Sith_Sensei__Prime posted:The Knowing late Saturday night. I fell asleep a few times. I thought it was pretty lame, which was the same feeling after I saw Contact. The premise and trailer was more eventful than the actual movie. However, when the solar flare hit earth and killed all living things was cool because most movies don't go with that type of ending. Typically movies have a way to avoid disaster and save the human race. Not this movie, so thumbs up on that.

But I think this is one of weirdest Hollywood movies I've ever seen--it's about a fancy looney bin. Widmark's the head doc, Grahame's his wife, Bacall's the art director, and Boyer's the former head doc. And they quarrel--all movie long--over curtains. And I'm not kidding. The best you can say is that Grahame is peerlessly sexy, and Minelli's art direction is always good. And that's it. Bacall's role is dull; Widmark is ye good liberal; Boyer is ye bad conservative. The loonies are occasionally entertaining, especially Oscar Levant. But considering the possibilities here, this movie is a definite disappointment.
