Just finished watching Primal Fear on Hulu. Became predictable towards the end, but I love Edward Norton. And has Richard Gere been 40 his whole life?

I'm always glad when someone else likes Speed Racer! Once you can see past the candy-coated visuals, the story is rock-solid and the action fluid and dynamic. The time or chronology distortion in the first act is nothing short of ingenious. One reviewer, I forget who, has called it "The most expensive avant-garde film ever made." Bravissimo.

Agreed. The Crucible sequence kicks ass. Besides, how can you not like a movie that has race cars driving up verticle cliffs and doing backflips at 600 miles an hour. grin

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Nowhere near as good as the first. Seemed like a bunch of action sequences pieced together with no real meaningful plot to hold them together. A sequel for profit only.

Eagle Eye.

I thought it was fun.

Billy Bob Thorton and Shia LaBeouf--surprisingly good combo.

Yeah, and not only are the racing scenes killer, the dialogue exchanges between Speed and the corporate villain (name escapes me) crackle with intensity. Here's a huge corporate-sponsored Hollywood movie spending hundreds of millions of dollars to tell a story about a kid who shirks corporations, spits in the face of big business, and comes out #1 anyway. It's all highly improbable and absurdly colorful, but in the final reel when it counts the most, all Speed's important memories come back to him and help him do the right thing -- which also happens to be the action-adventure/awesome racing finale thing. 4 stars!

Yeah. I've seen all the Wachowski Bros. films and I've come to the conclusion that the main underlying theme of their work is the little guy giving the Establishment the finger.

I was shocked at how much I enjoyed "Speed Racer". It was a lot of fun & it captured the spirit of the TV show. I wish I would have seen it in the theater as the visuals must have been something on a big screen. I'm shocked that it tanked as bad as it did.

Public Enemies. Very good. It takes a little dramatic license, but Johnny Depp gives a great performance. I did, however, keep wanting to tell Christian Bale to just go get some of his Batman equipment to track Dillenger down.

Yesterday I just watched Underworld: Rise of the Lycans and it was not bad at all. I have to admit the Underworld movies are the best Vampire and Werewovle movies ever.

The Knowing late Saturday night. I fell asleep a few times. I thought it was pretty lame, which was the same feeling after I saw Contact. The premise and trailer was more eventful than the actual movie. However, when the solar flare hit earth and killed all living things was cool because most movies don't go with that type of ending. Typically movies have a way to avoid disaster and save the human race. Not this movie, so thumbs up on that.

Started the third disc of Babylon 5: Season Three. The plot threads from the first two seasons are starting to come together, and the show is getting VERY epic. The Churchill ramming the Roanoake was an awesome moment and the image of the Agrippa burning was very cool.
