Jumper.

It was meh. I know Hayden Christensen is a good enough actor, but here he was pretty much grinning stupidly throughout most of the film. Also, the ending was very disappointing. He shouldn't've walked free. He wasn't a hero - heck, he wasn't even an anti-hero. He was a selfish pubescent bastard, spoiled on his own delusion of superiority. I can't believe the girl actually stayed with him after what he'd done to her.

Samuel L. Jackson was cool, though... sort of. The special effects were decent, but the pseudo-mythological backstory was crap.

All in all, hardly worth the 700 MB of harddrive space... tired

Yeah, Jumper is pretty terrible.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977)
I'd been meaning to see this film for years. I finally saw it yesterday. Great acting, cinematography, and story!! The mashed potato scene is great.

I Was a Fugitive from a Chain Gang (1932)
The film stars Paul Muni and came out the same year as Scarface. It's based on a true story and the book and film helped expose the brutality of the chain gang system to the general public. Great acting and story.

The X-Files: I Want to Believe (2008)
I think I would have appreciated this film more if I'd been an X-Files fan before seeing it. For me the movie was watchable, but average and a little graphic/gross at times with cadavers and such. Oh well.

Sunshine Cleaning (2009)
A single-mom maid played by Amy Adams decides to enter the biohazard removal business. Very quirky and funny in the same way as Little Miss Sunshine (2006).

I think the point was that Hayden's character was a jerk, just like the other guy who used his powers essentially for selfish, greedy reasons, but through the course of the film, particularly the climax, he became a good/heroic person. At least, that's what I got out of it. I really enjoyed the film, but I haven't rushed out to buy the DVD.

My point is that he didn't. Okay, so he saved the girl - but at the same time he was saving his own arse, so it hardly counts. And I really didn't notice any moral character development. I felt that the conclusion of the film pretty much was "You can do whatever you want if you're clever enough to escape the authorities".

Actually I liked the other guy better. He at least didn't pretend to be better than he was (Hayden's character: "I'm different". Yeah, sure.). And I couldn't pinpoint his accent and that bugs me - anyone? tongue

The Other Boleyn Girl: It's not a bad movie. I found the book to be much more interesting and detailed though. I feel it gave a better look into the relationships between the main characters than the film did.

Transformers 2. If you hated the first, please don't even other. I loved the first, and I loved this one. I will see it again.

Watched Disney's Bolt on DVD. Not a bad movie. Some of the animation was pretty impressive.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

Three nitpicks:
1. Sam's college room mate. I'd have much rather had the film makers use Glenn and the hacker chick from the first film, or failing that, rely solely Skids and Mudflap for comic relief.

2.Simmons in man-thong was funny, John Turturro's naked ass= sick

3. Not enough Lennox.

Other than that it was a major improvement over Transformers and a really fun giant-fighting-robots movie.

Just watched Dr. Strangelove on TCM. One of the things that caught my eye is when Peter Sellers is playing Strangelove toward the end of the movie, the actor playing the Russian ambassador can barely contain his laughter at Seller's performance. He's standing to the side of Sellers, with no lines, just trying not to break character. One of the funniest things in a comedy classic. He can barely keep the smile off his face. grin
