C_E, I just noticed you have the crack spider quote in your sig. Nice Best You Tube vid ever, I'm telling you. Everyone has my mom to thank for that one.
Er, on the topic... I saw Great Expectations (1946). Typically for the time, it cuts out some of the darker aspects of the film and goes with the brighter ending (not the one Dickens wanted to publish). But on the whole, it wasn't a bad adaptation. I'm *slightly* biased, but I thought Alec Guinness as Herbert Pocket stole his scenes. It was his first film and he was 31. When I read the book, I pictured Herbert precisely the way Alec played him. You can see from this why he went on to be a British film comedy legend.
So, yes, a nice adaptation, especially with the sensibilities of the time. David Lean can nearly do no wrong, except for his Oliver Twist, sadly... this I give a B.

Saw the Ruins. Good movie. A nice change from the recent Toture/Serial Killer horror movies.

I just saw Run, Fatboy, Run. It was vulgar, obnoxious and not really uplifting at all. I really didn't like it at all.

Last two movies I saw were No Country For Old Men and There Will Be Blood.
No Country For Old Men: I thought it was great... let me rephrase that, I thought the first 95% of it was great. Where was the climax to this movie? The scene that you would think was the climax was missing from the movie altogether. We practically skipped the climax, then got the last 10-15 minutes of the movie. Weird.
There Will Be Blood: I enjoyed this a lot. Maybe it's because I'm really fond of character studies. I don't know, but Daniel Day Lewis gave an amazing performance(even though he still overacts from time to time) the ending kinda came out of left field a little bit though.

I agree with you so much on this point, I think the film should be renamed LEFT FIELD ENDING.
I had enjoyed the film up to that point, didn't think it was a masterpiece, but thought it was quite good. Then we end up with DDL humiliating the long lost preacher kid, in a home bowling alley no less, using milkshake analogies, and then kills him? I'm going, what the heck is this?

Peace.
