One thing I forgot to mention: by all accounts, JKR was a tremendous witness.

But is it that, or is it more -- that's the central issue of the case.

The latest news.

Vander Ark testified, and broke down in tears. Far more significantly, the judge called on the parties to settle, saying it's a difficult case, "The parties ought to see if there’s not a way to work this out, because there are strong issues in this case and it could come out one way or the other. The fair use doctrine is not clear." Interestingly, hes described it as "more lawyer-driven than it is client-driven". Both of the main parties (JKR and SVA) made very personal statements at times, but it's clear from the things they said that they were very well coached by their attorneys.

EDIT: and I'd say a chronological summary, not an alphabetical rearrangement, would be the easiest way.

Well testimony concluded yesterday. The WSJ Law Blog has a great summary.

From the looks of things, it's a very close case, but things may be leaning in RDR's favor. Of course, as the judge said, there will certainly be appeals, righ tup to the Supreme Court.

So it is true that there are going to be two movies of Book 7! That is very exciting. Now there will be three moview to look forward to. dancing

As far as the discussion on what was taken out of the stories for the movie versions: I don't have a problem with what's been done. Movies and Books are two very different mediums and allowances have to be made if both are going to be successful. And I really, really approve of the casting choices! happy Especially for Luna!!

John Williams set for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince?

Williams, now 76, was conductor of the Pops from 1980 to 1993. According to industry reports, he remains a busy man, with soundtracks for "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," "Jurassic Park IV," and "Superman: Man of Steel" all scheduled for his touch.

This would be the first really good news since the casting of Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort.

"What is it, Lieutenant Sebastian?"
"It's just the Rebels, sir. They're here."
"My God, man! Do they want tea?"
"No, I think they're after something more than that, sir. I don't know what it is, but they brought a flag."

Yeah, hat would be great.

In other news, It's now been a month since the JKR-SVA trial ended, still no verdict. The judge had initially stated about 3 weeks.

He was pleading with them to settle, which means he's going to give a verdict he thinks will be appealed.

A really good director and screenwriter could probably figure out a way to make it into a good movie, like Spider Man 1 and 2 or especially X2, or Superman 2, but given that names like The Rock keep getting mentioned when casting is discussed, I worry it's going to be alot more in the vein of Fantastic Four.
