The Apocalyptica Fan Thread
Hey, for those who don't know who Apocalyptica is, let me just say that this musical group is one of the best I have ever heard. This group, made of three people(Paavo Lötjönen, Eicca Toppinen and Perttu Kivilaakso) are known for being a cover band for groups like Metallica and others. Thinking another guitar playing rock band? Think again. These three play cellos!! Hundreds and hundreds of lonely hours were spent in the studio searching for their own sound. The result, plain and simple: ”We created a new musical style, cello-rock,” they stated. They are starting to come up with their own stuff now I believe (I haven't heard any of their new CD, Reflections). The group originates from Finland. You guys should see if you can listen to any of their work, it's just awesome!
My favorite song they did was a remake of Hall Of The Mountain King. I think you can listen to their music at their site.
Anyways, discuss Apocalyptica here!

I prefer the String Quartet Tribute to Iron Maiden. They gots cellos and more! Plus some dude playing bongos for some reason.
edit- Staying on topic, Apocolyptica is pretty good, I prefer many of their covers to the origionals.

I'll have to check out the Iron Maiden album you were talking about.
Yeah, I much rather prefer the Apocalyptica tracks than the real ones, some of Metallica's lyrics aren't that good, plus, if you know them already, then you can just sing them if you want while listening to the better versions by Apo.
This band is the one CD that is always in my car. I have a mix of the best ones that they have done imo and I never stop listening to it.
