Tremendous trailer. Excellent pacing throughout. Never too pushy, which is a big problem in trailers. Had just the right feel to it from start to finish. Very spooky atmosphere, and I liked what they did at the end, with Dumbledore's "No" coming several beats after his initial response.

I thought it was tremendous, too, except for DUmbledore's outfit.
... and the cave. I expected it to look like a fairly ordinary cave, albeit with a lake in the middle, not Superman's Fortress of Solitude ravaged by Fiendfyre

I used to think Gambon was poor casting as Dumbledore--not commanding enough. But as DD became a more complex character, he's become much better...and the way he reads that line in the trailer is masterful.

They seem to have deleted the Gaunt and Smith flashbacks, though.

Michael Gambon is an incredibly gifted actor. Yes, those lines, the delivery is awesome. To think he played a rich land owner in the 17th century in SLEEPY HOLLOW for Tim Burton, yet he also played a U.S. President Lyndon Johnson (from Texas!) in a TV movie, that's just staggering the amount of range this guy has.

How do you mean?
Also, they seem to show him putting on the ring.

No one has been cast as the Gaunts or as Smith.

Mar17swgirl posted: Mugglenet has the teaser trailer available for download in different formats and sizes (including hi-res that's bigger than my screen ).
The trailer looks awesome, I especially liked the bit between young Tom and Dumbledore. Very creepy and ominous.
I liked the trailer, but that creepy and ominous feeling that we're getting is from Batman Returns. They are recycling music again, but it probably won't make it into the actual film like the speeder chase music from AOTC made it into HP and the COS.

The Gaunts would take up alot of screen time, I guess, and could be replaced by a quick recap by DD. I thought something was odd about the way DD said he wanted to share he most important memory with Harry, as if there weren't others.

I agree that he wasn't THE perfect choice for DD, but I think the main problem with his DD lies with poor direction, rather than his portrayal. For example, I thought he was perfect in POA, slightly eccentric and crazy, yet wise and having things under control (just like he is in the books). But in GOF and OOTP it appeared the directors let him run wildly amok. He was aggressive and out of character. But again - that's the director's job to discuss these things with the actors.

I just can't warm up to him. When I read the books, I always see DD as being restrained and calm, and never, ever shouting. Even in the duel with Voldemort, when he possesses Harry, and Harry hears panic in DD's voice, to me he still never raises his voice. Gambon, on the other hand, always seems to be shouting.

I have the same problem with him, but again - that's the director's job to keep an actor under control.

To a point, I agree. But it's happened with three different directors (although not so much in POA).
EDIT: If he starts shouting at Draco or Snape on the tower, I will be very angry.
EDIT2: Either the trailer or one of the stills shows DD putting on the ring. I wonder how much of that story line they're going to give away here.

Does anybody here actually care about The Tales of Beedle the Bard? I'm surprised it's the #1 seller on Amazon.
