengers, which ran concurrently.
The spin off was one of Jim Shooter's better ideas (The "New Universe" being is great flop)
Avengers West Coast focused on more of the personal aspects of the heroes. Hawkeye and his wife Mockingbird, Wonder Man, etc...
Regular Avengers still had its human side, but remained epic in nature...
When the two teams combined, look out, something big was going to happen..
DC payed homage to the title by creating their JLA Europe, and the spoof, JLA Anartica...( which was then spoofed in return by the Great Lakes Avengers)

Frank Miller is no genius and he's definately not quiet... however, after meeting him a few months ago, I would have to say that he
is
really friendly. It didn't even seem to matter to him that I was a complete and utter jerk, walking right up to the front of a line that would already keep past the time he'd commited to and have a chat with him.

If you take his body of work, he isn't bad at all.
Daredevil-Probably the best depiction of the character..
I think God and Country is one of the top 5 issues ever... "GIMME A RED!!"
Wolverine- Can't beat the Claremont/Miller combo!
Ronin-Great.. I think the first story that he was both artist and writer...
Hard Boiled- My favorite Frank as writer work...

Do you really want me to post my real reasons, Ender_Sai? Because I know it will look at first like a real partisan bluster on my part at first if I tell you the real reasons why SUperman and Captain America

I didn't say he was bad, he's one of the best comics writers/artists around. He's like a modern day Will Eisner. I just don't think he's a genius.

Sorry, genius at what he does, insofar as understanding character, not genius in the >140IQ sense.
TripleB
, let me guess, because they are "clearly" Republicans?
Mate, if you don't read them because of what they stand for as individuals, then I made a mistake and let's drop it.
And is anyone else like me, in that they would love to see Black Cat in a Spidey movie?

Here
is a very interesting interview with JMS (current writer of AMZ Spider-Man).
He seems like a great guy.

Seconded. Best line from a Marvel character this week:"Oh, I get it! These losers are just a bunch of Squadron Supreme wanna-bes! Five gets you ten they're being mind-controlled!"-Hawkeye, talking about the JLA in
JLA/Avengers
#1.

RE: "True believers!" - the Marvel Comics thread
Here's a preview for NYX #1, the new X-title written by Marvel Editor-in-chief Joe Quesada:
Professor Charles Xavier can't educate and provide a welcome home for every young mutant in the world. His gift of creating hope from despair doesn't reach everyone who needs it, and that simple premise serves as the basis of NYX, the long awaited and controversial new Marvel PSR+ ongoing series debuting October 10th, 2003.
Written by the Marvel Editor-in-Chief himself - Joe Quesada, and illustrated by exclusive Marvel creator and rising superstar Joshua Middleton, this new street-level X-Men series introduces a pack of New York City gutterpunks, a group of young mutants that have to rely on themselves for everything from food to shelter to love. Kids who instead of preparing for Magneto's next big assault in the Danger Room, must learn to survive in the cold, harsh, and dangerous world of the city that never sleeps - begging for change in Washington Square Park and finding a warm place to sleep in the Port Authority bus station.
But while the cast of NYX will be the mutants who fall through the cracks of Xavier's dream, it won't be without its ties to the core X-Men universe. By December's NYX #3, readers will be introduced to a new character that is related to one of the most prominent mutants characters of all time. A very
close blood relative to a current X-Man, and the Marvel Universe will never be the same...
Here are a couple comments from Comics Buyer's Guide review of NYX #1:
"...the art attitude and atmosphere is convincing. Art, story, characters: It looks as if Marvel has solid - if out of left field - hit on its hands."
"The long-awaited return of Middleton to a regular comic-book gig highlights this interesting title. Character development is the key..."
NYX #1 (AUG031497), the 32-page debut issue of a new ongoing series, goes on sale October 10th with a cover price of $2.99 and a MARVEL PSR+ rating. Retailers are reminded its Final Order Cut-off (FOC) date is Thursday, September 18th.
[NOTE: As befitting a "Marvel PSR+" title, this preview contains mature themes and imagery.]
Link to the original thread on X-fan, plus a 6 page preview
WARNING: This title is PSR+ and is not intended for a young audience.
My reservations about Quesada's habit of making "bold" and "controversial" moves (dead is dead, etc.), the art in NYX looks fantastic. Flat colored art is often difficult to pull off without looking like a bad Disney ripoff, but I think the art works for this title.
