You know what I think the ultimate question of Lost is? It is not "What is the monster?" nor is it "What is the island?". I think it is:
Why are they on the island? What is their purpose?

The ultimate question is "Will we be satisfied when the show ends?"
That's my biggest worry with the show. The fans have placed such high expectations and want all the answers. Will we get enough of what we want when it ends or will we still be saying, what is this island? What's really going on here? when the show's over.

I'm not worried about that at all. Both Lindelof and Cuse have said that LOST will have a real ending that will end the story.

I'm pretty sure some fans are expecting every single question to be answered. I don't think they will, and I hope they don't, answer every question. There's some things better left unanswered.

I'm somewhat concerned about tying in particular 1st season mysteries. They have probable solutions, but certain things need to be said.
For instance, who were the skeletons in the caves in season 1? We don't need to know EXACTLY who, but were they part of Dharma? Rousseau's crew? Others/Hostiles? Charlotte's parents? Someone else?
