I wonder if they'll use the 8 episodes they've already finished or if they'll start from scratch. If they revise it and cut Tony out I'll flip my lid.

From what Ive read theyre not going to scrap the 8 episodes that have already been filmed, if only because itd be foolish for them to simply throw away those eps. when they cost so much to produce.
Guess we'll know soon enough either way, though, since production is set to resume in another month or so.

According to this here, 24 will return in the fall with a two hour 'prequel' which will bridge the gap between seasons 6 and 7.

I would assume by now they're pretty close to filming at least the Prequel movie. I would guess they'll probably shooting season 7 around Late September, early October.

This has been confirmed by various reporters in the media. They are currently filming episodes 9 and 10 right now, and will film the whole thing this summer. Very weird for a tv show to do that and then wait a year to premiere the material, but I'm happy with the decision because I think if they decided to pick up filming in the fall, they would have lost some of the focus of the cast and crew. Also, this gives them plenty of time to revise it and make it the best season yet.
