RE: AFI's 100 Best Scores: Disc. Elmer Bernstein's Man with the Golden Arm
A Man For All Seasons is "meh." The only reason it's on here was to get Georges Delerue one score to show since most of his best works were not for american films.
The Man With The Golden Arm is a great score. Perhaps even top 100. I'm not a big jazz fan, but this hit the spot for me. I would have chosen it over Love Is A Many-Splendored Thing.

I actually haven't see "The Man With the Golden Arm". Have seen "Seasons" but don't remember the score.

140.
Midnight Express
(1978) - Giorgio Morodor
This is Morodor's only appearance on this list.
Nominated for a Grammy; lost, rightfully, to Williams' staggering Close Encounters. Took home a Golden Globe, stupidly beating out Williams' Superman.
Saw this film; quite liked it. Remember nothing about the music.

RE: AFI's 100 Best Scores: Disc. Giorgio Morodor's Midnight Express
It's one of my favorite film scores of all time. It's basically synth work, but it's really catchy. It certainly deserved its nominations though I'm not sure it should have beaten Superman. If this popped up in a top 100 list, I wouldn't be surprised. I highly recommend it to anyone willing to find it.
The movie was pretty good too.

I find it hard to believe it's his only appearance on the list.

At this rate we'll never get through the list.

I'll thank you to keep remarks like that to yourself.

Miracle on 34th Street
(1955) - Cyril Mockridge
This is Mockridge's (unsurprising) only appearance on this list. This score was nominated for no awards.
I've seen this film; I recall the music being pretty mawkish, which I suppose the film called for.

I've seen it too, but I'm damned if I remember the music.

This score is nothing. The only notable parts are when Cyril includes classic christmas jingles in his largely forgettable work. There were better scores that could easily have taken this ones place.

I would guess the score is included because repeated Xmas showings have engraved it on the brain.

The Miracle Worker
(1962) - Laurence Rosenthal
This is Rosenthal's second and final appearance on this list. This score was nominated for no awards.
I've never been a fan of Rosenthal; I just saw this film, maybe two months ago; I remember that I liked the music behind the credits. That's about all.

I'm not much of a Rosenthal fan either. None of his scores would ever crack the top 100 let alone top 25.

The Misfits
(1961) - Alex North
This score was nominated for no awards. This is North's second appearance on this list.
I quite love this film, but the score isn't that great actually. It certainly doesn't stick in the mind.
