Speaking of Oscars I have seen the 55 seconds of footage on Youtube of Joker crashing the party as well as a five minute opening scene that only lasted a day on Youtube with the Joker and if Heath Ledger doesn't win an Oscar than Harrison Ford better get one and not even because he played a phenomenal role but because he can still rock the whip and the outfit and do what Indy did twenty-thirty years ago.

5 second clips do not equal Oscar greatness, not that the Oscars actually matter.
Either way, I saw Stardust recently, and that was a fantastic flick. While Narnia struggles to find itself as a fantasy flick Stardust was excellent from the start and no one even saw it.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy -- The 2005 version. I really expected to like this movie. Unfortunately, I didn't. It tried way too hard to capture the tone of the novel, and frequently failed miserably. It didn't help that it was full of some of the worst acting I've ever seen -- Zooey Deschanel (one of the rare actresses who looks like she'd be more attractive in person than on screen) in particular was awful , and no one was good. The action was boring, the jokes fell flat, and the plot simply was not well-translated to screen. It had a couple funny moments, but was mostly awful. (*½)
Hellboy II: The Golden Army -- A lot of fun, though the people I saw it with didn't like it. Then again, they liked Wanted which I hated. Oh well. Ron Perlman is even more engaging as Hellboy this time around, and the movie is pretty much exactly what I expected: not a Great Movie, but mostly a visually astounding trip through del Toro and Mignola's imaginations. The plot is The Lord of the Rings. Mostly I had four problems with the movie: (1) The opening was weak. Young Hellboy looked stupid, and what the heck kind of bedtime story was that, anyway? (2) The baby scene. The scene itself was okay, but the way the baby was used went beyond my ability to suspend disbelief. (3) The bad guy was really the good guy. Granted he had gone fanatical, but it was the humans who forgot about and broke the bargain and are now destroying his realm. His solution may be extreme but his reason for being pissed off is sound. (4) The music. It was actually a large, loud, well-mixed, thematic Elfman score. No problem there (except it was way too loud, to the point of unpleasantness, in the theater. The problem is that they didn't use any of the themes from the first film. Those were some good themes, and the musical continuity would've been great, and there was no reason at all not to use them. It was a good score, but much more familiar than Beltrami's effort from the first film. That all said, this is the first movie I've seen in the theater in a while that I honestly enjoyed (the last one being Iron Man). A cinematic fantasy feast. Definitely recommended. (****)

Hellboy II. I enjoyed it quite a bit, great visuals, very reminiscent of Pan's Labyrinth.

I watched a couple movies over the weekend-
Stardust - Great film
Batman - Okay. Jack Nicholson was brilliant in this, but I've been spoiled by Christian Bale's Batman.

Most recent first viewing were Eight Men Out and The Golden Compass, the most recent films I've re-watched are the 2005 version of King Kong and the 2006 version of All the King's Men.

I've just finished watching Darjeeling Limited. A bizarre film, but very nice, left a warm fuzzy feeling. And it had great cinematography.

The Love Guru.
If you like Mike Myers and toilet humor, than you should enjoy this one. I was crackin' up. It's nowhere near as good as the Austin powers flicks, but it's fun.
Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo.
If you enjoyed the first, you'll probably get a kick outta the sequel. It's full of "I can't believe they just did, said, showed that" moments. NPH is awesome. If you're easily offended, watch it anyway, maybe you'll lighten up. All and all, it was just good fun. I honestly hope they make another one. These flicks, to me, hearken back to the old days of the Nation Lampoon flicks, ya know, before they dove into the "Strait to DVD" pool.

Rudy-still one of the best sports movies. When that theme kick in for the first time during the tryouts sequence, it never gets old.

Recently, I saw INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL for my 10th time.
The last four movies I have seen in a theater are (in order of preference):
INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL
Another amazing movie in the series. It's George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Harrison Ford and John Williams. A great combination. Harrison Ford is Indiana jones. Great to have Marion/Karen Allen back. Amazing fun. I've seen it 10 times, including the opening midnight showing.
4 stars out of 4 stars.
IRON MAN
Great movie. A lot of fun. Great Cast and great performances. Enjoyed it even more than I thought I would. I've seen it twice.
At least 3 1/2 stars out of 4 stars.
GET SMART
Fun movie. Didn't really expect to see it in theaters and actually enjoyed it. I've seen it once.
3 stars out of 4 stars.
THE INCREDIBLE HULK
Well made and I enjoyed it, but I still don't know if a movie based on this comic book/comic book character has been as enjoyable for me as I thought it could be. I've seen it once.
3 stars out of 4 stars.
Me and me and my wife's nephew have tickets for the midnight opening showing of THE DARK KNIGHT. That's probably my next two trips to a theater (the second viewing being with my wife including possibly opening day).
